- I wanted to take you behind the scenes at FuelTech USA as I sit down with the owner Anderson Dick and talk about how we first met, a recent trip to Brazil, and how long we have been working together during Street Outlaws.
We tour the facility, see a few cool cars ,and most importantly break down the crazy turbo Opala that Anderson imported into the USA. This thing is so cool and a blast to drive. What do you all think? Would you rock it? Let me know in the comments below!

This is THE ONLY U.S UA-cam Channel I've ever seen a Brazilian 250/Chevy featured. I was always a fan of these Brazilian cars. A few Months ago while on Facebook Marketplace there was a Man in Newark New Jersey selling a few of these Brazilian Chevies including a few Wagons. I don't know IF He sold them all or whatever I haven't seen the Ad since. A great way to showcase these Car(s)would be to enter it in Drag week or Rockey Mountain Race Week. Americans still seem to take their Straight Sixes for granted and many still get pulled out and replaced with a V8.
Well that makes me happy, I definitely wanted to feature this cool car to my fans :)

Brazilian Chevrolet Opala is an Opel Rekord C with american 4 and 6 cylinders engines (that came from Chevy Impalas of that time), so that's the reason the name (Opel+Impala=Opala).

Reminds me of the Australian 68-1970 General Motors Holden Monaro. front and rear are bit different and this is smaller. but that rear quarter and wind down rear quarter glass is similar. Love our Holden Monaro more then anything ever made.
These Opalas look cool. one of these one of our Holden HK Monaro and a 69 Holden LC Torana would look cool in a garage together.
And funny fact because of our Holden Monaro being so popular they tried bringing it back as a future car in a 2000 Holden Monaro but wasn't as popular but USA wanted it and refitted it out as the 2005 Pontiac GTO and what Jeff Lutz drives now
Honestly , you guys coming to Brazil really took me by surprise, but the whole coverage here on UA-cam made me feel like I was there. I remember the goosebumps just for watching it. Cannot imagine how you and Murder Nova felt with all the craziness it was in that race, the noise, the crowd and everything. Truly hope you guys come back , and I will try my best to be there and meet you guys in person.

for brazilians it is heresy to put v8 in opala.
here in brazil we managed to get 2500hp from the 6 inline using stock block and stock head

Ever since 1320 went to Brazil and went to their local race track with Luis I've wanted an Opala and I would also turn it into a steel roof and quarters big tire car with a Proline Hemi or a Proline 481x or at the very least a 5in bore space BBC or a 4.6 bore space SBC all combos completely billet engines with twin 102s and a Liberty trans and a FT ECU and sensors
If you're located in the States just find an Opel Rekord sprint, there's a few around, I myself would look at the Manta, just my taste though.
As a fan of the street outlaws, a Brazilian and a opala owner, makes me very happy to see this reaction of the americans. See, this car is our national pride when we talk about racing. The Volks Gol also, but the opala is making history since the begining of racing in Brazil.

The Opala is a fusion of Opel Rekord C body with Chevy Nova powertrain and Chevy Corvair front-end.
I'm Isael, i have a Opala 1978 since 2005, nowadays it's runs with the first one FT produced, the RacePRO, and the old chevy250 runs happy with an automatic transmission and CompCams 280H kit.

Awesome video. Just an correction: the Iron Duke was never used in the Opala, instead it used the Super-Thrift 153 of the Chevy II, later developed into the 151, you can tell by the intake and exhaust being on the same side in all Opalas engines. It's a common and widely spread mistake.
Pontiac brought out the 151 for use in the Astre in '76 or '77 in '81 they got the cross flow cylinder head .

The gearbox sounds that way because the gears are forged straight for more strength. Original gearboxes always use twisted cross gears to ensure silent operation. Greetings from Brazil!
I like these Opalas. My dad owned 2 Opel Commodores back in the 70's. The European car these Opalas are based on. Somewhere in the 90's we also had a restored 4-door '69 Commodore for a while but he ended up selling it. Something we both still regret to this day. I loved cruising with my dad in that car when I was young. Such a cool car!

In Germany the little Opel (Kadett B) was the competitor of the Volkswagen. The Opala (Rekord C Coupe was the greater Car for people Like Ingenieur and doctors ans so on. And Louis WE Like the Big Side Windows too. Sadly the most Rekord are rusted away.

The ompala kinda looks like a Holden HK era monaro that Australia and New Zealand shared, pretty sure they had a 327 or 350 chev for the big motor. Very cool looking car and the inline 6 turbo nice. It use to be #lstheworld now it #barratheworld with the last inline 6 turbo that was in the BA/BF Falcons that where made in Australia till factory got shut down and the death of the falcon. I got a cutlass 442 I've been running a fueltech dominator on forever like twenty years I think I got it when I was working for fueltech in bowling green KY off the Russellville rd rebuilding alot of Holley carbs lol the dominator was a really popular carb back then love fueltech esp my boss back then was awesome they moved not sure if they still are in bowling green still or not great people was my first job learned alot from working for them oh nice builds
