Kudos to the boys in Brasil doing big things in a much more interesting way! Huge turbos, stright 6s, alcohol+meth fireballs, H-pattern gearbox, no wheelie bars.... #LEGENDS
Dude, those cars are already expensive as hell stock. I live in Brazil and those people may wasted more than two originals Shelby Cobra to make run it like that, specially with the Brazilian import tax. It's restrict club, if you know what I meant. lol But those cars are sick.
a mint condition low mileage stock Opala SS from 70s can cost you in brazil over 25 thousand dollars..... they're very expensive already since they are considered collectible in brazil
actually one stock, in clear good conditions, without any mods, u can pay here in brazil 3-4k dollar, but there is one thing, these cars in video are all the same car, its all the chevrolet model "opala", just change year, u can see it from the rear taillight... in vid has some 69, the SS wich is a very expansive ( 10k + ) and diplomatas, but if u want one, 3-4k u can have one in 100% conditions..
I stopped doing what I was just to watch this video. I thought to myself, another 2JZ swap. Nope! It was a GM engine. By then I forgot what I was doing.
Not only that, it's a "primitive" push rod engine. No overhead cams, 4 valve heads, variable cam timing. Probably why the LS engines get up so many peoples noses because they still get the job with the "antique" valve train.
The V8s were quite rare in Brazil, due to our Budget GM preferred to bring the german Opel Rekord, but with a american powertrain, the L6 238/250 in the case. The name Opala is a cross between Opel and Impala, and is also the name of a precious stone here. It was sold here from 68 all the way through 92 using THE SAME monocoque basis,, just deeply facelifted. Today its really part of our folklore, and one of our most important cars ever.

Nicest people on earth, so cool that you brought this to us dude, thank you sooo much! I'm a die-hard V8 man but how can you not respect these guys and these cars, 2400hp and almost seven seconds flat with and h-pattern and non-slipper clutch? Just amazing! I had no idea - thank you!!
Yeah they're running nitromethane that's how they're running 7s
@@doughopkinsjrthat does not explains it all bro, you should know much
That looked entertaining. Wheelies, flames, high revs, turbos, nitros, stick shift, great driving, etc - what can you ask for more? Great racing!
No smile is bigger than foreigners who dont understand what you're saying 😂
Much love for BRAZIL! Killing the game over there and great people!! ❤
Those cars are soo sick and I want one soo badly, but I'm sure IMMEDIATELY after this video was uploaded the price on them went through the roof!

Those guys are legends racing old cars at literally a world-class level
Josh Dobson look this opala ua-cam.com/video/0g5u1kqZJik/v-deo.html
What these guys do without swapping engines, just making the most of what's there already is insane
Coisa que jamais imaginei: 1320 no Velopark!
Thank you guys, amazing video!
It's a old chevy stove bold derived design with 50+ years of improvements. That's really mind blowing.
Those cars are scary fast! Unbelievable the amount of power those six bangers put out!
The guy helping out with the interviews did a really good job.
It is amazing how much boost that original block can handle. The enginuity on this build is out of this world. I absolutely love it!
I think i am in love with these cars , the people are awesome too!! Brasil drag racing is def on my bucket list
Wow! Looks like they are hooked up really well, even on those small tires. Cool to see these racers in other countries.
Yeah, this class does not allow big tyres and wheelie bar.
It's a super cool class, I would love to visit Brazil and watch a race!
And radials at that.
Best video for a long time. I’d love to see a tech in-depth video on these things as they’re nuts!
That engine hasn’t even got a crossflow head! Inlet and exhaust ports on the same side! Love it
Here in Brazil is also very famous the engine VW 4 cyl without cross flow, headstock 8 valves with 1500 HP
Stav-Tech and on top of that cylinder heads have siamese ports. Just 3 for 6 cylinders hahah 🙃
Beautiful looking cars and those guys seem very humble.. 👍 🇬🇧
These guys have built their own Barra lol. This was sick as, great vid
The body looks just like the 70s Opel Rekord/Commodore Coupé
Related to these? General Motors Holden.. www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/feature-cars/1604/1968-holden-hk-monaro-186-review
@@viagemais def. not the same car, but the first opalas were based on them.
Now, I do think they're a bit larger, not to mention the post-1980 ones.
@@enwri so they are basically red block 186s????

@@alleydee9226 no, they were 4 cylinder 153 for the first years, and 151's after that, and 250 6 cylinders.
That’s insane to get a 6 cylinder to have that much power and go that fast!
Hey, I've been watching you guys since a long time, I'm really happy that you could finally came to Brazil and show some of our drag racing cars! I hope you return more often!
Congrats on the video!
Those cars should be in the next coming "fast and furious" movie big up to BRAZIL👍🏻👏
The "Brazilian" one is in Porto Rico and have a couple Brazilian cars but only in the background... And thats makes me mad, because we have so much to contribute to car culture world-wide...
@@nicollasquerino585 Just imagine... Paul Walker driving a Marea Turbo, Vin Diesel with a Dodge Dart from the 70's, Ludacris in an Omega... So much potential, wasted for all that "same old shit" of Imprezas, Challengers and Porsches.
@@willasrock1 Se fosse Marea tinha ido antes pro céu, kkkk brincadeiras a parte foi um desperdício não utilizarem os nacionais.
The fast and furious movie do not deserv having our drag cars, afther they said about our contry.
How the hell do they get 2200hp out of an old Chevy 6 cylnder
by going through a lot of them lol
Build, break, fix, repeat
Ya I figured that. I have never seen any 6 besides 2jz or diesel hit that kinda power. Impressive
In the Brazil is Chevrolet (chevy) Opala
Wes Green The 10% nitromethane 90% alcohol helps too. But, mostly it’s throw lots of money at it and you can end up with good enough parts.
I'd like to see some of these cars at the WORLD CUP FINALS in November
Theyd do work haha

The Brazilian Drag racing scene is pretty strong and unique. Nice 1320 came here to check it out
As a brazilian expat, this is awesome to see. My dad had a '74 Opala when I was born, later had a '78 and then an '80. Bulletproof cars!
I’ve always liked the body style of the 70s Chevy Opala. These things are amazing and they’ve got that magic fuel mixer figured out but I bet they go through engines quite often.
I'd like to know how often they go through motors as well, GM designed those 6s for industrial applications so those blocks might be pretty dam tough.
no, there are virtually no GM 6cc engine breakdowns.
Gringo pira nos carros Brasileiros kkkk 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Carro Brasileiro feito por uma montadora americana. (GM)
@Cachorro Doido imbecil
Wow those are some crazy straight sixes
Man i love when language has no boundaries when it comes to racing. We all want 1 thing. To go fast! 👍🍻

Thanks for bring us drag racing from Brazil! Brazil has a warm spot in my heart as I have spent a month there during a couple of mission trips. One this Brazilians are very passionate about is football (soccer) but they are as passionate about motorsports as we can see here. Thanks again for showing us how fierce the Brazilians are fitting to go fast!

Sick rides!!! I love international racing.. It's cool to see how the rest of the world drags
It's crazy how different the cars are in all the different countries you go to. These ones in Brazil, are pretty nuts IMO, love them. They seem to be pretty bouncy tho, why is that?
Too much power.
You guys are always so kind and respectful as guests and to every racer you meet. Always a pleasure watching the international videos.
2200 HP?
Yes, we brazilians know how to build a good engine, using stock block and stock head
It’s crazy how around the world no matter the language barrier fast cars and racing brings people together and everyone is having a good time I like this 🙏🏻💯
