Rare Footage of Former China Leader Jiang Zemin Freak Out (With English Subs!)

- In this rare footage, former Chinese Leader Jiang Zemin is asked a reporter asks a question he doesn't like. What follows in a long, insane tirade as Jiang Zemin freaks out at the poor reporter. Just imagine what would have happened if US President Barack Obama freaked out like this.

Jiang had a “Did these mothafuckas seriously ask me that dumbass question” moment.
Skylab Lmao
Skylab the reporter was setting up a trap, asking Jiang whether he “supports” that Hong Kong official or not. If Jiang said yes, the headline next day would be Mainland government appoints Hong Kong SAR’s top official, breaking the agreement of Hong Kong’s freedom of election. If Jiang says no, the headline would be chairman of China is openly against official elected thru democratic process in Hong Kong. Consequently no matter how Jiang answers the question, he would be painted in a bad way by that reporter.
Jiang sees thru that, which is why Jiang calls the reporter too simple, too naive, compared the reporter to Wallace, who also tried to set up trick questions like this during his interview with Jiang but had done so more sophisticatedly (Jiang did not fall into Wallace’s traps either).
Jiang then proceeds to very clearly explain that his support doesn’t mean appointment from the government itself, and whether he supports or not doesn’t matter because the official was elected by Hong Kong people, answering the trick question without leaving any loose end for defamation.
If this kind of questions were asked to Xi, he wouldn’t bother to answer at all. So could Jiang, but Jiang in this video couldn’t resist to teach the reporter a lesson.

You know what? This is refreshing. I don't care what this man is saying or who he is. The fact that a politician is speaking from heart and not being a robot about it is totally refreshing! Heck, I'm pretty sure the usual robotic tone all politicians use is another way of making politics boring and deterring people away from getting into how countries are truly run.
Still, this happened, and I'm happy. Peace from Saudi Arabia. :)
He lost control because he thought that Hongkong reporters didn't get to ask HIM tough questions, so he decided to teach them a lesson. And that is because he thought Hongkong was already part of China and the reporters there should behave themselves, more or less like those from the mainland. That's the real reason he showed his true side (I suspect there was no western media present on that day). If a reporter from the Chinese Central Television dared to ask him a similar question, Jiang would immediately fire the chief of that TV station and call this a serious political incident.
i think u r wrong. Jiang met many reports, especially Wallace, an American interviewer. u can find some videos about him and Wallace who mentioned autocracy, Fa Lungong, and etc. In this video in Hong Kong, it does not mean he didn't dare to answer the question put forward by the young reporter, but mean those young reporters of Mandarin and Hong Kong are supposed to improve their questions' quantity because the question in the video is so easy to Jiang, and Jiang must thought you are too naive to ask much experienced politician, or someone having higer status abroad. It's my opinion to Jiang , and, only Jiang, not to today's CCP . ( yet maybe i don't know him enough)
From at least what it sounds like here even if that is partially his point I don't think that this is his full argument. I think he found the way they would ask the questions to be lazy, leading / pointed. @@wujijianchuqiao

@@marcusatiusvirilis7723 They are both non ideological pragmatists focused on their own national interest, as opposed to the more ideologically driven who have succeeded Jiang and preceded Trump. Jiang's was the hand picked successor to Deng Xiaoping who famously said "don't care if it's a black cat or a white cat, as long as it catches mice, it's at good cat". Jiang presided of China's fastest period of growth, and though the US is a mature market, we're also seeing the results of a leader focused on economic growth and ultimately jobs. Surely would they would disagree about what they would like to see happen, as China and US interests are largely a zero sum game, but as for a debate, I'm pretty sure they would mostly agree about what should be done and why, with the exception of Trump and the US being very open to public disagreement and protest. These two would be more suitable for a "panel discussion" than a debate. For full disclosure, there's reason to believe that Zhu Rongji was actually the one working behind the scenes to make Jiang look successful.

It was as he stated a dumb and naive question in my opinion. I can't do anything but agree with this man.
I don't think he is being asked about his "manager", he is the "boss of the company" here. The reporter is asking whether he "supports" him to continue being one of his "store manager" for next year.
ya he is the manager, but it was still a bad question bc there would have been a set line to respond and he said it, "hes currently running honk kong so i support him, in the next election the election laws will judge"
nah it is as if the reporter is trying to lead jiang to say yes to china has internally arranged and appoint who the next hk manager is, which if he followed down the path would mean china meant to break the 1 country 2 system at that time. of cz being intelligent as jiang is, he saw through the trick and fuk the reporter over
Roman I don’t think you guys got the point, which is understandable since you are likely not familiar with the relationship between China and Hong Kong SAR. Hong Kong is a special region in China that has a different political system granted for 50 years. During which Hong Kong would have a democratic system. At the time of this video, the new top official of Hong Kong, who was sitting next to Jiang, was just elected.
What happened was that the reporter was setting up a trap/trick question, asking Jiang whether he “supports” that Hong Kong official or not. If Jiang had said yes, the headline next day would be “Mainland government appoints Hong Kong SAR’s top official”, breaking the agreement of Hong Kong’s freedom of election. If Jiang had said no, the headline would be “chairman of China is openly against official elected thru democratic process in Hong Kong.” Consequently no matter how Jiang answers the question, he would be painted in a bad way by that reporter, which is what the reporter was clearly trying to do here.
Jiang sees thru that, which is why Jiang called the reporter “too simple, too naive”, and compared her to Wallace, a famous American reporter at the time, and the first person to have interviewed the chairman of China. During that interview, he also tried to set up trick questions like this but had done so more sophisticatedly (Jiang did not fall into Wallace’s traps either).
Jiang then proceeded to very clearly explain that his support doesn’t mean appointment from the government itself, and whether he supports or not doesn’t matter because the official was elected by Hong Kong people, answering the trick question without leaving any loose end for defamation.
If this kind of questions were asked to Xi, he wouldn’t bother to answer at all. Likewise Jiang didn’t have to either, but Jiang in this video couldn’t resist to teach the reporter a lesson.
Actually this guy is very genuine in his answer. It does not only say, albeit indirectly, that the arrangement has already been made, it also says "stop asking questions or I am gonna make you disappear".

same lol
This showed up on my feed many times already, eventually i gave in and watch it
Something fishy about UA-cam recommendations
Because CCP and Google are having some troubles right now.
ozzy they they are best friends?
I think he just called them Fake News in his own way.
I never thought id see a rant from a Chinese leader and say "damn this guy's on point!"
Honestly speaking I kinda prefer him to Winnie the Pooh
Honestly, I prefer your mother.
lol one of winnie the poohs honey jar is mad XD
I guess ur not watching China Unsensored Videos then!!
@@VaRag98 he does look like winnie the pooh but not cute at all XD

He made a good point. Media is nothing but trying to provoke a reaction through accusation and make a big headlines based on conjectures. I would not agree with him when he said "naive". Twisted would be a better word.
He might have said naive because they jump to such conclusions without truly understanding the gravity of the situation at hand. This media has always existed. Their job is to generate money for their company, so at a certain point they dumb it down to broaden things
Naive meaning that he understood they wanna set him up, but their approach of getting answers they want was so obvious and childish, the way they ask questions could only lead to dead ends. He also mentioned Mike Wallace was a role model in getting what he wanted for all journists, you can watch Jiang's interview with him on UA-cam as well.
@@HumanShoot
Media is about power alway has been always will be only ever cared about money as a tool for power...
As the good man said.... naive
Very true... Medias nowadays were utter rubbish... For entertainment it is fine...
Their job is to keep leaders in check. If they are asking questions and the politicians are getting annoyed, that's how you know they are doing their job right. You people are idiots
Jiang is one of the most charismatic leaders in modern history. He doesn’t mind sharing his emotions and occasionally making a fool of himself. It’s really rare among Chinese politicians.
It's really chilling discovering this now after his passing.
He gave a very honest answer to an attempted trick question. To freak out is something completely different.
China Uncensored uses just about anything to make china or (ccp) look bad. It's 50/50 sometimes its a reach

Rest in Peace Legend 🇨🇳 🇦🇱
As much as I hated Jiang his English is excellent compared to other leaders
Vulpes Inculta this guy seems so much more educated and wise compared to the Pooh bear.
Ave ! True to Caesar !
Who cares about his English? Ranting like a loon.
He can also speak a dozen languages.
U should watch his video with Mike Wallace, he even recited the speech of Lincoln
I feel better on this man than the current one.
Lol same
yeah cuz he looked like a real person who has feelings, smart and interesting
Jeff The Wonderkid you know nothing
Same thing but you're a kid so you don't realize it yet! The reporter could have been paid to ask that question on purpose!
Yeah bc China doesn't surrender to the west under the current leadership. As a Westerner (or banana) of course you don't like someone who makes China strong and with dignity.
this video was recommended to me 2 days before his death
Maybe because you're too simple, sometimes naive 😅
Wow a politician who actually seemed like a human being, acted "naturally" so to speak.
It felt REAL, and not a mask.
That’s the most influential meme on the internet of modern China. The government has never been able to stop it from spreading, everybody can understand that nowadays.
I'm guessing you're Chinese? Can you explain the context of this meme? I don't quite understand it. I guess it shows how speech was more free back when he was president of China? But that is just a guess
@@ahmedwan6528 Thank you for explaining! I hope China becomes more hospitable to free speech. It is really sad to see a wonderful nation of smart and strong people subjected to this oppression :(

does uyghur in detention camp is extremist? chinese official said they are not but those in detention don't get any trial either.
@@user-pc1hk1cn4y It is to counter extremism that has plagued China since the war on terrorism however, Western media tends to dilute to context and coverage of the terrorist issues in the PRC and overly sensationalise western incidents. It labels China's re-education centres as islamaphobic attempts simmilar to concerntrayion camps yet China retains unwaivering support in the UN from 17 majority Muslim nations includong Saudi arabia. Not to mention how the western double standards initiated by the US and the UK for example, US Internment camps of japanese minorities, Latinos in ICE facilities along the mexican border treated inhumanely and racked into cages. Let alone the absurd proposition and prospect of ''freeing'' HKSAR and Xinjiang autonomous reigon is the equivalent of declaring independance for Puerto rico and Hawaii who face repression by the US central government. @@jhtang5441 Hawaii is not oppressed it is a full fledged state has equal rights and has been with America for over a hundred years. Hawaii doesnt allow non Hawaiians from moving into the island in order to preserve their culture so I highly doubt we oppress them. Also with Puerto Rico we support them during hurricanes and we dont even rule them. They have their own leadership and rule themselves almost they are merely an American territory and have access to citizenship. I will say the Philippines which we occupied during Teddy Roosevelt was wrong and we did merely use them for natural resources however, America has been doing better and has helped far more than it hurts
In all Honesty Jiang Zemin did seem sincere to the reporters when he said “I’m worried for you all” I think he was trying to give them advice on how life works in China
So True
True, that they will get exterminated if they dont stfu or be their slaves.

Don't you know that Covid is probably made by US? Have you heard the documentary "plandemic"?
Rest in peace jiang zemin.
Every word he said is so true, so accurate, some people just couldn’t understand.
If you actually think about what he said... his rant 100% applies to American journalism today. lol. Tons of sensational legwork, but little to no substance.
That's exactly his point! I'm not chinese, but from his reaction I can tell he's super pissed they are picking up the bad habits of western journalism, and he's utterly disappointed that she's too stupid to even do it well since it was evident it was best to ignore her.
HAHAHA FVCK U.S.A YOUR LEADER ARE SHIT AND STUPID. AND YOU ALL SAY EVERY LEADER IN THE WORLD IS BAD. JUST LIKE MOST OF U.S MEDIA SAY CHINESE GOVERNMENT FOR PREVENTING CORONA VIRUS IS BAD. BUT WHEN CORONA VIRUS ENTER THE U.S YOUR GOVERNMENT AND LEADER ARE THE WORST. STUPID CITIZENS AND GOVERNMENT

@@mastermarco1723 Agreed. At this point, they're not doing genuine journalism. They're doing business. It all depends on what their target market wants at this point.
Though, to look in their perspective, they need a way to get food on the table.
Not only American journalism. Here in India the situation is so divided that one section of the TV media sucks up to the government while the other section is busy dissing the government at every step. There is a genuine lack of neutral and factual journalism.
He acts less demeaning than most other officials, at least he doesn't ignore the journalists.
+Haaklong Nguyệt That doesn't stop officials trying to cover the camera lens as well as stopping the questioning though, because you know, he's Angry!
The main reason people don't talk to journalists is because there isn't much you can do about hard headed people.
Colby Thornton 😃😃
That'0s what I thought. Adressing the journalists "disrespectfully" is better than ignoring them and asking security if they say too much, which most US president or elsewhere would do.
No, the US president would most likely just shit on you and move on the next person. Like it was in the 2016 elections.
Rest in peace.
And…that’s the last time the Chinese government let journalists write their own questions
"I'm ang-"

He's actually a really competent speaker; calling this a "freakout" is the kind of inflammatory narrow mindedness he is speaking against.
He didn't handle this well at all and committed a lot of logical fallacies. He couldn't handle to answer the questions and threw a hissy fit instead
Yeah too bad China still got internment camps
No, everything he said amounts to 'shut up and stop asking questions'
honestly, he had a point. plus he did give his answers but the media just wont stop yapping

Can you recommend a video that will educate a westerner on Chinese pop culture, and mindset? I kind of drew on what he said about naivety... from all of the Chinese media outlets I follow, I get the impression that, culturally, china is super ...straight-laced, for lack of a better phrase.
应该把剩下几个也翻译成英文给外国仔种学习一个
@@davidjolley2468 When the whole world is against you, you naturally become straight-laced.
Imagine when you decide to post a video on China on UA-cam, the first thing comes to your mind is to refute all those rumors on China and CCP, which are mostly nonsense yet still widely believed by a majority of the users.
Currently Tiktok and Bilibili are 2 of the most vital video hosting communities in China. But even you know much formal Chinese, don't expect fully understand what's going on on them.
I believe both are accessible outside of mainland China, so check them out if you're interested.
@@tapist3482 Oh I have, I follow China closely from the western perspective, and I do it through the lens of knowing the western perspective is biased. China has done a lot of great things since the Xiaoping economic reforms, and continues to do so, but to people like me, that isn't the issue. The collectivism; the utter lack of regard for the individual is what bothers most of us. For instance: on the surface, I like the social credit philosophy. We all want to see the assholes punished for being assholes, but a line has got to be drawn. Compulsory reeducation, and compulsory organ harvesting really rankles westerner's sensibilities. If you tote the line, and obey the laws, your life can be great in China, but what if you're in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or know something you shouldn't, and you become a liability, or inconvenience, to the party? That happens to perfectly good people over there, and the lack of adherence to basic human justice for the sake of collective harmony is what I find troubling.
Speaking to China against everyone: I believe the West shares some responsibility in the political isolation that has griped mainland China, but the CCP shares as much, or more responsibility for the Chinese people feeling threatened by the west with nationalistic rhetoric.
Just opinions
Xinnie Pooh:(Only knows Mandarin. Expects that everyone must understand him or else he gets anger)
