Hey Phly! About 3 years ago you made a video about the AMX-30B2 BRENUS and how it was one of the worst MBTs in the game. Well today the BRENUS has had quite a glow up, as it now boasts a pretty nice array of tools at the comfortable BR of 8.3, such as thermals, a laser rangefinder, IRCM, and a pretty nice lineup to back it up. So I encourage you to take a look at this underappreciated vehicle again (day 30)

*David Attenborough voice* A Leopard 1... The rarest of the battlefields of War Thunder 1942... These are the first intimate images of Leopards 1 in ww2 ever filmed in the wild. Her ammunition is well chosen, it has exceptional characteristics and penetration. On these treacherous battlegrounds no hunter other than the Leopard would have a chance of killing such agile, armoured vehicles. A light armoured vehicle makes an easier target. It's 105mm L7A3 cannon give an excellent rate of fire, and that 830hp engine helps her mobility.

Though Civ fans all know that when a modern tank goes up against a less advanced foe its because they were pumping their numbers and then the tank gets killed by cavalry in a horsey bloodbath. Or sunk by a war galley while crossing the sea.

People losing their minds over Leo at 7.3
Meanwhile an autoloaded soviet premium that shoots 152mm dart with better pen than 10.0 Abrams's dart and almost the same mobility to Leo 1 (18 hp/t to Leo's 20 hp/t). Obj 120 at 7.3
I gotta tell you a few things. It does not pen more than the Abrams, the handling is definitely not as good as the Leo, and it’s survivability is terrible. But, it has a good gun. It’s reload is still slower than most of the tanks you’ll be fighting, anyway.

Hey Phly I've been having a TON of fun recently playing the M22 at 5.3 covered in bushes and sneaking around, hiding on cap sites and just watching bewildered panthers and tigers run around trying to find what tank is on cap. I guarantee you'll have a blast doing it and would be great content!
I like 9.0 and up as it can bully almost any tank(soviet armor is a bit difficult) but overall is very fun
@@joshuadumais6312 true but I think then you can't run circles around the big tanks anymore cuz their turrets traverse faster. But yeah, always funny to see an M22 killing an MBT at high BR 😂
Once I sat in on rubble inside the cap B that is in open terrain and had a tank circle me more then ten times before he even turned to inspect the rubble. Then I just ran circles with it in a reserve tank and unfortunately the ping lagged and I got shot. it was a td and I should have been able to shoot it from its open back
i encountered an m22 covered in bushes in the middle cap on fire arc today. literally looked right at it and only saw a bush. safe to say i was salty when it killed me.
I just can’t get over the fact that this thing faces ww2 tanks most of the time

Well, it's the same feeling that gets any german main when facing post war tanks with 1941 technology
Not just this thing, but also the BMP, the Marder, centurion mk 3's, etc while obviously full uptiers tend to be a bit iffy because obviously the tank a full BR higher will be better.
I think there are some cases where it's kind of stepped up a bit harder where they just should not be facing certain things even if they are technically only "1.0 BR" lower.
A good example for this being, 6.7 vs 7.0+ and 1.7 facing things from 2.7
@@sheldonborb3593 That’s funny because one of my favorite lineups for Ground RB is Germany 6.7. It stomps HARD. Win rates in the 60-70s. I just love the Tiger 2. It’s almost the perfect tank for the BR.
@@flyingtower Tiger 2 can be a real pain to deal with, but I mostly avoid Germany from 5.3 to 6.7, as most of the times my team loses even if I perform well, I can't tolerate a winrate of 35/40% while I have a solid 60% with USA and USSR performing just as well
So I'm a brutish main and during my time with the Conway I concluded the APDS shell was bugged since it performed worse than other shells of a lower calibre. I feel like 17:00 illustrates this nicely.

7.3 is actually a good br for this thing, versing 8.7 with this problematic paper made thing would be a pain in the ass.
u could also use sabot. Much easier to aim and also more reliable in dmg
I dont get it either. Well I do for heavy angled targets but why People dont use sabot its like an early apfsds

@@neki203 Both are a pain, HEAT acts weird against tanks with strong armour and seems to do less post pen damage, it does however seem to be more effective at getting ammo to explode (from personal experience), however HEAT is extremely effective against lighter armoured vehicles (usually a one shot because of overpressure), Solid rounds suck against light armoured vehicles but performs way better on tanks with better armour, so pick your poison.

This is epic. Believe it or not near a baseball field near where I live, There are 2 tanks. One is a panzer (don’t know if I spelled that right) and the other is a tiger or a leopard

Panzer (armor) is spelled right. The panzerkampfwagen (armored combat vehicle) family includes panzer I (trainer), II (stopgap), III (main battle tank), IV (fire support tank), V Panther (replacement main battle tank), VI Tiger (breakthrough tank), and VIb Tiger II (improved breakthrough tank).
Postwar Germany worked with France (who opted for its half sibling the AMX-30) to develop the Leopard 1, then used technology from the failed US-German MBT-70 project to create Leopard 2, which got tagged "the europanzer" because its so popular on the export market today

PS: 2 days ago I researched the Leopard I and I'm pretty satisfied with him except it's slow build up speed but I guess it's only due to stock engine.

15:15 I like how the Object 120 specifically has the inert shells and charges separated so that a turret penetration does not set off ammo but War Thunder has sill not implemented that mechanic years after the first two part rounds were first introduced. It's still one of the major drawbacks to the Chieftain that should have a fully inert turret.
What do you mean the shells still explode when hit same with the charges.
@@tmac2797 Other than HEAT (which to the best of my knowledge still doesn't have an independent module identifier), the only rounds a 120 fires are APFSDS which is an inert projectile. The only thing in the turret are the projectiles, the charges are kept in the hull. Unless the one projectile that was hit with Phly's HEAT round was also a HEAT round, there should be a O% chance of ammo detonation. The same is true (to the best of my semi old knowledge) of the Chieftains turret. If you only took APDS on that vehicle, there should be a 0% chance of ammo detonation for anything being hit in the turret. This is actually one of the reasons some tanks were designed for two part ammo, all of the explosive charges can be kept in the more protected /safer hull so a turret penetration would have a significantly lower chance of taking out the whole tank.
@@m.d.598 This whole ammo explosion thing is crap , sometimes it won't even detonate as I hit the charge . And sometimes it detonates as you hit the APHE projectiles or some that don't have any explosive in it . This is so random as the overpressure mechanic , like RNG god mode .
@@m.d.598 No the 120 also fires HEAT, at least in War Thunder, but that should still be a mechanic in the game.

I just had my 1st match in this last night and got a double ace! Closest I've ever come to a nuke. Granted it was almost a full down tier and the enemy seemed to be asleep but still.

I've been taking out the Type 62 today, and it feels like an even lower tiered MBT. It's literally a mini and shittier T-54 at 6.7. 85mm gun with HEATFS, decent speed and maneuverability for a light tank, and the only real downside is the paper armor and the turret traverse.

hey! i'd love to have your views on the F.222, it's a 1.3 french bomber, that is the heaviest bomber in the entire game (52x50kg bombs) with the con of it being really heavy, lowest turn rate and easy to stall (also no armor)

I just started war thunder about 2 weeks ago and I’ve learned so much from this guy already. I’m using the m22 right now and it’s a cheat code at 1.7
The 6.0 M41 bulldog has NV and HEATFS and commander control.
And the Vietnam War M59 is 6.0 in arcade
F6F-5 has gotten moved down from 3.7 to 3.3, with 6 HVAR’s and 2 1000 lb bombs and decent speed and agility I think it’d make a great CAS video. I use it a lot at 3.7 and it’s extremely fun and effective :) (day 2)

the leopards best shell is the hesh, it is not only quite unique or different in its application than regual shells but also very satisfying to use, and with overpressuere also very effective even against meaty targets if u know where to aim, use hessh next time!
It's best for uneven terrain but it's sucks long range. All three round that Leo has at disposal are good if you know where to aim and when to use it.

Just got the leo 1 and so far it's super fun. The German lineup at this br is kinda nuts. However I've only been using the apds (stock round, duh), when I get it should I only use the HEAT-FS?
Still a good idea to keep a few sabot on you just in case you run into something with era (like the avre).
