Definitely a keeper for years to come
Really good mod, but 30.06 reciever ends up being weaker than tuned powerful reciever with better locational damage unfortunately, wich make it useless if you use BLD, still better than 50 cal reciever and of course i know this isnt your fault.
It really is odd how the Hunting Rifle exists in Fallout 4. In a game infested by overly bulky and unreasonable designs, it stands out as one of the three vanilla ballistic weapons that would actually be used if it was real. The only major design oddity is that it's made to be left-handed. This has made it so most modders can just focus on making it cooler. I was also unaware of some of these mods (namely MA Optics), which I think I will be adding to my LO.
@@Pigness7 Hey by any chance do you know how one goes about becoming a porter? I'm currently thinking about doing so just to get the latest BCR verison on Xbox because the current one doesn't work.....I just want to fix said lever actions reload...
@@Pigness7 Slight misunderstanding in regards to the lever action, when I said vanilla I meant pre-DLC. In my opinion the DLCs generally did some good work when it comes to guns. Albeit, with some mild mechanical issues (like the lever action's reload) and more left handed models. In regards to the double barrel, I think it's just a bit too oversized (which is an opinion I have about several of Fallout 4's weapons). Though this may simply be a consequence of how it appears in first person. Lastly, the Deliverer is actually "one of the three" that I indirectly mentioned in my original comment (the other being the Revolver). Probably should have specified.
Honestly, the whole Bethesda making certain firearms left-hand thing was kinda dumb. Right up there with Bethesda's artistic direction with some of the iconic weapons (i.e. the assault rifle)

the .50 ammo in fallout 4 isn't 50 bmg though, if you look at the model of the ammo box(by dropping multiple bullets at once) it's actually .5000 jeffrey, wich is just a large hunting calibre, and would fit into a hunting rifle
This is such an elegant solution. I adore the Remington 700 mod, but a lot of the rifle's mods are too modern and tactical to fit well in a lore friendly modded playthrough. An R700-imitation should be the standard bolt-action, civillian hunting rifle in Fallout, imo, and fixing the vanilla rifle like this fits the bill perfectly. It's realistic enough for immersion but "gamified" enough to fit in a Fallout sandbox.
As a left handed person it would be nice if there were more mods that simulated left-handedness. For those who think that's trivial, consider how many times Dak has commented the left-handed config on these weapons is an issue for right-handed folk.
i think it would be doable but you would need to make it so you can mirror the gun without the animations being in your face as to not carry over the "using the wrong arm" for the animations but the main problem would be clipping
Do you mean make mods that give you a disadvantage when using a right-handed weapon as a lefty? Otherwise, if you mean make all weapons left handed that doesn't make sense. Left handed weapons are somewhat of a rarity
@tylerbryanhead In a science fiction world based in constant war, I would imagine the existence and abundance of left handed weapons to be more believable than genetic super monsters. Thank you for all that you do, and I look forward to seeing all the new weapons and armor you'll introduce in the future!
Even though I hate all the oversized and stupid-looking vanilla guns in F4 I never use the hunting rifle despite it being the one non-stupid looking gun. It feels incredibly underwhelming. The feedback's dull, the left-handedness is bizarre, the sound it makes is pathetic- all the vanilla gun sounds are weak- and it doesn't do enough damage. This is exactly what it needs. Nice one Dak, you've done it again.
On the subject of SFX, I absolutely despise the 10mm pistol suppressor sound effect. I don't know why they chose, what sounds like, an air freshener spritz for a gun report SFX... Drives me nuts every time I hear it. lol
There's a 45-70 reciever mod too that makes sense for the damage it does. I don't think I've ever seen a R700 in 45-70 but there's plenty of converted Spanish/Chilean mauser rifles that got converted
My only gripe with hunting rifle reanimations to make em right handed, is that they also effect the CC Anti-Material Rifle xD but I still use the modded hunting rifles as they feel soo much better than the vanilla.
The Hunting Rifle is one of those guns that's pretty easy to fix with mods. A right-handed animation replacer, combined with something to buff the damage so that it can take down enemies with a single shot, even at later levels. I'm using Crafting Framework by DankRafft, which renders all weapon overhaul mods redundant by allowing you to tweak the balance of any weapon in the game to your personal preference. For the Hunting Rifle, it's as easy as cranking the damage up to 500% at the weapon workbench.

Why they decided to only have a single SMG and have it as an early game weapon I’ll never understand. I believe the main reason why all weapons were “left handed” is because of Nate and possibly other characters. But for complete unknown reasons it wasn’t implemented properly due to time constraints. There’s nothing wrong with left handed rifles. It’s just completely pointless if ALL CHARACTERS IS RIGHT HANDED ANYWAYS. In the Fallout 4 cutscene, it had shown Nate is holding a laser rifle left handed. I am surprised they have NEVER retconned this back to the original vision. Like they have either dementia or want to play the guessing game with their fans. So they had ALL WEAPONS LEFT HANDED regardless.

Have you tried the Micalov 10mm Pistol Debulked remesh? It has a Daks attachment pack verison that works with the attachment pack, which DAP also includes better attachments and a .44 Receiver conversion that really can make the gun more viable for late game. It's definitely one of the best weapons for a rifleman build. The gauss rifle would be a great design imo if it were a prototype weapon. I think it's too bulky, even for power armor use. Would be cool if the base design was a unique prototype weapon and then another more refined gauss rifle could be seen on BOS or Institute troops. Also, never really understood why the Railroad gets gauss rifles as their main infantry weapon. Seems out of place. IDK...
@@astrodreamer946 Sure it may be bulky but if a hand held railgun (which is basically what the fallout 4 gauss rifle is) was ever made it wouldn't be small and light. The Railroad having them doesn't make sense but remember the existence of pipe guns and the "assault rifle" showed that whoever was in charge of weapons at bugthesda for 4 didn't care that applies to both what weapons are available and who got them like it makes no sense that 99% of raiders and settlers have only pipe guns when that number should be around 80% because there's no way raiders and/or settlers haven't gotten lucky and defeated better armed groups (super mutants, gunners, hostile synths, etc) and taken their guns
Do you not think the one that made the rifle for fallout 4 was actually right-handed instead of left-handed? I am right-handed when it comes to boat action rifles so when I realized fallout 4 had white-handed bolt actions I like it cuz left-handed both actions for right-handed person is hard to use. That's why you see right-handed people use semi-automatic rifles a lot, so don't fix it just because you might be left-handed
I would also say another mod which would help with this list is "Spadey and Pizza's additional stocks" mod. Which obviously adds what it says, adding new stocks which look IMO lore friendly and making the hunting rifle look even more unique. Going from the Obrez look to an Intervention or a Anti Material Rifle lookalike! But these mods what I use in my mod load order and it really does make the hunting rifle feel and play much better. Hi, have you tried the Conversions - Munitions for all Vanilla Weapons This mod has a patch for Daks Attachment pack and adds to all Vanilla weapons new receivers that change the ammo type and are on pair with the best modification for receivers. The hunting rifle gets a whole new range of ammo including .30-06.
Beware though it can be funky with some remeshs due to it modifying the receiver part of a weapon, it only keeps it in a Vanilla mesh but it does work with right handed reanimation, at least the ones by hitman.
@@assassinzakral7023 First time when I read this I was super happy Vanilla With Munitions + Attachment pack I want this so much But they overdid it in this cooking. biggest plus of Munitions Is a fact that you have control of what ammo type you want uin Your own sandbox . I want to see more single bullet or clip fed rather than magazine fed guns in Fallout. It's just weird to imagine someone carrying many 5 rounds magazines in their pouch. It also saves a lot more space and weight carrying bullets or clips in pouches or bandolier. Contrary to most video games, you don't need to empty your gun before loading a stripper clip, just shove the bullets in and keep the rest. So from gameplay perspective, it doesn't take much longer time to reload.
It still annoys me that WHO TF made the guns left sided honestly I hope that person got fired we have to mod and fix everything Bethesda did FNV they did amazing to amazing for the guns but FO4 FINE I'LL DO IT MYSELF
the weapon design decisions in this game are baffling and worse in every way compared to NV and even FO3 and we get modable plasma and laser splitters but not the ones to make the fallout 3 and fallout nv ones just a generic 5 projectile beam/ball instead of the tribeam, multiplas, metal blaster emitters for 3 and 9 beams/blasts
changing the ammo type shouldnt be a thing unless you have bullet drop etc. bullet drop would have made fallout 4 bullet weapons so much more interesting and made laser weapons extremely valuable mid to late game. switch it to a magnum reciever rather than .30-06. increase speed of the round, bullet drop isnt severe and extra damage at critical hits so shooting someone in the head does way more damage. fallout 4 needs to get rid of bullet sponges for regular npcs, levels should effect armor pool and weapons but should make a single guy with knife the ability to take 40 shots of .308 to the head. thats what made the hunting rifle useless.

I've used right handed animations for 90% of my 1.5K hours playing, i wanted to change things up this time. also some people thgat are pure Vanilla plus would prpabaly want to keep the OG style (as bad as it is) as original as possible while just updatiung visual and animation's and not redoing meshes. but thats just my take
@@spaceman53 Fair enough.
This should be a full series so every weapon can be improve in some way
Some will better than others unfortunately
We need more tacti-cool mod bundles
DAAAAKKKKKK- MAKE A 12.7MM SMG AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
A little late here, but See Through Scopes would've been nice to see get mentioned.
Jajaja the comment on configuration of the hunting rifle sounded like:
Being left handed is not inherently bad but I is not right either hahaha
Might I also suggest, equilibrium? The massive balance mod that makes weapons feel better in general?
Wardaddy’s right handed anims are so much more fluent and natural in my opinion. I think hitman’s anims are amazing but they seem to be a bit much
There is a mod bundle that improves the animations of the original vanilla weapons.
Someday, Dak is going to run out of stimpacks in his gameplay footage. :3
Also Hunting Rifle Anim.Replacer FTW
300 win mag makes more sense for a short action
@@acan0n 300 win mag is not a short action round
So wish the hunting rifle was right handed Ed from the start
Could you do the 10mm pistol next?
Hey Dak
Love you mods! Have you experimented with Side Aim Framework? It's a really cool mod, if somewhat fiddly to patch weapons to work with.
what about the 10mm for the next one? i've been looking for a way to make one viable through the whole game/a good chunk of it so i can do a run with only the one from vault 111
Have you tried the Micalov 10mm Pistol Debulked remesh? It has a Daks attachment pack verison that works with the attachment pack, which DAP also includes better attachments and a .44 Receiver conversion that really can make the gun more viable for late game. Micalovs remesh just makes the gun size more realistic than the huge pistol we get in the vanilla game.
I don't suppose you'd try making any compatible attachments to the CC's AMR then, eh?
Plasma and Laser weapons sure could use a facelift.
Micalov makes some great remeshs of the laser rifle and the laser Musket, both have patches for the attachment pack as well.
Surprised that you didn’t include the semi-auto conversion mod in this video
Just a heads up that these animations paired with see through scopes makes it to certain armors will block your sight.
How is the vanilla attachments is modded so replace the short stock and barrel with something better?
30.06 reciever ends up being weaker than tuned powerful reciever with better locational damage unfortunately, wich make it useless if you use BLD, still better than 50 cal reciever
Dak you should do how to fix the 10mm pistol next.
Are you the Dak that makes all of those really good armor mods and stuff?
I wish there was a mod that corrected the name to "bolt action rifle"
3:15 how come the remington logo is backwards? Is that because the right handed animation flips the model?
that recoil is WAY too high my man, you'd think that shit was a 6.5 creedmore.
I actually think the idea of left handed recievers like on an ak isn't a bad idea the majority of people would reload an ak with thier left hand right? So it would just make it easier to use?
I noticed alot of stutters in the video ,are you experiencing the new nividia drivers stutter Syndrome Like me?
the best right-handed hunting rifle, imo, is the battlefield 1 version :)
Quick question. Is the attachment pack compatible with ECO?
Yes, as someone who uses it. Just double check for any patches you might need, but I’m pretty sure out of the box it works fine
@@jeremytownsend6805 much appreciated
You should make one for the 10mm pistol
you should do a video on the combat rifle
what green environtment mod you're using
love the goldneye gunshot sound effect mod but it sucks cuz the m12 handmade rife doesn't have advanced rapid with the k7 soviet speed fire rate the m12 mod on xbox. please tell the modder to fix that problem & add more goldeneye mod
Hey Dak, I've been watching your videos along with pigness videos as well I see you guys do some great work, I do have a request, I don't believe this comment will be seen😅but worth a try, "is there anyway you two could make a standalone Fallout 4 mod for the Fallout 76 Scout Armor?" I'm sure the community would really appreciate it and have fun with the content if by any chance you do see this comment thank you and keep up the great work👍
Spadey and Pizza's Additional Stocks?
Well i mainly use the Mauser BH mod instead
how does your feral ghoul have different armor
Flip what I said around. I get my right and lift mixed up
I dont mean to be that guy but I think the hunting rifle is modeled on the Winchester Model 70
Can a small patch be made for the .308 ammo bug? I’m on Xbox and it affects the modern firearms sniper rifle it doesn’t shoot in the same spot as the reticle on any of the scopes…
Don’t use hit man’s animations over the battlefield 1 ported animations for it
+1
But you can load hitman's before BF1 for 3rd person anims from hit's mod
@@titanics.o.s2101 that’s a fire proposition
I would reccomend BF1 animations over hitmans
Hey all/Degenrate Dak, I'm new to the modding scene and I'm having trouble with load orders. I know there is templates, but for me it can be hard to determine what goes where. I know there isnt a perfect load order but theres a general idea of how things should go. Any help is appreciated.
How dare you go against Bethesda lore that all hunting rifles are left handed. How dare you make it make sense
Scope zoom and reload/chambering the next round with bolt actions. Q: Does stock FO4 exit the scope zoom on loading the next round, as can be seen here?
My FO4 install does not do this anymore and I cannot remember when this started to track down what's conflicting or causing this behaviour. Anyone got an idea on this?
Only vanilla non DLC weapon that is fine how it is (to me) is the gauss rifle
If only dpillari alowed his newer mods to be ported to xbox. 😢 I don’t understand.
I mean just make it not left handed is a major thing y itself
Do you not think the one that made the rifle for fallout 4 was actually right-handed instead of left-handed? I am right-handed when it comes to boat action rifles so when I realized fallout 4 had white-handed bolt actions I like it cuz left-handed both actions for right-handed person is hard to use. That's why you see right-handed people use semi-automatic rifles a lot, so don't fix it just because you might be left-handed
You should do a detailed video of the assault rifle overhaul
What happened to xcadaver?? All his mods got delisted and he’s seemingly gone from the internet
Please consider making a mod for Polish smg PM-63 Rak.
Anyone knows what environment mods he using?
Love the showcase, but your gameplay with the hunting rifle made me sad 😂
I would also say another mod which would help with this list is "Spadey and Pizza's additional stocks" mod. Which obviously adds what it says, adding new stocks which look IMO lore friendly and making the hunting rifle look even more unique. Going from the Obrez look to an Intervention or a Anti Material Rifle lookalike!
But these mods what I use in my mod load order and it really does make the hunting rifle feel and play much better. Keep up the good work Dak! ^^
I can't download the fallout 3 pistol sound effect mod towhen mod site crashes out when I try to download it & can't download it fast for some reason. can you make all fallout 3 sound effects mod for fallout 4 on xbox series s & goldeneye skin mods please my friend & can you make a fallout 3 gunplay mod that plays like 3 if you or other moders can do that
I already I am using "Hunting Rifle .30-06 Receiver Munitions Pack - Brightsteel601" But this mod have one issue Is renaming Hunting Rifle to ".30-06" If is Chamber in 30-06 Can someone fix this?
Hi, have you tried the Conversions - Munitions for all Vanilla Weapons
This mod has a patch for Daks Attachment pack and adds to all Vanilla weapons new receivers that change the ammo type and are on pair with the best modification for receivers.
For example, I always want to have fnv 20 gauge .
But I added 20 Only when Dak Add Riot Shotgun in 20 I then I also downloads Dak shotgun Repeater And Deadpool Caravan With proper patch
And this give me sandbox With 20 gauge
Early Game Caravan
Mid Game shotgun Repeater
End Game Riot Shotgun.
and in 12 gauge
issue of this mod is flooding Loot pools with dozen different new Ammo Who are barely utilize
Well, we need Something like "vanilla + mod "Is only added: 22. 9mm , .32 , One of "carbine" caliber , .223 , 30-06 , 20 gauge ,Small Energy Cell One of two grenade type. As a base
But thanks for suggestion.
H7nting rifle bf1 animation solo no dif
fix the radium rifle it makes no sense
The Hitman animations are so bad for this gun .All animation mods have big downsides .
this is pc mods
I want to see more single bullet or clip fed rather than magazine fed guns in Fallout. It's just weird to imagine someone carrying many 5 rounds magazines in their pouch. It also saves a lot more space and weight carrying bullets or clips in pouches or bandolier. Contrary to most video games, you don't need to empty your gun before loading a stripper clip, just shove the bullets in and keep the rest. So from gameplay perspective, it doesn't take much longer time to reload.
It still annoys me that WHO TF made the guns left sided honestly I hope that person got fired we have to mod and fix everything Bethesda did FNV they did amazing to amazing for the guns but FO4 FINE I'LL DO IT MYSELF
the weapon design decisions in this game are baffling and worse in every way compared to NV and even FO3
and we get modable plasma and laser splitters but not the ones to make the fallout 3 and fallout nv ones just a generic 5 projectile beam/ball instead of the tribeam, multiplas, metal blaster emitters for 3 and 9 beams/blasts
changing the ammo type shouldnt be a thing unless you have bullet drop etc. bullet drop would have made fallout 4 bullet weapons so much more interesting and made laser weapons extremely valuable mid to late game. switch it to a magnum reciever rather than .30-06. increase speed of the round, bullet drop isnt severe and extra damage at critical hits so shooting someone in the head does way more damage.
fallout 4 needs to get rid of bullet sponges for regular npcs, levels should effect armor pool and weapons but should make a single guy with knife the ability to take 40 shots of .308 to the head. thats what made the hunting rifle useless.
Download the Kar98 mod then take the hunting rife to a weapon workbench and mod it looks/sounds/preforms better
As a lefty I see no issue.
