My beloved d700 is a true masterpiece of engineering, strong, durable, amazing image quality, full frame sensor, and superbe colour rendition, best of all its super cheap and will never fail you on the job
This is the best camera to start as a photographer, cheap efficient, great image output straight out the camera
If you have any question about my lighting technique in the studio please ask i will try to explain... currently its very complex to do behind the scene of my studio session as everything goes so fast during shooting and i am so much focus on my job i always forget B.T.S. ( behind the scene )
P.S this is my first vlog so be kind its not perfect but the information in there is genuine after using that camera intensively for 4 years almost everyday i know what i am talking about when it comes using this camera

I have a lot of respect for what you say and what you have done with the gear you are talking about...Truth.

I bought one not long ago to sit alongside the Nikon D7200 I use for Landscape, etc. Basically, I just wanted to try Full Frame for not too much money and because my PC has old hardware, but upgraded hard drive to SSD for fast boot up and a bit more responsive performance. The Nikon D700 was the ideal choice as the files are not too big, so don't bog down my older computer. Your right 100%, 12mp is more than enough, and the image output is impressive for its spec back then! . It's nicely weighted and feels so good handling it, a proper tank!

its also very durable and will probably outlast your d7200, i have just added a nikon f5 to my collection will post picture from it in the coming months the f5 is another legendary beast pretty much an analogue version of d700/d3

I very much enjoyed your thoughts on the D700.
I love mine and agree with all the points you made. The camera just produces beautiful images. I also have a few AIS lenses including the 105 2.5 Nikkor. Like the 135 it is just an amazing lens.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the F5. I just purchased a Nikon FM.
    Blessings.

the f5 is an amazing camera i had one session with it yesterday and it is so refreshing to just have to measure the light in the studio adjust and shoot the camera is set at f8 1/200 shutter and you don't need to worry about anything else just take the picture ... the film then goes to the lab and you dont have to worry about any editing or anything ... the only problem is i have to send the rolls to South Africa for developing as no one does it here in Mauritius ( i mean for now ) the shipping is very costly sadly i have to put it on the studio price ... the 105mm f2.5 Ai is another legendary lens.. i believe steeve McCurry took the famous afghan girl picture with this lens... it might even be with the same camera you have ( not sure which f model was used ) .... i normaly shoot portra 160/400 and kodak tri-x in the studio .... will try some ilford next week ... i will send all the rolls at once for developing by next month to save on shipping and post the result here thanks again for all you comment take care

Thank you Gilbert for your nice presentation and pictures,
I confirm the skin tones are wonderful as well as the colors (I use JPEG without post processing).
My gear includes: D700, Nikkors manual lenses: 55mm f2.8 AIS Micro, 85mm f1.4 AIS, 35mm f1.4 AI and 28mm f2 AIS. I shoot portraits mainly with the 55mm and the 85mm (beautiful skin tones) , Group photography with 35mm, 28mm and 55mm Micro.

@@GilbertCarosinPhotography In terms of life, I saw a model of d3x that had shot one and a half million times. And it still worked great. This first model was made for the US Army and NASA, so it has an exemplary build quality

Whst you say is what I have been saying for years, but people still think that high mega pixel feature laden cameras of today can replace talent. Do we really need 60 MP to photograph a woman?

Is that 135 a manual focus lens or is it auto focus as well?
