These also work wonderfully on serger. I threw in a pair of matching pillowcases with the quilts I made for Christmas and received many "ohhs and ahhhs". I just extended the pattern; 52" on body; 10" on cuff; 2.5" on trim; to make a body pillow cover. Works the same, love your energy.
I made some of these a few years ago and they took me much longer than ten minutes because I didn't have your straight forward explanations! I want to make more for Christmas this year, and with your help, I will ace it! You rock Mr. D!
Cute pillowcase. I made several pillowcases for Christmas this year using this method. I also make my husband's Aloha shirts and they have no exposed seams. French Seams are easy and look so professional.
I am halfway through making 25 flannel pillowcases as gifts for Xmas. I'm doing it assembly line, where I do each step on all of them. They are sooo cute. There's nothing like laying your head on flannel in the winter.
I sew the first seam 1/8 turn the pillowcase inside out and sew 1/4 and all edges are inside the french seam. Love watching your video as you are so much fun.
I just bought a basic sewing machine and this looks like a perfect first sewing project! Thanks so much for sharing and the very easy, straight forward demonstration!
It’s so pretty and fancy! I usually watch you on TikTok but needed a pillowcase tutorial for my youngest who is just learning to sew. I’m so glad I found yours!
What a really cute and easy way to jack up the decor! I love it. Love you too! You make me laugh even on the days I don't feel like laughing. Don't change - ever! Blessings to you!
You have perfect timing! I am sewing gifts for everyone this holiday season and on my list next was finding instructions for making standard pillow covers! Thanks!
Helena has great taste! That striped fabric is beautiful! I really love the fabric combo you chose! I would love to see her bed with the beautiful curtains. Kids just love tents , forts & hideouts etc. you are such a great daddy to always be thinking of your girl! Funny , as I’ve watched your videos and have heard you mention Helena I’ve often thought she must have the most beautiful bedroom with you creating beautiful things all the time, and then I saw this video- I’m so happy for her to have curtains on the bunk bed- what a fantastic idea! AND matching pillows- wonderful!
I just ordered unicorn and cat fabric to make these for grand kids. Still need iron man fabric or the hulk or bat man lol for grandsons. Even though i know how to make these. I like your teaching style. Great refresher!
I knew you showed how to do a French seam. I had to look it up for one of my cute little bags. I don't like raw edges showing, even if it's on the inside of the bag. Adding to my saved you tube videos!
I have missed you sooo much. I have some safari material I wasn't sure what to do with and I think this is just the ticket. Helena is a lucky girl indeed to have you for her daddy.
G’day Matthew, I absolutely love your videos!! So much fun and so feel good! You just brighten up my day! I’ve already made your folded stars 🌟 I love love love them, making more tonight. Then I am so going to make these. I can feel an obsession coming on with these pillow cases lol ooh can’t wait😊💗
I have to tell you that I saw this video and you mentioned an ergonomic rottary cutter. Well I found one and WOW it is so much easier to use. Thank you. And then I have to tell you that I take exception to you saying this is a ten minute pillowcase. I figure 45 minutes until I square the corners and press everything. If one has everything cut perfectly, then maybe ten minutes, but noone cuts my fabric to order, and I for one, do not have a machine like Alphonso. Other then that, I have a crush on you both. Keep making me smile.
I just watched a foo foo lady from a fabric company make this same style pillow case. It took her forever but i hadnt seen this before. Your video was better!
I am retired and do not sell ponchos. I came up with a poncho made from king sized pillowcases (can be cut down to 35 inches in length from bottom for small people). Poncho Power Pillowcases on UA-cam. I don't think my directions are great. Sew 3/4 of the opening of #1 to the side of the #2 pillowcase from corner to the center of the side. Repeat so both openings are sewn to the other pillow sides from corner to center. Done. It took 4 minutes. You have a lined poncho with pockets as large as king sized pillowcases (35 inches long pillowcases if you are smaller). The Pocket Project advocates for larger pockets for women. Pockets for women's fashion are 4 inches deep generally. Keys, wallet, and phones do not fit 4 inch pockets. Men have 8 inch pockets that will allow keys, wallets and phones to fit. These ponchos can help people who have dialysis or are patients. I use them every single day. Not everyone can wear a bra, and a poncho gives dignity and modesty for people who have had breast cancer. It covers the core and lends privacy in public bathrooms.
It's interesting that American pillow cases don't appear to have the inside fold that stops the pillow from falling out and makes them look neat and tidy.
Hello - watching you from Australia. What sewing machine do you use ? also do you use an overlocker / serger ? I will attempt making pillow cases in the future. Great video.
Hi Mister Domestic, You're so fun and so funny ;), I just found your UA-cam channel, previously followed your tutorials on Craftsy. Who makes 1 pillowcase? 'I did though'...for my kid :D for Christmas! Faye from London UK
What do you think about using bias tape for the trim? I’ve gotten mixed answers🤷♀️. I can’t see why not, but some say because it’s double folded, it won’t work. Has anyone used/tried this? I’ve made one, and am definitely leaning towards the “whatever”😂......it took me me four hours😒, maybe because I was being too fussy. Maybe not, because my trim turned out thicker on one side. I CAN sew, and I’ve even made simple things like little girls A dresses, and shorts. The 1/4 inch seam😩. That’s what I was thinking. A “little bit more than 1/4 inch”, I feel I do really need the fabric under both sides of the presser foot, or it just floats around). I LOVE French seams, so I don’t have to serge it (which would be a disaster I’m sure) so that’s what I used.
Someone pleas help me! I cut out the main fabric for this pillow case, The dinosaurs are going the wrong way!! I know just cut them the opposite, BUT I only have enough fabric to cut two separate pieces. Which way should the pattern go when you lay it down to start sewing.??? This should be simple but I can't figure it out> Thanks,
@Kathie Davis , Another you tuber has a tutorial episode 125 by “Jean Truelove” easy directional patterned novelty pillowcase tut (the thumbnail has blue anchors

How fun is that! Thanks
Just found you & how fun!! 😊
Do you rinse out your fabric before you get started?
Loving your channel!!!!
It's interesting that American pillow cases don't appear to have the inside fold that stops the pillow from falling out and makes them look neat and tidy.
That’s because the enclosed pillowcase is an English item
Great video.
.?

Hey Mr Domestic. Good vid but you didn’t show what the french seam looks like when it’s finished... Brenda from London UK 👍🏻🤪
Great, fun video....
Nice!
Do you was the fabric before sewing.
Thanks!
Welcome!
I wonder where one gets those clips from ?
I think I meant to say "clippers" ! - the tools ??
