Just like to say. Fantastic video, I watch a lot of DIY videos, normally just to see how others do it. I’m new to Vauxhalls so yeah, great video. Well explained.
Yh not a hard job and should be too expensive, if your being over charged you should get a few quotes before hand so you can get a good idea of the right price 👍
@@MrAutoFixer it's so hard to find a trustworthy mechanic now day's and most are so expensive just for comparison an average gp doctor gets £35 per hour but a mechanic average hour is over £50
Excellent video. I have bought insignia 2011 tourer and I am curious about changing the brake pads. getting a slight stuttery feel when braking at low speeds, not mechanically trained at all but I like to have a look so this video will help with that. Thank you.
Hello there, such a great video and clean and understandable, i want to change now after watching this video, i have one question about my insignia 2012, when i push the gas pedal a little bit more while driving the carstarts shaking a little bit i don't know what can be, anyone have this experience or anything that can help? Thanks!
Fantastic video. Just what i was looking for. Doing my front brakes tomorrow 28/10/24 . You mentioned a road test which i fully understand. But do I need too bleed them 🤔
Hi, no you won’t need to bleed the brakes as you are not undoing any parts of the hydraulic system you are just pushing the pistons back so you should be all good. Please let me know how you get on.
@MrAutoFixer Yeah going smoothly until I couldn't undo the big bolts but problem solved pop into my local garage borrowed there cordless impact wrench. Returned when finished ps they had locktite on
Hi Mate. have you ever changed the oil sump pick up seal. I think it's a rubber gasket. Would be excellent to see a video of that on the Vauxhall Insignia and to see how easy it would be or difficult it would be for likes of me lol.
Great video well explained and shown. other vids say to open the break fluid cap when pushing back the caliper piston. Is using a screw driver/grips is safe and wont damage the caliper piston?
Checking the fluid before you start to make sure it won’t spill over is a good idea, and as long as you are careful using grips or screwdriver is fine 👍
Is it identical to the newer model you think? I need to change brakes on our 2021 insignia but I think it’s the back since we got that noise you got when spinning the front wheel in the video. Cheers!
It will be very similar if it’s not the same, if it’s the rear you need to change just check if your handbrake is electric you will need a scan tool to set the caliper motor into a service position 👍
Ok great vidoe thanks I have a 2016 insignia with electric hand brake,I need to change rear pads, easy enough but want I want help with is this,do I need a diagnostic reader or something to calibrate the rear hand brake,or is it simply a case of just winding back piston, with handbrake off while I do it,any advice worked be appreciated thank you
Hi, yes with electric handbrakes you normally need to have a computer to put it in maintenance mode so you can push the pistons back without damaging them! Only exception to this is if the electric handbrake mechanism is not attached to the caliper(cable operated) then you won’t need to plug it in to do it. So please check what setup you have before hand, and yes take the brake fluid cap off will help allow the fluid to move when pushing the pistons back. Hope that helps let me know how you get on 👍
@tbh8283 not a lot really if you left the cap on and the fluid level was ok when you push the pistons back the fluid will just be forced by the cap seal and leak out and it may also be a little harder to push the pistons back but nothing serious really 👍
Just spoke to Vauxhall, the front disc are 296mm and the rear disc are 292mm. This for my Insignia 2009 model. I'm sure its the same as the one in the video

Hey 👋 thanks for watching I really appreciate it 👍
Looks fairly straightforward can't see why mechanics charge so much for the job . Thanks

Clear, concise and no bull..thanks, and a special thanks for sizes and types of fixings..[torx etc] subbed & liked
Hey 👋 thank you and thanks for watching
Great video and info, what would you do if the Torx was seized/head was knackered?
Hey 👋 if it’s nackered then you can knock it round with a punch or failing that just drill it out 👍

@seanwallace1771 no worries look forward to hearing how it went 👍
Should be the same for a 16 plate ennit?
Yh pretty much mate 👍
Do you know where they ordered the parts? If you're not in the UK
Hey i am in the uk and i use supplies like euro car parts, GSF and Spartan 👍
Also did you remove the brake fluid resovior cap before hand,
Hey yes remove the cap before pushing the pistons back👍

Should the handbrake be on or off
Hi won’t make a difference if you are changing the fronts 👍
Hi what’s overall price for job I’ve got same car!!
Thanks
Hi all in was £200
Got all 4 of my pads and discs done on the exact same car but 2016 model sports tourer from stoneacre they charged me £600 including labor
Was you happy with that price ? I think I might be too cheap 😂

Surprised he didn’t drive through a wall with them brakes. Shocking what some people drive around with.
I know I do see it a lot! 👍
what about the bleeding process, dont you need to do that?
You only need to bleed the brakes if you are changing the fluid, 👍
@MrAutoFixer that's interesting, what about the rear brakes?
@bojidarmartinov5949 still the same only billed if you are touching the fluid
@@bojidarmartinov5949you are Not introducing air into the brake system. That’s why you don’t need to bleed.
