- FIRST DRIVE: The all new C8 E-Ray is here and Chevrolet is bringing performance hybrid to the Corvette. Power the E-Ray is (1) electric motor paired with the LT2 6.2L V8 to churn out 655HP. Now that is an amazing car. I'm loving that Stealth Mode. People would lose their minds seeing a Corvette driving by and being completely silent.
Nahh I’m pretty sure vette fans would not like that. I mean I just don’t understand this direction and especially for this vehicle and its heritage it’s just nonsensical. They’re using the vettes names to target certain kinds of people to bring them over but this ain’t no vette or at least this is a vette that cares nothing about where it came from. So, basically the bastard.
However, Joe can almost make me like any ride because of his fantastic presentation and review of vehicles. The man just has a passion for this that makes every car presentation fun and exciting. Great job as always Joe but I ain’t feeling it.

Chevy did their homework. Truly an amazing and well crafted car. A true classic brand new out of the box. Never see this car losing one dollar from original purchase price. A masterful machine. Well done General Motors. Excellent .
Damnnnn that sound with the e-motor sound so good thats the type of sound that you would hear only in movies like batman, james bond, I-robot, transformers, & some futuristic movies i always thought that would be nice to have cars out here that actually sound like that & now we have it chevy match that sound perfect for sure💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I have an unhealthy addiction to the sounds of the Z06 and GT350r, but my GOODNESS does this E-ray sound SO good. The V8 sound combined with the Tron sfx is actually amazing. Really cool.

I think this is the best vette yet! AWD, stealth mode to leave the neighborhood, mega fast 0-60, wide body of the ZO6 - this would be my pick. Great grand tourer!
Yup, this is #1 on my wish list. I love the stealth mode personally. I know the enthusiasts love the loud sound of the engine roaring but it's aggravating to me (i'm a MI girl, heard plenty of sound growing up haha) and I don't want my neighbors to know of my coming and goings 😄

I am not an EV fan in any capacity and I thought the Eray was going to be an abomination. I have to say I may have been wrong on this. Love the sound and color combinations. Well done!

Blue looks good, I prefer black with. This color scheme, but I can understand why they did blue for the color coordination, beautiful interior all the way
Hot car! Riptide Blue reminds me of Jetstream Blue they used on the C6 (08-11). Looks incredible in the sunlight. E-Ray looks better than the "base" Stingray with the Z06 body and color matched trim. The sound is just amazing - its part roar of an angry Tiger combined with the whine of a jet fighter - just amazing. Gonna have to watch this over and over again!

I just sold my 2015 Z07 original owner as 3 yrs with C8 made 07 obsolete. C8 Elkhart Lake Blue 3LT all Aero improved with girotech brakes & Borla exhaust. My C8Z06 riptide arrives in 2 months. Eray should be the rain car! but nothing beats Z06 precision, handling& dynamic 8,600 rom engine. I wonder if the Eray battery will last a 30 minute twisty race track session? I am sure Z06 is more performance aggressive
I'm intrigue by the Eray but keeping the C8 ZO6 and C7 ZO6. We sold the C8 Stingray to make room for the C8 ZO6 arrival.
All I can afford at this point Raiti is the Denver Colorado Turkey Leg 🍗.😆. Pheww! This car is expensive

I typically have no complaints about your reviews. This time, ... as much as you told us it's all about "that sound", .. I could hardly find a single pull where we could just "hear" that sound. Your comments and understandable excitement yelps overrode the aural experience! .. Aside from that, ... Great Job!

Excellent review!!! Astonishingly Advanced Engineering! If i still lived in Jersey i would be on the list, but since i'm in Florida I'll stick with the Zo6 and it's Plump Hip's. As far as the Price, the C8 in All trim's and Spec's is an Absolute Bargain! Many people are paying a Hundred Grand and More for Mopar's! The interior is Far more Welcoming than a P , F , L , Mc, etc. etc. . Anyone who hasn't experienced a C8 will be Shocked ,the Look, the Sound,the Shift's, "Although I Would like a 3rd Pedal as an option " , it Truly is an Amazing Vehicle. 3,4,+ ×time's Priced car's can't Equal this car!

I’m torn on whether to sell my Stingray to upgrade to this. Everything is basically the same except the electric motor
Joe wanted to ask your opinion in regards to the Eray. Which one do you like better coupe or convertible?
Love the combo of the e-motor as a boost for a V8! Much better than a turbo or supercharger.
It sounds good on paper! However, do the pros outweigh the cons? My worries about long-term ownership of too many electronics cause complications.
At least the main engine can be rebuilt... the e-motor and batteries will be easier to replace when they die.
Hate hybrid systems!! Once the warranty pasts in those 4 or 5 years are gonna cost you a lot of money for updates!! Paying almost , says $90K for a couple of years until the hybrid system needs an updated, then you're gonna start crying or looking for a new one.
Why do you see fewer hybrid vehicles of 2011 or 2015 in the streets due to updates they need? Once u go to dealerships, they said it's cost you say forget it get new one!! Then come the cycle of spending more money for waste. Great review rai anyway!!

Hey Joe I watched many of your reviews and I always picked to watch your videos over anyone else on UA-cam, because most of us will agree. You have a special talent for this. Keep up the good work. One thing I did notice I watched you reviewing C8 and 70th edition but on E-Ray when you say here we go on a THROTTLE you have a different kind of face expression then on another reviews. Is really E-ray worth a wait or is that amazing?? I'm in of process of ordering my first C8 for the first time ever but I'm wondering : Should I just order E-ray and wait God knows how long. I can get C8 in about 3 months or wait for E-ray. Please corvette veterans help with your advices. What should I do??? And also Joe I would like your input since you test drove E-ray. Thank you sir in advance.

The eray performs well but i can't see someone in market not picking the more hardcore z06. If you want comfort the regular stingray will be better.

Hagerty got 0-60 in 2.4 and 10.5 in the quarter. I forget the trap speed.
I put a deposit down for this last year, but I took it back, and just bought a C7 Z06 in
Velocity Yellow Tintcoat with a 7-speed stick, for half the price.
If I were to get a C8, this is the one. The upcoming ZR1 SHOULD add this eAWD to the Z06 engine

My main issue is for the European buyers.the eray is nearly indistinguishable from the z06.both have a wide body,both have the exhaust in the same place unlike the us version.price is similar.i believe you can also get the z07 aerodynamics for it too.
I think that Chevy was kinda put in between a rock and a hard place design wise.i think they could have done more to further distinguish each model.hire a 7 year old boy to do the midcycle refresh, maybe that'll work 😂😂😂

This car would work a lot better for me! All season tires, not as stiff as ZO6, but still get the heavy duty brakes and 345s on the back!

Raiti , those GM engines V8s are not ‘old technology’ They are super advanced, electronic fuel direct injection, advanced VVT, super high compression ratio, dry sump oil system, cylinder deactivation.. easily the most advanced v8s on the planet

They are still using ancient pushrods, ford moved to DOHC and GM put DOHC on the Z06 and the hemi is gone now so yes it is outdated
@jordanplays-transitandgame1690 DOHC technology was invented in 1910 by Peugeot, in a product car. Buick invented OHV in 1904.
The reason people perceive OHV technology as older is due to Japanese marketing.
However OHV is superior technology and much more difficult to master. You can run a high displacement high power motor that is much lighter and more efficient.
Other manufacturers refused to invest engineering resources to meet the technical challenges of VVTi in OHV motors, but GM did.
A small block is lighter than a Camry 2.5. The power output is not comparable and it can run on 4 cylinders.
A camaro SS will get over 30 MPG highway if you are not pushing it
