Epoch Times is a far-right rag?! ... That's a bit rich. ;-)
Hello everyone, you may not believe it, but the self-immolation incident mentioned on the video was staged by the Chinese Communist Party. As soon as the self-immolation incident took place, the Chinese Communist Party government repeatedly broadcast the video of the self-immolation on China's main media channels. They show it over and over again on TV with regular frequency for several months, even years. Why does the Chinese Communist Party do that? Isn't that slandering Falun Gong?
Not only that, the Chinese Communist Party has spent nearly 1/3 of the total amount of money from the national budget just to persecute Falun Gong. While Falun Gong practitioners are people who live according to the standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, do not sabotage national security, and obey the law, they are taught to be good people and better. Because they are People who value human life more than anything, so self-immolation is not possible, so this is an arrangement by the Chinese Communist Party.
Since 1999, the Chinese Communist Party government has devoted all its resources to persecuting Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners are innocent people, they were kidnapped without reason into forced labor camps, they were brutally beaten, starved, and the Chinese Communist Party government even robbed them of their internal organs. organs of Falun Gong practitioners while they were still alive to gain illegal profits. The organ transplant industry in China is quite developed, because they have a large number of organs obtained from organ harvesting, when you come to China for the purpose of organ transplant, they can respond. Meet that need within a period of just a few days or even a few hours.
The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners continues from 1999 to today. This brutal persecution must end. If you listen to the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party Government. You are an accomplice of that devil.
People can go online and print "The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners" and you can find a lot of specific and accurate evidence.
Hope you can choose to follow what is honest and good to avoid becoming evil
One minimal criticism, China may not be very religious, but that doesn't mean the ppl there aren't superstitious. They are super, super superstitious.
When you believe in things that you don't understand, then you suffer
Depends how remote you live from large cities and how old you are. The most common "superstition" still practiced by modern Chinese people is praying to your deceased family members for your family's prosperity and safety.
Our whole society is superstitious. Like my mom.
The official statistics paint China as mostly Atheist, but it seems in practice there are many more Christians, possibly more Muslims, and way, way more ancestor worshippers than the statistics suggest, especially in rural areas.

Holy shit this video brought back so many memories for me. I grew up in China and I vaguely remember this incident in the news. And I was horrified to see graphic bodies on the paper itself. I was only 7-8 at the time but I still remember how shocked I was.
grewing up outside China I saw Falun Gong's video about this first. They claimed that it was staged by the government because of some "suspicious" points in the reports. But then I read the original Chinese reports and found that those details or footages were misinterpreted by Falun Gong.
Now, I feel that their lies still hold for their practitioners. However, once Li Hongzhi passes away, Falun Gong will definitely collapse, because he's considered the Creator. At that time, many people would probably betray Li Hongzhi
It was a staged for TV, it’s a hoax to justify and escalate the persecution of Falun Gong, there are alot of things that can’t be explained, such as why police were carrying 8kg fire extinguisher, which they never do, unless they are planning to put out a fire. The CCP are the ultimate deceivers, it was made for the shock factor, but those who know the CCP history know that it was a fake.

Watching the Epoch Times go from a purely nutjob cartoon publication to something anyone looked at as credible has been nausea inducing
I've seen the articles when delivering it to people's homes and thought "what is this ridiculous garbage". It all makes sense now.
I don't think it is any coincidence that the Epoch Time, Shen Yun, and NTD seemed to ramp up their output after they started collaborating with Steve Bannon.
The biggest problem is getting reliable information out of China. When the Epoch Times is calling a covid outbreak in Northeast China over a month before the CPC admits it, it is a very troubling situation

@@sergeantjoe6802 I could hardly call any propaganda truthful. For example, they repeatedly say that the reason for China's invention of the Simplified characters was to make the old texts unreadable, which is just utter nonsense. They talk shit about anything Chinese. They called Hero (the 2002 movie) a propaganda of authoritarianism and imperialism, which is just the dumbest take. It truly is remarkable how influential Falun Gong's media operation has become, especially on English language reporting on China. It is almost impossible to find Western China coverage that hasn't been tainted by their dubious propaganda. Would love to see a deep dive into their media empire that highlights a few of their most successful disinformation campaigns/ enduring misconceptions linking back to their "reporting." BTW, really appreciate your covering this topic. Too few ppl are aware of Falun Gong's existence, much less their media presence. With tensions between China & the West on the rise, accurate reporting is more important than ever. It's a bit scary knowing this and seeing a lot of their propaganda repeated word for word from sitting US senators and the like. And while it mostly comes from the Right, it's not unusual to hear stories they've "reported" on the more moderate side of the isle. I'm afraid it has already become a serious problem. We've just yet to realize it. It's the next "Russian disinformation operation." Except this time the magnitude of the problem is, if anything, underestimated.

Adding to the conclusion that you made, one could make an argument that the CCP being efficient at either crushing or co-opting potential sources of dissent against the regime has created a situation where most opposition to the regime, outside of intellectuals grumbling in their residences in exile, is done by people who are in some way insane or out there ideologically with Falun Gong being part of this broader trend.

Still, I primarily blame people who are foolish enough to believe the claptrap.
I respectfully disagree. People who want to extract something (like devotion or money) manipulate people in a way that they know can avoid triggering certain alarm bells in some people's heads. It's a facet of human nature that they take advantage of
The same applies to scammers. They know how to hijack certain people's brains and use that to steal their money. Victim-blaming just avoids realizing that the core issue is the manipulation, and that just keeps people thinking that they'd never fall for anything like that. Sad to say, that mentality makes people even more vulnerable to buying BS like Falun Gong or a sob story from a "Nigerian Prince"

Police patrol cars in Tiananmen are equipped with fire extinguishers. When the self-immolation happened, a police patrol car drove through Tiananmen square (I found a video of it).
Some Falun Gong media claimed that there were fire extinguishers stored nearby, but there is no evidence to prove it, and I don't believe it because Falun Gong media made a lot of rumors in all directions after the incident.
Because it was a staged immolation for consumption by the masses to justify the persecution of Falun Gong, they were not Falun Gong practitioners, the teachings of Falun Gong prohibit killing and suicide
@@nicholasmclaughlin8638 The self-immolators did not intend to kill themselves. The teachings of Falun Gong are intended to be interpreted according to one's level of "enlightment". @@nicholasmclaughlin8638 The Falun Gong website Minghui never showed a segment of CCTV where she sang.
But she did talk to reporters. It is possible to talk with a Passy-Muir valve after tracheotomy. It's used for patients that had tracheotomy.
Concerning the question of the sterility of the environment, how communications between burn patients and others are handled depends on the hospital's guidelines. There are other cases where people directly come into the patient room without that protection, such as the september 11th attack's burn victims.
We can not assume that they are not Falun Gong practitioners unless they did not behave according to the teachings of Falun Dafa. The people involved in the incident did not intend to commit suicide, so whether suicide is forbidden or not does not give a conclusion to this question. And your interpretation of the segment of the lecture in Changchun is yours only. Only Minghui can decide the official interpretation of these teachings. Back then, Minghui didn't talk about these types of stuff yet, so it is possible that some people believed that burning was a good thing.
