- English "Right" translates into several different concepts in ASL signs, and "wrong" also has a bunch of interesting variations to know. In this video, you'll learn the different ways to translate "right" into sign language, and also how to say "wrong", "what's wrong?", "mistakes / error", and "something went wrong' in American Sign Language. Enjoy!

My 4 month old grandson was recently fitted with hearing aids. While we hope he is helped by them we are planning to be able to communicate with him however he needs us to. We've been working with ASL books and flashcards for a few months but I found your videos yesterday and feel like we could learn a lot from you. Thank you. 😊
I wish all ASL videos for beginners were like this: clear, showing the sign from multiple angles, giving examples of usage. This is how it's done--thank you!
Thank you, Liam! I'm so glad you find this video format useful for learning :)
Love the way you explain the meanings of the different words. I am learning more in two minutes using your video, than I am learning in three hours in a ASL class in college.
Thanks for the encouraging feedback! I'm so glad you find these videos so useful for learning.
same !))))))
Any time I am having trouble with a sign while studying, I come to your channel. You do a wonderful job for ASL beginners! Thank you

Thank you for these videos. On a lighter note: it was hard to ignore not knowing "left" after learning how to say "right(side)".
Move the "L" handshape toward your left :)
This is the BEST ASL channel! I love how she shows the signs from different angles. Thank you.

"I was wrong, sorry." That happens to me so many times because I use the wrong 'sign'. I can't be an export right away. I will keep practicing till we get all things done right!
I just found your channel and I am SO SO happy that I did!!!! You are such a great teacher!! Thank you so much :)

Thank YOU, Justin, for the kind feedback. I'm so glad you find these useful for learning.
Hello! Thank you so much for making these videos! I have a request. I work at an apartment community and sometimes we have a deaf delivery person asking for directions. Can you please make a video for directions? Like RIGHT, LEFT, NEARBY, UPSTAIRS, NEXTDOOR, etc.? Example sentence: “this door to the left goes to the elevators.” I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks for the great suggestion! Just added this to my list :)
Thank you so much!!! I hope to one day teach little kids asl so they can talk to anyone. I'll always remember I started here!! Thank you so much!!!!!😄😄😄😄💜💜💜💜💜
Thank YOU! So glad you find these useful.

Thank you so much again Meredith 💓
Hi......I m your new student from India .... Your teaching method is very nice..... Thanks
Thanks! I'm so glad you find it helpful in learning ASL!
@@ASLMeredith really thanks
I enjoy your videos. I am a new subscriber and have watched numerous videos. I am finally going back to review and will "like" and comment on several - To make my experiences better.
I only knew one way to use "wrong" before, now I know three! :)
Awesome, Taylor!
Your the best. I follow u on instagram too, and I’m learning so much!!!
Yay I'm so glad you find my videos useful!! :) Thanks
Thank you! Could I make a recommendation? I'm just learning ASL because I have a deaf puppy that I am fostering. Could you do a video on the most common dog commands? I have a pocket dictionary of signing but I learn better watching and you make things very clear. The videos for training dogs with hand signs focus more on the dog and not on how to make the sign.
The one I'm most eager to learn is Gentle.
Again thank you so much
Hi Jackie, thanks for the request! I'm not surprised that dog training videos aren't too particular with the signs - because they're not teaching a *language*. They're teaching gestures that your dog will learn *from you*, regardless of how you end up producing the signal. (Dogs - even deaf ones - aren't born knowing sign language ;) ) so it makes sense that those videos aren't too specific. If you have specific suggestions for commands you'd most like to learn, please feel free to submit them to my request form here: aslmeredith.com/request
Lol, the " wrong, incorrect, ect." is our " shaka " sign meaning " hi, what's up, ect.". Mahalo (thanks) from Honolulu Hawaii
Thanks for sharing ! But the shaka sign isn't done at the chin, right ? Position matters! The shaka gesture (I think) is more like the sign YELLOW :)
Nice!! I always enjoy review.😊
I love your classes.
you should get on tiktok. its great for words or phrases that dont need elaborate videos. love your channel!!
aw thanks! Ya I gotta keep up with the kids these days ;) do people use tiktok for things like this too? Not just for fun and silly videos? Instagram and UA-cam keep me pretty busy but I'll take this reminder to consider tiktok , thanks!
Love your style. Thank you.
Thank YOU, Patrick! I'm so glad you find this useful for learning :)

Hi! I just started following your videos. I work in a candy shop, and there are several deaf customers who come in. It is very important that I describe the candy to all of the customers just in case there is an allergy. Can you do a video about candy and nuts and "is it an allergy or you just don't like nuts" kind of thing?
Thanks for this great suggestion! Just added it to my list.
Thank you
Thanks, Cameron!
THANK YOU FOR THIS LECTURE~~~

Thank you, Rafael! I'm so glad you find this useful.
@@ASLMeredith You're welcome Meredith.
So if someone wants to sign, "What about my rights," would it be correct to sign: rights, my, what?
good morning Meredith how you? you are correct. signs right, I am mistake on fwy route. sample sign, you are correct to right lane, I sample,. few signs okay, have a nice warm my friend, high five, see you soon smiles meredith
I have a question about lexicalized signs... Words such as “early” or “busy” lexicalized but there is also an actual sign for early and busy. Is there a certain time where it matters which one I use? Or is it just what I prefer
A simple question with a complex answer :) It depends on the sign. Some words are the lexicalized version only (typically the case with things like new technology, eg: FAX). Others have equal signs that are either old/new (eg: FUN), or equivalent in conversation (eg: BUS, FIX). Others actually can have slightly different connotations (eg: EARLY, where the lexical version is less common and may be used more for 'early in the morning', as a time period, as opposed to general meaning of EARLY as 'in advance of' or 'ahead of time'.) So it depends! In most cases the person you're talking to will be able to understand either way.
What video would be the best to watch if I'm just starting off with asl?
Check out my beginner conversational signs video! Made for new learners: ua-cam.com/video/RhQvlq-mZtA/v-deo.html
Meredith is it ok to use my left hand? I bought a book on the alphabet and they said to use your right hand only if you want to learn to sign correctly. Is this true?
Hi there! Yes you can sign with your left hand! See this video for more information: ua-cam.com/video/7aUa50q0GcE/v-deo.html The important thing is to be consistent - don't switch back and forth between hands.
ok
I start my ASL classes January 17 I hope I pass I don't know anything about ASL
Wooo so exciting !!!! If it's a level 1 class then you'll be fine :) I doubt they'd expect you to have prior knowledge. Just go in with an open mind and willingness to learn! 👍
I am right now l told you that sweetheart honey Meredith's signs different other to your signs right and wrong ! Applaud beautiful signs !
👍👍👍
She is fantastic but also "Very Cute"

Thanks for the feedback! I generally wear black (and nicer hair/makeup 😂) for the UA-cam videos, but these were casual clips from Instagram. The real me in regular clothes!
