I think you give away your North Indiana was awesome I think your videos are great. I followed you now for a couple of years and appreciate all your videos not to mention. I've joined you boot camp on the lawn service appreciate all you do
haha love that your rockin a lofe shirt! that is one youtuber i wouldnt expect anyone in our community to watch props for being open to content on the complete opposite of our side of our niche
This video was perfect! I always followed you and watched your videos and this was perfect timing as I will be overseeding some of my existing lawn and planning new grass in a few areas. I put the app on my phone and I am good to stay on schedule with doing it this weekend in WI!
I lived in Bradenton for 8 years I love that area... Live in Tavares now right where your top freeze line is... Trying to figure out if it's a good idea to put down winter rye or winter seed to protect my grass I know I HAVE BAHHIAAA GRASS hate it also but HOA prevents all others 😅😅😅...
I live in the greater Charlotte, NC area, a dreaded southern end of the terrible "transition zone." Are there any good resources for this zone in particular? The LCN guides appear to be geared toward the Northern "blue" zone and Southern "orange" zone. I'm planning ahead toward this fall for a lawn renovation. I have mostly fescue but it dies out every year in the front yard and half of the back yard once the hot weather hits. I have a very small amount of bermuda left, it's very thin. However, I'm not too keen on bermuda given the cost of sod/sprigs and maintenance. Previously had a local yard guy who basically seeded with a version of winning colors every fall then fertilized twice a year (if I remembered to call him). Looking to take things over myself. Thanks!
Hi Allyn, I have been looking at your videos since 2010 and need some advice, I'm having a house built and have noticed that all the TTTF sod installed does not do well the first year. What can I do to give my newly sodded lawn the best chance of making it through the first year. Should be moving in march 2023.
On the app how do i see the soil temps you are talking about? I see the top left little box that says the current soil temp but can i see it bigger someone with dates and when the guess is for when its gunna be 70 etc?
I don't understand how a lawn that is only 30% good grass can thicken up that much. I would think that KBG would take too long to spread that much. Are rye and tttf "spreading" to fill in some of that 70%?
Al, what happened to the long sleeve Pancho shirts and Columbia buffs? Now shorts and T's???? No more worries about skin cancer? Whatcha putting on your skin in Florida?????
Believe it or not, I have been low on Vitamin D and my doctor told me I needed to get more sun. So I do wear sunblock for sure but I do try and get some sun at the same time. Have to keep the balance.
Hi Allyn, regarding mowing after seeding/overseeding, you say 8-10 days. Is that from the time of seeding, germination, or when you can see visible growth? Thanks! Love the channel.
Just prepping to seed my lawn I’m doing quite the renovation smoothing the lawn now ready for seed and I saw Conner wards video about pre germinating grass seed…. He had me sold and I am now soaking my grass seed. I sure hope it pans out
My St. Augustine has Torpedo grass growing in it now,,,,maybe 10% torpedo... I dont think Ill ever get rid of torpedo...Do you think seeding with Zoysia will eventually take over, if I use Quinclorac to kill off the st augustine and torpedo?
Your free content is awesome and I love the App. Thank you so much! Can you speak more about overseeding when there is also a large percentage of weeds present? My fescue/kentucky blue grass/perennial rye lawn is generally healthy but one section has been increasingly overtaken by creeping charlie, chickweed, carolina geranium, burweed and henbit. I do still have at least 30% grass in that area. Can I address the weed problem and overseed this fall or do I need to tackle one issue at a time? I'm in the Piedmont area in North Carolina.
I'm gonna be definitely looking to buy a few of the flags! My boss and I were buying them from a friend but they don't even last a year and it's annoying I would Definitely love to support your company also so thank you for making them in the great U.S.A. 🇺🇸🗽
Here to say 3 things: Allyn I've seen your comments on other channels and I think it's freakin cool how you use your YT presence to tie the online community together. Next, I appreciate the forsight that a segment of the community may not appreciate some good-natured fun. Only a stand-up guy would consider the chance of a negative outcome and head it off versus damage control after a viewer may have taken honest fun out of context. Last, the best piece of lawn care advice I've ever heard came from you and Pete Denny...raising the height of cut to maximum height (tttf) for most of the year is a real game changer. Thanks for all the exellent content sir. God bless you and your family.
80s music is not cool!!! But Allyn bc its you I always enjoy it, makes me laugh. I grew up with 80s music too and I just hate it. Amd yes, I screw up the words too.
Hello, I Luv all of your videos and info on lawn care. I just started learning about grass and weeds. I have been working on my grass since last fall. I have so much Dallas Grass it ain't funny. What can I use to get rid of them in VA. Also, all of the grass that I planted last fall is dying off fast. It seems that the soil we have here is not suitable for grass or something (soil is dry clay). I got a thatch layer so fast that it stopped the water from getting to the ground. Now all I have is brown dead grass turf type tall fescue. Please give me some pointers to get some green. This video is so timely for me. thanks a bunch for the help. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK U LAWN CARE NUT!
Allyn another great podcast! Really valuable information for lawn seeding or not seeding. I love what Max is doing but I was a little dismayed by all of the progressive buzzwords coming out of his mouth. What will happen if some other company offers the exact same product at a better price? He’ll have to compete if he wants to stay in business. And it wasn’t labor costs that drove jobs overseas it was government making it hard for companies to remain profitable and that created a domino effect that made it so if you didn’t follow suit your business would perish. Don’t need any flags right now but when I do I’ll be going to Yard Mastery! I wish Max well.
Thank you thank you thank you! I just discovered your blogs this summer. Wish I would have found you years ago. Love the content it has been so helpful. I live in New Jersey close to the shore my yard has struggled for years even when the pros came and sprayed for me. (I have so many soil issues to learn about) The Yard Mastery app is showing I'm not supposed to seed until September 30th. And my yard is definitely barely hanging on to that 30% rule. That Sept 30th date seems late but given how hot it has been and for the next week and a half it looks to be in the mid to high eighties that might be about right. I'm just nervous about hitting the seeding window late. Will that date in the app change if temps start to drop earlier? Should I move it up a week just to be safe?
I'm glad you brought this up. The app right now is showing you the best guess for a seeding date based on historical soil temps. And you can go 2 weeks early and be good so that would be like Sept 15 which is only a couple weeks away.
@@Thelawncarenut I thought I read you advise not to use a weed pre-emergent if you are seeding in the fall. But in the .pdf and in this video you apply the pre-emergent. Can you help me understand what I'm missing? Thanks!
Lawn Care Nut is awesome!!
I would've loved you messing around with him !!! Love the video man great content

I remember seeing you comment on a Jordan Peterson video a while back.
Last Aussie 😁
What about if centipede is being overtaken in places by carpetgrass. At least I think it’s carpetgrass. It’s thick and wet when cut.
I’m here to help the wife get a job in the best industry in America. She is passionate and caring and everything your looking for!!

Wat would you do if ur grass have shallow roots but grubs is not the issue ? Can soil compaction effect it?
😋 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙢
I have either pos trivia or annual not sure when is the best time to take it out and reseed.
On the app how do i see the soil temps you are talking about? I see the top left little box that says the current soil temp but can i see it bigger someone with dates and when the guess is for when its gunna be 70 etc?

30% plus your seeding. That's the key. The 30% is there to get thicker, but also to hold in the seed until it is able to root.

Your existing grass will grow very fast. So that will dictate the mowing in the beginning. Not the new seed.
When’s the best time to lay sod? You talked about seed but not sof
right now is great
For warm season? I’m in lousiana

Do you feel that priming the seed is a way to kick start germination?
Am I missing the link to Anthony's roast video?

Good Morning
my lawn is mostly dormant can i aerate a dormant lawn if not when should i in the fall
It will start greening up as temps cool off and you start getting rain, that is when you want to aerate and seed.
