Gaijin is more than a little off when it comes to their physics on traction and torque. I got a WTF moment playing British on the map with the big red-ish fortress ruin(don't remember the name of it.) None of my belted vehicles could get up steep wall mounds, but my Ratel 90 and Eland, NP at all.
A question to players reading this.. The Ratel 90, it says on the sheet that it's top speed is 105 km/h, but how fast have you guys gotten it up to? My best speed was on the Cargo port map on the freeway running north-south, I barely managed to get it up to 68 before I left the battlefield. It accelerate so fff.....ing slllllow.

Tank colum? Back in the good old days, ypu could fire off all but one set of bazookas at an enemy base and kill it, or literally one shot carriers and be able to win any naval mission single handedly if your aim was good enough.
We need an aircraft version of sprocket so phly can make his plane thumbnails too

Can we all appreciate how good of a photoshop artist phly is?
The A-20 was one of the early attackers I got and I rode that thing into the ground, played so many arcade, air assault, and RB games with it. It's such a fun plane to fly, and what I love most is the 6 guns in the nose. People underestimate you because it has a bomber profile, but you can whip those guns out on them and blast 'em. I wish there were even more game modes that I could use it on.
Ah A-20... when i started playing WT in 2013, I remember A-20s were menace in AB, fast, armed to the teeth and hard to shoot down... those were the times... :D

the hurting A-20 approach was really cool. these planes sustained combat like that very well and were super effective at their job, and getting boys home.
A20 was my ultimate runway capper in AB back in the day.

All I remember about War Thunder back in the day was never, ever being able to catch the A-20s or A-26s, whatever it was, that would zoom in like a rocket to bomb, pull back up to altitude faster than any fighter I could fly, wait out the bomb reload and come back in to drop again. I remember researching all the fast Russian fighters in a desperate attempt to catch up, but I never did. It was some kind of phenomenon going on at the time.

I have only been using the U.S for both planes and tanks and have clocked 40ish hours, I'm only at a 3.7 BR. I progress sooooo slow. I have resorted to just watching phly as well.
@@TheMarioMan08 Grinding past this point without premium will be slow unfortunately. But watch good players like Phly and always try to learn their tricks. And always when you die take 5 seconds to think why. Sometimes the game is tough because you think more about killing than surviving.
Also if you decide to invest into premium, War Thunder has sales. The cheapest premium is yearly in may, about 40€ for whole year if IRC. And before it is grinding event. If you grind the top vechicle and sell it on marketplace, you will make enough money to buy yearly premium and perhaps even some for tier 3 premium vechicle that helps you with SL grind even more.
@@maksmail buying premium helps but its not needed, i reached top tier brits without buying any premium stuff for real money

I used to love the A-20 back when I first started playing back in 2013. I got so mad I quit the game for years when they made the update that nerfed splash damage on bombs so much that you couldn't kill a tank unless you pretty much hit it directly.
I remember using the A-20 in pve mode to use the rockets to obliterate bombers and the turrets to farm assists on the way by the bombers. Worked pretty well
Honestly, plating low to mid BR bombers in simulator mode is the most rewarding thing ever. It's also a lot easier than flying fighters in sim. Highly recommended.
I remember a game where I screamed into the enemy base in an AB match and wiped out nearly all of the AA.
Back when there was a mini meta about killing all the enemy base AA and you'd win by just denying repairs.
I remember playing this plane awhile back, my favorite memory of this was rocketing both wings off a Catalina at low alt in realistic. Fun times
Damn after seeing Phly go through his OG videos makes me feel old because I remember them. I remember watching WarThunder nonstop and then was so happy when I finally got it in like 2013 or 2014. Shows you I’m an OG viewer Phly, love the content even 8 years later

Flying the A-20G is one of the first Air RB memories I have (early 2016). I remember having a blast shooting at Soviet fighters with my rear gunners on Korea. Good times.
It was in arcade and the br system back then meant I was going up against p36's. Hurricanes, early spits and 109s. Literally nothing could catch me in a straight line.

Phly play the A-26 in naval. I once landed an A-26, rudder was gone, both my flaps gone, 1 engine out, left elevator out, left alerion out. Managed to land her, just barely. Its amazing how much punishment the Havoc can take!

A20-G is a beast in low BR, i still use it for fun and to get gunner seat kills, A20G is one of the 2 planes i have an Ace crew in, and the crew will almost always outlive the plane, even against 20mm
Some of my best memories of WT are meming around with the rockets on the A-20.

1:26 I remember getting my (iirc) 6.0 tempest (could have been a spitty) and flying it for the first time. I lasted 30 seconds before a HO 239 swooped in and owned me. I quit for 5 years after that game.

Day 42: Phly, you should play the Hawk III Chinese fighter; 900lbs of bombs in a biplane at 1.0 that you can dogfight in after dropping. Totally balanced.

the A20 is probably the only bomber series in game with a some what close to survivable in irl and in the normal tech tree.

I remember playing Arcade years ago with friends and one of them would run the A-20-G with rockets and I would use the Wellington with the 4000lb gunpowder barrel to destroy bases

Ok hear me out...what if Gaijin added the L-4 Grasshopper equipped with bazookas on the wings as a premium???? I mean those were a thing. How fun would that be in low tier??
it would be the worst premium in the game by a long shot
- god awful platform (think po-2 but worse in every way)
- bazooka rockets fly at some 81m/s, over 4 times slower than the m8 rockets in this video
- bazooka rockets are accurate out to only 200m in the best of conditions
- nonexistent splash damage from 60mm shaped charge
- you get all of 3 bazooka shots before you have to rearm
- nothing in terms of defensive armament unless you count shooting a 1911 out of the cockpit
it would be pretty funny as a meme plane, but if you're gonna charge real money for pixel plane it should at least be remotely effective

@@chewykalden3967 It would be terrible in the game agreed, but a Grasshopper custom outfitted with 6 M-1 bazookas (And later upgraded to m9 models), Rosie the Rocketeer, actually had an impressive career. The pilot, Charles Carpenter, had six official kills (2 of which were tiger tanks), but it's believed his unofficial count is much higher. At the very least 14-15 tank kills is believed to be the unofficial numbers. Though he also killed multiple armored vehicles and an unknown amount of infantry. I imagine that's were Ryman got the idea from.
My first experience of War thunder, I did not know how to switch off of vr mode, and got 10-12 kills every game in tank AB. One of my first few matches, an enemy was tipped, so I helped him get back up, both enemy and friendly forces passed by us not shooting either the tipped or the helper. That battle was historical

One of these landed near our other kind of ”summer house” in the country side here in finland. It was soviet pilots that were flying it thanks to the wonders of the lend lease program. They were on a recon mission and were damaged so they had to land into a small lake but missed it and crashed the plane into the forest. Some debris and a grave for two of the crew members was left. The third one (the pilot) died later in hospital. Just a cool story
A20G looks good but I went for the b25 and recently the p-47 which I have completely fallen for cannot be bothered to grind SL for next P47 and the A20. Still at least this has shown me how to use the bazookas.
