What Cameras are you excited about this year? For me (according to rumours) it would be Sony A7SIII (Or A7IV), Canon EOS R5 and Sony RX6 (FS5 successor). Are you waiting for something on that front?
I'm shooting with my Fuji XT-3 for a year and I'm extremely satisfied. It should meet your requirements of 10-bit, beautiful image quality, colors, and pocketable size. New XT-4 is even better for vlogging, check it out
I don't know why, but I feel that CGI artist have a more chilling vibe than 2d animators. I don't know if it's because you have to deal with so much more hardware and software problems and have to control your stress, but feels good listening a CGI artist so calm. Ash Thorp also gives me this sensation.
In my (limited) perspective it seems like CGI artists have to know "the most," i.e. understand concepts from the video world, color, lighting, space; from the technical world so you can get the optimum workflow; the art world of understanding story and composition and technique. Seems like a massive intersection of art and technology. Which is super dope. Mad respect to you guys doing that work.
I've been in bands before, I've done 2D art (digital, mainly) for as long as I can remember and I've done video production for 20+ years. I started learning CG just under four years ago. 3D is SO much more satisfying than any other hobby I have ever had - and there isn't even a close second - and I feel more content and positive about my life, and life in general, since becoming good at it. I don't know if I am any more chilled out or not but 3D has definitely changed my brain for the better. If someone had told me four years ago what I would be able to do by now I never would have believed them.
Don’t want to sound like a fan boy but I love your work! I think you have a great sense of photography, the views light an the mixing is perfect! I got here because of the review of LGs ultra wide monitor and will definitely stay to keep watching/consuming your work.
As an aspiring CGI artist, I am very inspired to observe the process of work of an experienced person. It's like a good example for me. Thank you for those.
I like how you mix it up, a vlog here and there is great. However, you are good at a lot of things so everyone is really interested in what you have to say about anything!
Man I love this dude. You are the 1st subscribed person I have ever followed like this and it's worth it. You share a lot of valuable information, theirs a connection about, and everything you share is helpful. You are the genuine deal. You definitely know what your talking about. Keep bringing it. Appreciate you bro 💪
I'd love to see like a dedicated "Day in the life of a Motion Designer" type vlog. Some of the "day in the lifes" are cringy and romanticised but I know you'd do a brutally honest and detailed one.
Your pro workflow stuff i gold. Even in vlog format you drop little golden nuggets and practical insights that surpass any of the shit clickbait blog sites like Premiumbeat and Cinema 5D. I'm sure you can talk through pretty much ANYTHING you do (shooting a bench, recovering highlights in post etc) and there will be useful info. Thanks for keeping it up!
To answer your question, these kind of vlogs are pretty cool, it is a chill vibe. But I also really love all your Basic and High End Educational stuff, because those basic topics in CG and VFX, you really do explain it quite well! BEST EVER EXPLANATIONS. Clear and Cut and Understandable! :) God Bless
Hold on, don't cry, vlog with the BM6k, with no other camera you are going to get that color profile or file type. Besides you already know that nobody uses it for vlogs, so, you are going to be even more unique. I was waiting to see your videos again, it doesn't matter if they are vlogs or tutorials, everything helps me a lot. Thank you! Leandro.
Any content from you is amazing content. We would love to see more of you vlogging adding to the educative videos, but we understand you are a busy man so we'll settle for anything you can offer to us at your free time.
well, i feel that your vlogs are way better explained and educational than most of the materials i have seen recently. i would love to have you continue vlogging. i'm not just learning some critical techniques, but also learning ho to have a laid back attitude like yours :D
I think, your vlogs are very useful. Because from them we can see how the real production works. Responsibilities, plans, regular stuff. Also, that kind of "production related vlogs" helps us establish soft skills and what we should expect from work, being a part of real VFX team.
Here are some topics that I would be interested in hearing you talk about. Redshift. How is your progress coming along? Any advanced tips? Rotoscoping. What do you think is the best in terms of fast results? I hear Silhouette is the best in the industry. C4D R21 tracking. You mentioned that it has improved over R20 and it's all you use now. I would love to hear more about that and see your workflow.
Such a perfectionnist . Man you could shoot vlogs on a laptop built-in camera and i would still watch it. As long as there is quality in content the packaging is not as important (at least to me) ... You are an inspiration to us and i wish you the best !
Every time when i lost all motivation to pursue dreams as you could say, i just watch single video from you. Automatically i'm filled with ideas. That's what i would call being inspirational person for people. You're good at it. Keep up good work! And of course more vlogs!
I love your videos Andrey. Something I would love for you to cover and elaborate on further to this video is what you actually do to maintain your computers? You say that they get sluggish without maintenance, are there any things that we can do to keep our computers in tip top health?
In such times of social distancing when we lost so much contact with our friends, watching vlogs of the people we like it's a good choice to feel "connected" with the world. Keep on! Greetings from Brazil.
You're doing a great job Andrey. You can mix it up when you don't have the time like record some short blogs about simple things. Like things you're dealing with daily in the industry that's still very informative. You can still record a more extensive video or review when you can at a conducive pace. I think people find you to be intriguing and respect you, your work and your knowledge across the board as a creator, business owner and a teacher. You have to feel comfortable with what you're doing and putting out so find away to keep things flowing at a pace that balances your life. Always informative and you have professinal content Andrey your doing great.
It would be great if you did more vlogs I do miss those and more of those videos that you talked about doing since I have learnt a lot from you and you have really helped me would really look forward to seeing those!
Nothing has changed for me. I've been a remote freelancer for a few years. Infact after the pandemic I was able to get more job offers, because there's no commute. I hear more studios are finally catching on and scaling teams remotely. I also heard from some industry friends that some studios discovered remote so effiecient that they're closing up their offices and saving money on rent. Great content as always Andrey. Take care! :)
nice studio! and Been learnin/practicing lots, getting my ropes in with Fusion comping, also learning a little Blender and Unreal Engine too. All in addition to still working as a VFX Editor remotely.
Conserning your question for an "inbetween" camera, I shot a few projects on a GH5. I now, nothing new but it is in terms of Grading, I found it to be way more forgiving than the A7III i usually use. Perhaps that's an option? And flippable screen of course ;)
Yes, man, we need your vlogs! I am grateful. Keep this going, please! Regards.
Hey Andrey ! A basic knowledge that i would be intrested in : how do you organise your projects ? I think it would help a lot of us to get good practices to work with other creatives. From folders, ressources, to layouts to nodal. etc. Your vlogs are really interesting. In a way, it gives some context and perspective to your everyday work. Thanks again for you work !
As someone who just started learning 3D animation, using c4d, from the spring cg challenge, I would love to get some more fundamental knowledge about both the software and the technicalities of the 3D pipeline (texturing, modelling, rendering etc.)
nice talk :) from day to night, far from home, an entrepreneur alone in office is pushing his passion with great positive attitude against dark side evil chain of computers doing rendering during pandemic time. It seem happens everywhere on this planet. Only entrepreneur will understand. Great talk, inspired attitude :)
Just managed to get my hands on 2 RTX 2080 Ti's for CG in Cinema 4D & Octane its quite exciting. love the content btw Andrey i think you should do more tutorials about Blackmagic Fusion and how to properly composite in there.
Try the Fujifilm XT-4 maybe? Fujifilm is very underrated now in the video market. I love my X-H1 but the new X-T4 is the optimal video setup from fuji. It has a flip screen so you can do that and the 10-24mm lens and you're good for vlogging. Has IBIS as well. Just an idea
Why not the GH5? 4k 10 bit . Small, reversible screen, tiny lenses. Long battery life. Granted, low light is not so good, and I bet you prefer fullframe, but if you're just vlogging...
Love all your content but I definitely think vlogs are enjoyable and worthwhile. Even smaller 3-4 minute eps so the effort and commitment is more sustainable for you. Also hearing what you're saying in regards to the BM cameras as vlog/long form cameras. Have you considered GH5 or S1H? GH5 has 10-bit at 25p and done correctly can be quite close to BMPCC line, and S1H is extremely capable if you need more. With articulating display as standard also very useful. Lastly I'd love to know what maintenance you perform on your machines? Is it a full clean install? I'm starting to get those odd bugs cropping up and would love to know which things besides clean installs I could try
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the recent developments in real time rendering. Do you think this will mean the dimise of renderbased workflows for most motion graphics?
Vlogs - yes. As I'm primarily into photography and video, it would be cool to see more stuff with advanced color grading or after effects. Even Photoshop tutorials on specific advanced techniques. For example I just switched from primarily photography to now doing a lot of video work and I never understood why grading my 4k 100mbps Sony a7iii footage was so difficult and your quick comment about how shitty it is working with 8 bit kind of put 2+2 for me.
I don't know if this is basic or not but, I'd like you to show us tips and tricks on how to get the best out of our PC's, I mean I don't have a PC that powerful, is there a way to get cinematic results with a simple rig? my pc runs with an rtx 2060S, ryzen 3600x, 16gb ram... compared to your workstations seems like nothing lol
Hi Andrey Birdy here I personal would love to suggest at least you do a video once a week even if it means your work in progress or your normal typical day at work just that only!
Try the newly released "SONY ZV-1"... It's a great pic for vlogging. Unless you otherwise want multi-purposed camera. If it's specifically for vlogging, the "ZV-1" is pretty much perfect!

OMG they use 8 GPU's
It looks pretty awesome with all those RTX 2080ti's water-cooled, in a big chunk of GPU power!!

Get a atomos ninja V for the Sony it can record 10bit and is still pretty compact in my opinion
Sony doesn't output 10 bit over hdmi on those cameras. The recorder will be recording 8 bit in a 10 bit file. So wasted space
Check out the Sony ZV-1. Might be the camera that you are looking for
love the reality of what's really happening.
