    I shot the 'Dave The Biker' portrait (front image for this video) with my latest D700 body a few months ago in November 2022. I used the Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 (non-VR) & 45cm x 45cm Lastolite softbox with old Elinchrom Style 300S strobe.

    I still really enjoy using my D700 for portraits. I use to have a D300 and also liked the images from that too.

    That guy was entertaining for certain. I too dipped my foot into Fuji at his behest and it left me feeling exactly the same. It works for a lot of folks, just not me. This week it was all packed and shipped out to a buyer up north. We’ll be sticking with the Z6 and D700.

    I agree re Fuji. Something about the images does not give me the depth that Nikon does. Love the D700, D4, D750, D850, and older lenses like the 80-200. If shooting film, the F5 is wonderful too. 5 fps in film....wow!

    Although I have been shooting with Fuji cameras lately, I have a D3s and a D700. I love those older cameras and you just have to be careful with the compact flash cards. I never shove them in but put them in carefully so as not to bend any of the pins.

    Bought my d700 a in 2008 and used it for 10 years til replaced it with a d850. Works like a charm after all that use. I don't use higher than 1600 iso but that is just fine for much work.

    Hi Timmy. I have finally upgraded my D3000.
    I am now the proud owner of a D300s 😁🎉
    Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the D300 the DX version of the D700?
    I have the same battery grip too.

    • @Cotictimmy
      @Cotictimmy  Рік тому +1

      Congrats - I think the D300s will be a much nicer and better feeling camera to pick up and will shoot with. You are right - the D300 is the DX little brother of the D700. I'm not 100% certain, but I think almost the only difference between D300 and D300s is that the 300s has 720p video whereas the original D300 has no video capability. I had a D300 in the past and thought the colours from its RAW files were nice.

    Have the D3x, D3s, D200, D300s, D4s, D700, D810, D850 as well as other Nikon film flagships, there is something magical and unique about the now vintage Nikon images coming out of those cameras. Love the CCD look of the D200 if you balance your ISO limitations and understand its DR abilities!!, Ted.

      You went down the Nikon rabbit hole! 😂I have d200, d300, d700, D800, d3s, d5 a couple of S5 pros too for good measure. I really love the handling of these old Nikons. They feel more natural than Canon to me.

    Using a D700 for years, among other Nikons. This morning my D80 died with an err message. I decided to get a D200 for replacement. When looking for that I stumbled upon a D3s located only a few km from my work. It has a +500k shutter count! It looks ok on photos though, so I will see it in the afternoon. The high shutter count makes it very affordable - DKK 1000, (£ 120) including a 50mm lens!

    • @Cotictimmy
      @Cotictimmy  Рік тому +1

      500K is a big number, but with the lens and that price, it sounds like a gamble worth making. Good Luck. 😊

      I just ran across someone who has a D700 with 1.4 million shutter activations. I wouldn't worry about it. Sad that the D80 died. That's my go to CCD camera.

    • @KimHojbergJensen
      @KimHojbergJensen 11 місяців тому +1

      @@RhettAnderson The 3Ds is working perfectly fine. In the meantime I have got two D200s. So I still have a CCD camera. The D200 is also a solid camera. Same build quality as D700, D800 etc.

    Great to see you posting again, missed your content , more please 👍, very interesting re fujifilm cameras , as I am currently thinking about letting my d3’s go as I’m doing more field macro work and really require a tilt screen and higher mega pixel count for cropping , have been thinking about the fujifilm xh1 ? , but it’s crop and not full frame and not sure if that’s any good for what I’m doing. also as much as I love the weight of my d3’s having recently had surgery on my neck and spine carrying heavy equipment is a no go .. any advice on what camera to go for ?

    • @Cotictimmy
      @Cotictimmy  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the compliments Simon. You need to get the cameras that work for you. I'm pretty much a portrtait and casual people snaps shooter and I like the old Nikons but even I (as a huge fan) find the big flagship bodies heavy for walk-around street portrait shooting or hiking for landscape. People say the current Fujis are great, & my previous Fuji experience was 6 years back when I was shooting jpegs and using an old version of PS Elements for editing. Best Wishes, T

      Thanks for taking the time out of your day to answer really appreciated , I’ll do more investigation work as I really don’t want to let the d3’s go without replacing it with something slightly better , maybe some of your viewers may have an input .. so many different viewpoints and not sure who to believe , and once I’ve traded in that’s it ., 🤔 , all the best look forward to more content 👍👌
