I've got a bunch of those style headers gaskets that crush when you tighten them down, still brand new in the pack. When that company first come out with those I ordered a whole box.
An HB Vauxhall Viva was the last car i thought i'd see in a shed in the States. This was a great bit of info for me as my motor is still in bits. So im going to check this out for myself. Cheers for posting this.
@@The_Performance_Laboratory Ooops sorry mate it didnt occur to me to look at what country your in. I should know better to, as we are often mistaken for Aussies. Im in NZ, we also had lots of Cortinas and Vauxhalls here, hard to find now rust kills everything here. Cheers from NZ
Great video. Always something to do on the cars. Crazy about these manufacturers that say one thing and deliver something totally different. Hope things can get worked out. Look forward to the next one. We were stuck here in Ontario for over a month, let alone being able to go to the States. Be safe and stay well.
90 mustang here 351w swap stroked to a 408ci. My long tube bbk swap headers fit perfect. 5 speed car. Headers went in from the top with ease. Just remove steering shaft.
I used MAC headers for an automatic to fit around my Lakewood bellhousing. The automatics have wider housings, so the headers for autos have more clearance.
I discovered that the first set of street headers I used were for an automatic. They cleared the Lakewood fine, but had 2 tubes where the clutch cable needed to be.
Have You tried a set of Kooks headers they are pricey but You can order them to fit Your specific application ! But when You consider what You have spent headers so far it may have been cheaper. Best Wishes and Good Luck. Thanks for the update.🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍
That’s typically what happens during these modifications, and us and you SR, are the ones that get stuck eith exspensive parts you can’t use. And yes it sucks. I feel for you. You will probably have to use the factory shield or go with shorty headers.
Thats what i thought, Places like LMR and 5.0 resto you are lucky if anything you get is quality, i bought pony wheels from them - spots all over them brand new out of the box spots wouldn't come off, i bought pipes from them with incorrect mandrel bends (my pipe guy did the best he could do) even something as simple as the front ford emblem (they sent the wrong one) apparently i got the 86 emblem when i should've got the 88, im so done with LMR never ordering anything from them again
Good gravy we've been saying BBK sucks for almost 30 years...... I'll give you a hint: pacesetter headers with the collectors cut off and then a merge collector added. I ain't going to tell you what size though 😉
I had a set of headers for a Big block 66 Chevelle and I swear, the manufacturer must not have known that you needed to put spark plugs, let alone, spark plug wires in there.
Uncoated mild steel headers will rust inside. With sufficient valve overlap, at part or closed throttle, the engine will suck the loose, abrasive rust into the cylinders. Not a good thing.
Hey bud what bbk headers did you have on the car before you tried the new bbk headers? Was they auto headers? Thanks
Yes, BBK 15310.
What part number was the manual headers you got? I got the same problem I gotta find headers for the Lakewood bell I dont wanna cut on it
@@syman9556 15160
@@The_Performance_Laboratory I wanted to let you know the 15940 bbk headers fit with no clearance problems. No mods needed
@@syman9556 and you can install/remove the Lakewood with the headers in place?
Holy shit that motor is clean 🧼!!!!

Thanks for watching, but I'm in Canada, not the States. We had lots of UK imports here back in the day. I had a '70 Cortina when I started driving.

@@The_Performance_Laboratory Oh I see. BTW love your videos. They take me back to some of the best times of my life, racing in D1. Thanks.
was the bellhousing and all that stock? or aftermarket? I"m just trying to understand why the BBK didnt want to fit
Thank you for the video. I found it very helpful. 👍🏻💪🏻🦊

I went back to my OG Ford Motorsport race headers with new collectors for street hookups. It worked out well and saved me significant costs.

Buy KOOKS HEADER AND MAXIMUM MOTORSPORTS/ FORD RACING CLUTCH CABLE.
I went back to my race headers, with new collectors. They fit.
That had to be frustrating.
Whats the part number of the headers? Im curious, I want to buy new headers and i'm worried about the lakewood bellhousing clearance issue.
Neither the BBK 15160 nor 15310 will work with a Lakewood.

Would the sheild go on first?
Yes the scattershield would have to be installed first, then, somehow, the headers.
what are you doing with the headers you took off?
While I'm tempted to smash them to bits with the biggest hammer I own, I'm likely selling both BBK sets.
@@The_Performance_Laboratory def. has to be very frustrating. im in nw indiana im sure it wouldnt be cheap to ship this way.
@@GearheadRob319 I'm sure you could buy new from Summit for less than the shipping cost + what I'd want for the set.

BBK only slightly better than MAC and that's not saying much.
