What?
Im on that too!
¡Yo estoy en eso también!

Ya bro me tooooo
I'm a full laryngectomy (no vocal chords). My implant that allowed me to "talk" has been malfunctioning a lot and I've decided to learn ASL. Your videos have been such an amazing starting point, even for simple one word communication. Thank you so much for how you do you tutorials. You've made starting to learn so much easier. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your story! It's great that you're learning ASL to maintain your communication - so important. Keep it up and be well.
@@ASLMeredith my son is two and has hearing but I have been learning sign with him. He has a tendency to say he wants a bite bite when he is hungry. How do you recommend to switch to using the term and sign food? Just start saying food right after bite bite instead? We are changing changing vocabulary to match the signs vocabulary so he can understand more terms
@@mariahbreckenridge3442 That's really cute :'D
Wow, thank you! I appreciate you repeating them + signing slowly, it's very helpful for someone just starting out.
Thank YOU for the kind feedback! I'm so glad you find these beginner videos useful for learning.
My son is autistic and sometimes goes nonverbal when he's frustrated or overwhelmed. Learning sign language is making it so much easier for him to communicate when he's having a hard time emotionally. These videos are super helpful and he has fun learning them with me ❤
The specific signs being taught are very clearly demonstrated, and the full presentation using the language helps show it applied realistically. Very nicely done, thank you.
Thanks, Ericus! So glad you found this video helpful for learning.
I LOVE that you show from different angles and break down the components of the sign, especially facial gestures and hand formation! very helpful, it adds alot of unspoken context.
Your videos have helped me so much as an owner of a retail chain. I have several customers who sign and they really appreciate the effort we try to put into that communication gap!
Yay! I'm so glad that you're able to use these tutorials to communicate with your customers. Keep up the good work!! (If you like my style, please stay in touch at aslmeredith.com/newsletter )
This is best UA-cam channel I’ve found for learning sign language! Thank you so much for making these videos!!
WOW, thank you, Liz, for this very kind comment! I'm so glad you enjoy learning from these videos :D :D
I absolutely agree
At 56 yrs old I'm going deaf so this is really helpful to me thanks so much
Thanks for your note! I'm so glad you find these useful; hope they help you learn ASL and you can use it to communicate!
The thing that you do better than anyone is that you caption everything and repeat everything slowly. I learn so much from your videos. Best ASL channel on UA-cam. Great job.
Thank you for the positive feedback, Vince! I'm so glad you find my video format and pace helpful for learning. :)
@@ASLMeredith you are absolutely welcome and I seriously can not thank you enough for how much I am learning from your videos. Great Job!!
I can’t wait to be able to communicate with some of the deaf customers at my job. I just wish they would talk to me either way 😒 beautiful language.
Most deaf people can't talk...
My baby can hear but does not speak at almost 2 and a half thank you for your videos, accepting the fact he needs help was the hardest thing ever! 😢 Your videos are making it possible for us to communicate, we have seen ever specialists possible and his teacher said to start learning sign language so that is what we are doing, bless you all 🤗
Wow, thank you! I appreciate you repeating them + signing slowly, it's very helpful for someone just starting out.😊
I love how you use other signs to describe a sign. Thinking of "like" in terms of an 8 handshape will definitely help me remember. Also I'm so glad I watched this because until now I've been signing must and need the exact same
Thanks, Sophia! Glad the descriptions help. That's called a "handshape" -- when you identify the shape of the hand (for any sign) by the shape known for a letter, number, or other special shape. :)
WhatsApp come soon Yes too me you call me come soon love you too 💗👍🤝💖❤️💕👌❣️💞🙏🙏💓🏠🏢

You have everything! I’m so glad I found this channel or I won’t be fluent!
Thank you! I just made a new friend about a week ago and I want to learn ASL so I can talk with her. She's SO amazing and she's teaching me a lot but I can't expect to teach me everything so I want to learn some on my own.
Awesome lesson! Thank you for teaching so thoroughly!
thank you for showing side profiles! Soooo much easier to learn!
Glad it helps!
Love your classes, you show all angles
Glad you find it useful, thanks!!
Thank you for doing it in different angles
Great videos.
I am learning a lot through this and helpful in understanding the little bits of signing. I don't really have any questions after watching, you seem to answer them all.
Mahalo
I’ve seen some old vids and I love the audio voiceover so I can focus on the signing than the subtitles as a hearing person!
Thanks for this positive feedback! I'm glad you appreciate this format and find it useful.
Thank you so much for making these videos, we have been slowly teaching my son ASL as he has issues communicating sometimes, and your videos are such a great help! It also in turn helps me communicate with my deaf uncle which is wonderful.
Thanks for the kind feedback! I'm glad these help you learn ASL to communicate with your uncle and also your son !
Wonderful ASL sample so much good.
Just subscribed after watching several of your videos. I appreciate the way you explain what you're signing and show what you're doing from several angles. Thank you for helping me learn a new language.
Thank YOU for the encouraging feedback! So glad you find these video formats useful for learning. Keep up the good work!
You are so great thank you! I use your videos to teach my preschool kids mantras. December is going to be “I choose my attitude, I choose gratitude! I have what I need inside of me!” If you could do a video of this mantra I would be forever grateful as I am mostly guessing how the structure is.
Excellent. Thank you.
SO love your videos they are PERFECT for someone who is trying to teach themselves ASL
Thanks, Kat! I'm so glad you find these helpful for self-study.
Thank you, ASL is giving me a new lease on life, it's so helpful to me. I
Can talk but I choose not too & you
Are such a good teacher. ASL is so
Natural for you. Subscribed & thumbs

Thanks for sharing! I'm so glad you're embracing ASL for your daughter.
Thanks for sharing 🙏
thanks you so much i’m taking an ASL class and my teacher signs to fast this is really helpful 🥺
Corrected all signs so good yes l watched your video great Meredith l cheer you very much ! Wink
Its crazy, I came here because I tried to imagine how I'd first naturally express "want" if I were deaf and accidentally coming up with my own signs. I wanted to see how close it would be to a real sign language and it actually coincidentally turned out the same! Except I imagined my hands curling up a bit more at the end (to be fair, if I actually tried it maybe I would have found that I wouldn't curl them as much as I thought)
I chose 'want' because I thought it'd be such a primitive fundamental sign anyone would inevitably want to express early, and a bare emotion -- and not something starting to get too abstract or something that would be expressed later after already coming up with other signs influencing how you'd want to express with your hands.
Thank you!! Working on signs with my litte one whom is non verbal.
Like your tutoring videos!! 👍 it’s been really helpful!
Thank you for the kind feedback! I'm glad you find this video and format helpful in learning ASL :) If you like my style, subscribe to my free email newsletter! I send more lessons and videos monthly :) aslmeredith.com/newsletter
Thank you for making this! I use a lot of TPR (using physical movement to show word examples) when I teach my ESL classes and I think ASL will help with that a lot!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing :) hope it helps
Hi I’m new to ASL and I’m really glad I found this channel because I enjoy every second of it. I love to learn languages but find it hard. And you make it really easy. I hope this inspires you to more because you inspire me. Goodbye! 😄
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found this channel too! Thank you for the kind comment
I'm not deaf, but I just started learning ASL (as in JUST). I started learning it because there was concern after my mom's throat cancer returned that she wouldn't be able to speak (thankfully, she still can), but I did want to learn if she couldn't because I still wanted some way to communicate with her (which looking back, she doesn't sign, so it would have been a one way street, but no matter because ASL is such a beautiful language). Anyways, all that to say, I really enjoy these videos. They're really informative, not just on vocabulary, but also grammar.
Thanks Meredith. You make it easy
Happy to help!!! Glad you find these helpful :D
I love the way you teach
Thanks, Janien! I'm glad you find these video formats useful for learning.
These videos are great
wow your video is really great, I just found it and you explain great how to sign something, I really want to learn more, more and more in ASL and you make it easier
Thank you so much, Julia! I'm so glad you find these videos useful. Hope you continue learning and hope my channel continues to be helpful :)
I like the way you teach, my English is not very well but I can understand with your words and subtitles. I have a deaf child. He is ASL and you help me a lot. Thank you so much 🤘🏽
Hi there! Thanks for your message; I'm glad you find these useful and hope they help you and especially your child communicate!
This was very helpful thank you!! I subscribed!! 😁
Out of so many different types of signing instructors.
Your style matches my friend's teaching's. TKS
Cool!
ive subscribed, thank you so much for all your videos I'm going to go over it everyday and learn from you

I am learning ASL at church but have not been catching on too quickly. Your videos are the best out there and are helping me so much. Thanks for posting!
Thanks so much for this very kind feedback! I'm so glad you find these videos useful for learning ASL, and hope they help you communicate with other congregants!
Thank you so much for explaining and showing what I need to keep practicing to communicate with my deaf puppy!
Aw, love that you're signing with your deaf pupp!
Thank you 😊
Liked this so much.
Thanks!
I am not deaf, but like others I want to communicate with the customers who are. I am glad that your videos have verbal explanations as well as the way you sign slowly. I have slowed the speed of the other videos down to 50% to "see" the full sign. Because they sign too fast.
Thank you so much for your videos!!!! ❤️
Thank YOU, Angelika! I'm so glad you find these useful :)
hi this is very helpful thank you
Als Meredith your the Bestest sign language teacher.😆😆🎉🎊🎊🎉🎉💖 luv your vids so helpful

:D Keep up the good work, then!
Thank you Meredith I really learned alot! I am taking an online ASL class and this video helps
Thank YOU, Sheena! Glad this helps with your study :)
Hello Meredith! I am currently working on my BS in Social Work and I find it extremely important to be able to communicate in ASL. So, I have decided to learn ASL as any other class during the summer. As soon as I found you I have been hook on your videos. Thank you for making them easy to follow and for good beautiful smile. Next, I'd have to find a meetup group so I can not only practice and get feedback, but also have a better understanding of the deaf community.
Lots of blessings to you and thank you for your patience.
Hi Maria, thank you for sharing your "why"! It's certainly invaluable for you to have more direct communication with people you may work with in the future. Kudos for taking the initiative to learn ahead of time. Yes -- having a meetup group will be so useful for practicing! Keep up the good work!
another good asl teacher to watch is bill vicars, he is amazing and hilarious. I am watching his videos as part of my homeschooling :)
Agree, he and his videos are fantastic!!
Thank you so much Meredith. Very well done and laid out.
I am currently on a bus run with students that attend Rochester School for the Deaf, which I’ve really grown to enjoy. Review is always good. Thanks again,
Darin😁
That's so great! Glad you found this useful.
Very great
Gracias
Thank you
Very helpful! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this!
Glad you find this useful!
Finally I needed this video
Excellent !
Thanks
Thank you! My toddler has a speach delay and teaching her ASL helps her to communicate so much. At her age she supposed to put 2+ words to make a sentence. which she can’t do verbally , but is learning to do with ASL. Your videos help me teach her! Thank you so much
WhatsApp come soon Yes too me you call me come soon love you too ❤️💕👌❣️💞🙏🙏💓🏠🏢💖🤝👍💗
Thank you! Now that my Deaf daughter is no longer in school and plus she is no longer here, she's in heaven. I have no access to ASL school/classes. I was in small free classes at her school a long time ago. That was 10 years ago. After she graduated from school I had no more classes. My daughter was teaching me. But i need more help and I will have certificate in ASL in the future, I cannot get into community colleges. You put these videos here and it is such a big help!!! Thank you 🤟
Hi Raylene, so sorry for your loss. I'm glad that you're still looking to improve your ASL and maintain a connection to the language and community.
Hiya! I was wondering if you have a video on how to sign animals? Oh, and thanks for making these videos! I make some, too! I love how you explain that there are different ways to say the same thing! It really helps when I’m talking to somebody who wouldn’t sign something the same way I do. So thanks!
Thank you so much for these videos :)
Thank YOU for learning with me! I'm glad you find them useful for learning ASL :)
Meredith : "I want dessert."
Me, a beginner *sees* : "I want to meet"
That's fair, they're similar! Keep an eye on the handshape (D vs 1 - i.e. is the fist open or closed) and the movement (double tap vs one movement inward).
I enjoy your videos, although I haven't watched in a while (I must get back to it). Would you please consider a video for "thank you" and "good"? I thought they were the same sign but then thought I noticed a difference in another video you posted a while back. However, would like to see that again, intentionally, if you wouldn't mind. By the way, I love that you show signs from all angles and include variations. That is helpful, and it is something others do not include in their videos.
ur the best
Thank you^^
THANK YOU VERY MUCH ❤️
You're very welcome! Glad you find these useful.
you are great!!!
Thanks so much, Isa! I'm glad you find these videos useful :)
Am watching Bill Vicars as well he has a review on each segment, pretty neat to test with
Yes, his website has great resources!
Hey Merideth! love the video! I hope to become as smooth with my signing as you soon! I did notice that you mixed "dessert" for "date" though.
I look forward to watching more videos from you!
Hi there! Thank you for the kind feedback! I'm glad you find these videos useful :) and I'll definitely have more videos coming out end of summer and in the fall. As an FYI - the signs for "date" and "dessert" are actually the same! Context of the conversation typically helps you distinguish them. (Some people sometimes fingerspell 'dessert' or sign 'sweets', too.) . Hope this helps!
I signed up for your newsletter!
Awesome, thanks! You'll get June's letter this week! :)
Thanks great video.
Thank YOU!
these are so helpful thank you! i'm learning to potentially help kids i meet in therapy. though most kids with autism used modified ASL, it is helpful to be able to recognize certain signs if they know them.
Thanks for your message! Glad this helps you communicate and work with your clients.
I really love this but I have a learning disability I have a hard time retaining words but once I learn something I keep it I love how you teach I just wish you could send me a link that could teach me slower because of my cancer i will need to be able to communicate with my family thank you for the few words I was able to learn please continue with the amazing job
ممنون

@@ASLMeredith I just want to ask, but are you deaf Ms. Meredith?
@@albertjohnpunzalan1484 Great question, Albert! I am not deaf; I am hearing. More on my background with ASL and the Deaf community can be found in the "About" tab in my UA-cam profile or on my Website for more detail. Thanks!
Thumbs up!
My brother is hard of hearing and is slowly losing his hearing over time, so I want to learn ASL so we can communicate as we age. These videos are really helpful! Thanks :D

Hi I’m so glad I found you’re videos! I’ve always been interested in learning ASL and I have been getting a customer at work who uses it and I would love to be able to communicate with her. My first question before I get started is, I’m left handed, can I sign with my left hand as my dominant hand or do I have to use my right?
Thank you so much! I teach children with varying intellectual disabilities and I use these a lot and just realized I was signing like, like white! Lol so glad I found this thanks for the help!
