Hey guys I tried doing the teen size with an 8mm hook and bulky instead of super bulky yarn bc it’s what I had and it turned out much smaller so don’t make my mistake and just follow the pattern exactly if u what that size lol ✌️
Hi! I do have another pattern for this beanie that uses bulky weight yarn if you want to check that out! ua-cam.com/video/qtlyBprb4C8/v-deo.html&feature=share&si=ELPmzJkDCLju2KnD5oyZMQ
I’ve made soooo many of these hats for family and friends using your tutorial! Thank you! I noticed that some yarns have more ‘stretch’ than others. In case someone is wondering about that, I used regular sewing thread with all yarn tails and keep that last stitch intact, and just basted the side seam to try it on. If it’s too loose I remove one row and try again. I used a balled up blanket or towel as a head for the sizes smaller or larger than mine. It is NOT the fault of the pattern. Some yarn skeins even in the same color way are just looser(?) and make the hat stretchy. I hope that makes sense. I only had to unravel a row or two of three hats out of 15. They come together so quickly and really look fantastic. Everyone loves them! I wear mine to bed because I like sleeping with the window slightly open. New subbie btw. 👍🏻💕🧶
i just made this beanie and let me say, this is not only so quick, but the instructions are SO easy to follow!!!! everyone run don’t walk to get the stuff for this beanie!!! it’s so cute!!! thank you for the awesome tutorial!!!❤❤❤
I followed your instructions it for an adult medium, and I’m one row short. I’m gonna still try to finish it because it’s so cute. Thank you for posting this video.
I followed the number of stitches and rows for adult medium and ended up with the hat not being NEARLY big enough... Well I guess I can gift it to somebody, but I did the same thing a few time with accidentally not having enough stitches
Thank you so much! I’ve tried so many different tutorials for hats & Ive never managed to make one properly! Your tutorial was super easy to follow! I’ve made one for my daughter & one for my friends baby, now making one for myself! Going to add a Pom Pom on to mine & my daughters!
Hi! Thank you for these tutorials! I recently got into crocheting and I’m already halfway through my first beanie! (I make a lot of mistakes so it’s taking me a while haha) I was wondering if you could show us how to add a pompom to a beanie next time? Thanks!!!!
Did you check your gauge? The gauge pattern is on the size chart. 8STs x 5 Rows = 4”x 4”. Make sure you’re able to reach gauge, double check to make sure you counted the rows correctly, and if need be you can go up a few hook sizes! Hope that helps!
Guess who started crocheting this 15 minutes before trey have to leave for work? Now I'm gonna be having the urge of wanting to go home and continue crocheting!
Do you have a pattern super bulky yarn for fingerless gloves. Thank You. I have i guess a larger head but its coming out great i measure my head and i cane out great. Thanks
I think it is great but not a beginner due to the pace you go with the process, I have seen other videos and they are much explanatory and slow pace for beginners, Imo this is an intermediate video.
Hi there dear, I love to learn how I can make a Olaf with crochet, hope you can help me, my girl is making me crazy, thank you in advance. God be with you!
I apologize i didn't see chart for sizes and rows and you are the only one that has been so helpful. Your just wonderful great for a beginner or anyone that has crochet for yrs. Thank You So much

I love this!! Can you do a video for matching scarf using the same stitches please? I will make these as matching sets for Christmas gifts this year!! Thanks😊
Hi! I actually do have an Easy Breezy Scarf pattern! You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/yceta-Atabc/v-deo.html This pattern uses a medium 4 weight yarn, but you can swap for a super bulky yarn and just work less stitches and rows.
I've been making scarves with super bulky yarn and am ready to try making a beanie, I think. Is this project easy enough for a beginner who has only made flat things (scarves and blankets) before?
Hi, I just wanted to thank you so much because this was my very first time trying to crochet something and now I have beautiful beanie at home because of you 😊.
Thank you! I found a way to modify this lovely pattern to make it my size with Red Heart Super Saver yarn. I'm going to attach matching crochet bunny ears to it soon, prepared for winter. ^^
I keep counting the stitches for each row and they keep getting smaller (25, then 24 then 23 etc) as i go on. Ive made sure to catch the last ones on the ends but it keeps getting smaller. Is there anything special you are supposed to do when you turn your work and chain one? Im so confused :(
There isn't anything special you're supposed to do, just make sure you're not missing the 1st and last stitch. It may help to use a stitch marker on the first and last stitch so you don't miss it. Hope that helps!
HI! I actually have different versions of this pattern that use different yarn weights! Here's the video if you're using medium (4) weight yarn - ua-cam.com/video/Ya7XFjJg9Jg/v-deo.htmlsi=rKlXlzXussNSSESq Here's the video is you're using bulk (5) weight yarn - ua-cam.com/video/qtlyBprb4C8/v-deo.htmlsi=VRLiQg4b0X1EP9Ga Hope that helps!
Make sure you're counting your stitches across and always have the same number or stitches for each row. It can be easy to skip the first or last stitch I find. If your stitch count is right for each row, you may just be tightening your tension as you go so your rows seem shorter. If that is the case, it should all even out once you closed up the beanie at the end.
Thanks Allie, for sharing your easy breezy chunky beanie pattern I made 1 in pink, black with a black pompom, didn't have 6 weight yarn I used a 5 weight yarn with 9mm crochet hook, it turned out really good for because I have a small head , it's for myself all attach a photo thanks again for tutorial pattern!
I've just started crocheting 2 weeks ago, every tutorial i watch it turns out similar but i keep thinking i can to do better. When i finished my hat i was surprised this tutorial is phenomenal! Everything was spot on like the picture! Thanks so much, keep up the great work!!
Just made one with the Ribbed Beanie pattern for weight 4 yarn and it fits over my ponytail (I have a lot of thick hair). What I'm wondering, though, is if you prefer working with a foundation row instead of a foundation chain would it work out better to add or remove a row if needed to end up on the right end of your work when sewing shut?
woah I did it. My first hat and second crochet project. When I scrunched the top it did get a little funky, but it looks good I think. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you for this wonderful beanie. I loved how easy and it looks so wonderful!!! I made it for my little granddaughter. I am definitely making more. I will be a follower on your channel.
I uh made this with Red Heart Super Saver yarn (gauge 6, of course) and uh I used the Teen/Adult small pattern provided er, but apparently this only works with 'thick' gauge 6 yarn (??) like the stuff you used here because mine turned out to be only big enough for a 0-3 month baby ._.
Hi! Yes this pattern is only for super bulky (6) weight yarn!! I do have another video for this pattern that uses medium (4) weight yarn (red heart super saver would work great) though!!! Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/Ya7XFjJg9Jg/v-deo.html
0:43 so chain is our starting chain right and then the #of stitches per row is because we start from the 2nd from the hook? And then the #of rows is how tall? I’m doing this w/yarn weight 6 and a 9mm hook for the child 3-10 years and feel like it looks really small 😭
The number of stitches will determine the hat height and the number of rows will be the circumference. You can adjust either the length or width to any number of stitches or rows to get just the size you'd like!
Easiest beanie ever! Worked up super quick and the instructions were clear and very easy to follow, especially for beginners. Already made 2 since I discovered this video late last night. Love it! Thank you for the great tutorial!
Sounds like you may not be working in the back loops only of your stitches. Instead of working in 2 loops (both loops on the top of a stitch), you want to only work into the back loop only, this will create the ribbing effect. Hope that helps!

Hi! That was a typo on my blog, please follow the chart given in this video. I have updated the blog to show the correct row numbers. Thank you for pointing that out!

My first time
How tight do you pull that you can get 8 hdcs in 4" with an N size hook? I had to use an L to achieve your gauge with the same yarn brand.
I may just have a tighter tension than you do. You can use whatever crochet hook reaches the same gauge.
I'm making for size 1-3 and it's a bit small on my 2 year olds, would you recommend doing 26 rows, I did 24 rows already.
I think working 26 rows is a good idea if 24 is too snug.
This was a bit confusing for me as a beginner.

Is there a reason the size chart here and the one attached to the pattern on your blog have different rows listed for the child patterns?
Hi! That was a typo on my blog, please follow the chart given in this video. I have updated the blog to show the correct row numbers. Thank you for pointing that out!
I can’t get it to sit straight. The rows keep bowing in. What am I doing wrong?
It could be possible that your stitches are looser at the beginning and end of the rows but tighter in the middle. Once you're done the beanie and it's all sewed & cinched up, you probably won't be able to notice it.
Well I have a 10m.m crochet hook so is it okey I really need to make it 😕😕

If you lose track of how many rows you've done, what's the best way to count them?
Between the ribbing there are 2 rows, so I like to count by 2's. Hope that makes sense!
Can I ask what your hat measurements were before you joined at seam?
Mine was about 19". I like to make my hats about 2-3" smaller than my head circumference since it will stretch.
Great tutorial...... very clear to understand. Thank you so much x
