Hes always cracking a cold one for the crew after every shot, thats why it takes 5 seconds instead of the actual 4 seconds to reload.
No.......the "tsss" sound is the degasser ( not its technical name, i dont know it ) that round thing on the barrel. It helps the gasses from shooting from going back into the tank.

that "sssssss" is the fume extractor pushing all the smoke out of the barell before the breach opens
Correction the hiss is when the breach opens and all the air from inside the crew compartment rushes down the barrel. The fume extractor basically keeps the air pressure flowing in one direction thus when the breach opens air rushes down the barrel instead of sitting still and seeping into the crew compartment.

It’s a bore evacuator and it’s not the air rushing back into the tank. It does trap and expel the extra gas though. Ww2 tankers would get all high and shit and sometimes pass out if they were firing for extended periods of time

M1A1 is supposed to have exactly the same armor as IPM1, so it will get better protecc ability
It really should have better armor as the IP was only a temporary solution upgrade by extending the turret with the portions of M1A1 package that was ready. also there is nowhere else that 4 tons could disappear to.
M1A1HA and M1A1HC are what you're thinking of, simply put, the M1A1 is just an IPM1 with a 120 and better engine as well as new blowout panels.

@@bobsjepanzerkampfwagen4150 the infrared vision used on the Panther was not a thermal imaging however, it was just a night-vision (light intensifier) which still needed some light to work (and even then it was of very limited range within under 150 m) and only the commander had the infrared vision, but not the gunner. So the gunner was still blind. Only the commander could look through the infrared vision and give the gunner some vague coordinates where to look at (and try to find the target)...
This doesn't even compare to a real thermal imaging like that used in the 1980's which relied on the heat signatures only and didn't need any visibile light to work.
It should have the same protection as the IPM1... I hope that is dev server shenanigans.

Elijah Ramer The M1A1 is literally just an M1IP with the 120. The armor is the same between the two variants, with the M1A1HA being the next to receive additional armor.
And the HA is the one which has less Chemical protection... Around 850 to 900 millimeters worth, for much improved protection against KE rounds.

@@beowulfsword237 It has around the same Chemicals protection as the original M1, down from the 1200 of the IPM1. That happens because it gives up a layer of chobham for the Uranium layer. But that uranium gives much improved kinetic protection, which, personally, I would rather have.

Why modern Abram tank can punch harder:
It all comes down to greater chamber pressure and depleted uranium penetrator. Yes L55 has been considered for the Abram, but cons outweighs pros.
One TC said after test firing that thermal drift of the longer barrel caused the round grouping to dance around like his daughter in dance class. L55 is said to require readjustment after every 5 shots, while L44 does not require one until dozens of rounds are fired.
Furthermore, the greater chamber pressure and depleted uranium meant that even fired from L44 barrel, Abram shell can still penetrate deeper than L55 guns.
Pretty sure that if its anything that hissing noise after firing is the bore evacuator clearing the bore and barrel before the breech opens into the turret.
Shame it's after the M1IP.. I don't want to grind 600k :/

Phly, if there's one thing I wanna ask, its how you manage to make War Thunder an enjoyable game. I find it extremely competitive. Even at low tier, I never seem to ease up. The sound you hear is the bore evacuator. Basically creates a pressure difference when shooting so that almost all of the fumes from the round are pushed out due to pressure differences.

The tiger (I don't personally have it) but from what other people said its not a brawler tank but a sniper really as anything at your teir can pen you (especially Sabot if uptiered) unless it's got a weak pen but still but again that's what I've heard also yes Phly should make a video on it

And the Abrams has Rheinmetall L44 canon which is on the Leopard 2s. Its just produced in america so it has a different name. So why does it have so much better round than the Leopard?

Ondřej Konečný because we use two different rounds IRL, and ours have better penetrators. The M829 family is easily the greatest APFSDS there is.
Just because it might look the same it's really not you can not fire any German rounds out of the American 120 and the same can be say other way around

They did get Rh120 L44 built on America but they did their own research on making their own ammo instead of using NATO ammo.

Phly its the 60 degree pen that matters more. Take whatever number it is and multiply it by 2 to get the max effective armor penetration.
Also the Armor values are being worked on and will very likely change.

Models are M35a2's. Exhaust is forward on the deuce and a half, back on the 5 tons. They seriously spent some time on those models too, they got the fuel tank on the correct side, they put the soft tops. Hell, they even got the correct front bumper for the truck.

To explain the armor on the M1A1, the regular M1A1 doesn't have DU armor, only the M1A1 HA does.

The hissing could very well be the bore evacuation system, the bulge on the cannon. It keeps noxious gasses from entering the crew compartment after the gun fires
It's the chamber fume evacuater I think is what it's called its a blast of compressed air to blow out any smoke/toxic fumes from firing the main gun out the muzzle of the gun to minimize its effects on the crew

Try camouflaging your self in enemy colours and get behind enemy lines , see how long it takes them to notice you.

The hiss is the bore evacuator blowing the smoke and gasses out of the barrel so it won't get sucked back into the crew compartment after the shot. If you watch a real Abrams fire, you will see a secondary puff of gasses after the shot, that's what this is. It comes from the bulge in the barrel.
When a M1 Fires its 120mm gun the only thing that comes out of the breach when they open it is the very back part of the casing where the primer that detonates the charge is found they sometimes can have fire still in them when they come out probably where the sizzling sound comes from. There is actually a company that makes ashtrays out of them.

The hiss sound is the bore evacuator venting the gasses out of the gun while the breach is opening. It's a necessary function on the gun to prevent the crew from being asphyxiated by leftover gasses in the gun when firing multiple consecutive rounds.
