Ironically the Abrams is nicknamed the "whispering death" .. because they cruise nice and quiet .. acceleration from a stop is loud with a supercharger kinda pitched squealing .. but cruising is quite quiet.
And it got if from the Iraqis as most of the time, they didn't hear the Abrams till it was on top of them. Turns out a high pitched gas-turbine engine is quieter than a low pitch vibrating diesel engine.

Fun thing about Abrams. As infantry you can't hide/follow behind one for there is an angry dragon hidden in it that breathes hot JP8 exhaust.

Or even a Battlefield-esque Breakthrough style of game where the attacking team has to take 1-3 caps to unlock a new set of objectives for 2-4 rotations. They have big enough maps, they have the sp system, it makes perfect sense, they simply have no vision beyond "hurr durr buy new tank please...thats almost exactly the same as the last two just 1km/hr faster and 2mm more pen..."
There used to be a game mode called ‘break’ in war thunder. This gamemode required a team to capture two points to unlock the next one and move the spawn points closer to the enemy. This game mode was removed due to spawn camping though
@@imafraud7413 if that was their reason then why don't they remove every single game mode. Its not the game mode's fault the Gaijiggles can't design a good map to save their lives 🙄
Also as far as I'm concerned, if you dont want to get camped, play better. If you're getting spawn camped you kind of deserve it.

@@Armoredcompany The thing is in break mode, once you capture one of the cap, they add a new spawn point next to that cap. But the enemies who are trying to defend it are still around, free to camp the spawn. So it's even worse, Gaijin can't design a good game mode on top of bad map design.

Because they don’t model sound well. The high pitch turbine is very loud close but the high frequency sound dissipates fast while the lower frequency of a diesel engine travels farther. They just done model that in the game
Litterally you can hear an Abrams across the Map its so loud that you can't hear your own engine anymore
My morning routine of war thunder is first 3-5 games of txting in chat"morning,good morning,and good morning mfs". All the games after that is me wanting to swan dive off of a bridge head first into a busy highways

You'd think since they added those more progressive pushes in enlisted they could do the same in war thunder. There definitely needs to be more game modes, especially since the coop modes are a garbage fire
They see this game as a cash grab now so they don't care.
yeah the coop mode is borderline unwinnable, i have won many times but only because there were tanks like PT-76-57s on our team or the fact that there were three Mauses

This is my favorite tank in the game hands down. It's even better in my opinion than the later Abrams because it can hold it's own at top tier but usually fights much lower BR enemies.
I'm not a big fan cause it's armor is like a paper (on the other hand, every Abrams in WT can be one-shotred by a phucking PzIV F2 from the front xd) but yeah, definitely not a bad tank. I just prefer later variants.

@@GHOST_CROATIA It's not as easy now after making shells bigger than pixels (forgot the word) but if You shoot between the gun mantlet and viewer's port, it will go through and possibly kill 2-3 crew members if lucky.
@@Manaphy0882 yeah it has a weak spot, but so does ever other tank in the game. But most of the front has very good armor. It actually has some of the best armor at it's br, and when I play it I get just as many bounces as I do penetrations.

I'd love an ongoing game mode with huge maps. Like literally the size of the plane maps, with some sort of resources, like refit and recrew stations.

Ah yes I remember war thunder in 2002, I was only 2 years old but I remember playing the m22 locust (even tho I was really bad back then) but when the m1 Abrams was released i was overwhelmed with joy and grind for hours to get it. Ah good times
dunno if you're trolling since the comment has been edited and it has been 1 year since you posted this, but War Thunder Ground Forces didn't exist till 2014, and the Original 1981 production M1 wasn't added to War Thunder till 2018.
Yeah, breakthrough/rush and frontlines were probably my favorite gamemodes in battlefield. Probably the only time players got into actual defensive lines and attack formations. Conquest is fun and all but that usually develoves into 3 or 4 separate TDMs gling on or 1 team outright wiping the map and spawn camping.
I remember playing War Thunder back in 1994. You could still buy it on floppy disk. The good ol days.

1 anecdote, in a Swordfish on Peleliu AB map, torpedoed all 10 Destroyers without ever getting shot down while staying close to east airfield and finished for the win.
I was 19 E and 19 K MOS in the army in both M60A3 and the M1 Abrams back from 1984 to 1990. Thanks for bringing back good memories.

I would love to see a game mode for naval where you do "Harbor Assaults" like in Navyfield, or island hopping where you actually capture islands with landing craft and amphibious tanks. Would also think it could be cool to have Artillery in GRB be from either ships off the coast of some maps or from artillery "tanks".

Something that makes the Abrams (in real life) so dominant in the battlefield is that it is a tried and true tank. Few countries around the world can say that their crews would without a doubt trust the performance of their main battle tank. Yes they train in them, this that and the other things but most have never been battle tested. The first iteration of tigers passed their initial tests but broke down more often than not after just a few months of service. “Tried and true” beats “technically better” every time.
Much as I like them. There are these things called FOG missiles, that would decimate tanks including M1's , if armies would use/adopt them. Also there are drones of similar capabilities , but since those are radio guided , they can be scrambled, not so with a FOG missile. I remember reading about them in the late 1980's and going, well this will make tanks obsolete , short of putting a full CIWS on top. I was on M1's a few years.
I think the only reason armies do not adopt FOG missiles, is it would make make most of their tanks, and mobile warfare tactics, largely obsolete. And they have no answer for them.

agree on the gamemmodes. it also would bring the benefit, that gaijin wouldnt need to care so much about the queue times, when u dont have to queue in on servers every 2-15 minutes, but stay in matches for an hour or longer, and when the match ends, the next starts without u leaving the server...
but gajin has no finesse...
They could have RUSH mode from bf, protect high value targets like bridges, factories, infantries, escort convoys... or even some logistic co-op, air crane helos taking supplyes to bases, deeploying para-troopers... there is so much they could explore

I think it would be really good phor the community to hear your input on the game, I like video essay content so I personally would love to see that.
A supremecy game mode would be nice. Essentially team deathmatch except each team has a SP pool of like 5,000 or 10,000 (depending on the amount of players in the match and this'll make staying alive and playing well more imperative to the success of the team). As the battle progresses capture points could periodically spawn around the map (lasting 5 minutes before despawn) which when captured gives your team an extra 1,000 SP allowing dead players to respawn and repairs, rearms, and crew replenish the player(s) that captured the zone (giving incentive to active players to move around the map). Aircraft and helicopters can spawn in aswell after 5 minutes or so. The match ends when one team runs out of SP or player vehicles.
This probably would need it's own matchmaking since most likely it would last longer and not all players would want it in regular match rotation with battle and domination modes.
They could do a rush scenario from battlefield with atleast 10 players on each team to start with join after battle start on and have like 1,000,000 tickets and have 4 or 5 caps on a relatively large maps ( teir specific of course) but common this is Gaijin were talking about here

You gotta try the IPM1, best tank at 10.3 and it mostly gets downtiers. It is better than the M1 cause it shoots the M900 but also has the 5s reload.

Would be nice to have a map with 100x size 100x as many people a whole theater of war .... have service trucks to pull up static defences to slow down the movement of each side or something from the rear aka gets harder to push the farther you go as you have to travel farther and defenses travel less or something idk basically a mmo or something with defense lines and you have to coordinate attacks with supply trucks and or artillery crews idk I can imagine alot of potential
you can hear an Abrams from 100m away, its the loudest tank in the game with the Maus.
Which irl they are nearly silent because the turbine engine has a high frequency unlike Diesel engines..

Been playing War thunder for just over 2 yrs. Wanted a Abrams from the start, but decided to grind. Just recently got the first Abrams, and am about to get the IPM1. Also grinding UK, and Germany for contrast. Could you do a comparison on all the Abrams comparing play styles. ie; sniper, brawler, skirmishing etc. (On paper the IPM1's improved ammo looks devastating). Thanks for you time, and enthusiasm.

Phly, I agree with you on the lack of game modes. I would hope that top tier would have larger area maps and gameplay like wargame red dawn (or steal division). I would like to see something like what you were talking about where you can join into a larger on going game but maybe for a role (air, ground or sea).

Phly! how about a series of videos similar to the triathalon sections of the shooting range? comparing similar tanks of multiple countries. 3.3 medium tanks (Sherman's, pz4, t-34, Cromwell, p40, chi nu) or 10.0 mbts (abrams, t-80b, 2a4, ariete p etc) I feel that would be cool from your perspective

you should use the IPM1, it gets the m900 round with 522mm of pen with a 105 at 10.3, much better tank than the normal m1 for 0.3 higher br

Ok story time….
I was in my leo 2k on this very map on the left side. Just like the others I became very close to the spawn. Then someone started shooting me behind the houses. I was wondering what I was, so I used the 2k’s cannon so anyway I started blasting.
In response my team mate ran in, head first aswell, but then I saw him ran in front of what looked like the enemy then blocking my shots. He looked at me with his gun barrel going side to side saying no. Well I wondered why of course, and then I looked behind him….It was a child…. a BT 5
