Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video! It’s cost me £55 quid and a couple of hours work, instead of around 200 quid to fully service my car for life now! 👍
Thanks for this. I done a full service on my gf's Insignia B (first time I've changed a fuel filter), but she jumped in it straight after and engine started for a second or 2 then cut out! She looked at me with a look that would melt iron, I think she loves her car more than me. Anyway, this video saved me, turned the ignition on and off about 15 times without the engine, and eventually started hearing some strange noises from back near the fuel filter, bit like the noise when someone is milking a cow into a bucket! After that car started up but stuttered a bit. Took it for a spin and after that it has been fine! So thanks for that, I appreciate it.
That's brilliant can imagine her looking at you think what have you done to my baby 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Really happy the video helped that's great news thank you for your comment and Sharing you success 👍
Done my first ever service yesterday after watching this, thanks! Sump nut rounded off and garage didn’t want to crack it in case the sump itself cracked so had to use an oil extractor to get it out through the dip stick hole. Not ideal but it’s done. Felt like a proper bloke 😁
Thank you for your comment it's great that you did well done really happy the video have you the confidence and helped you out Love comments like these that's what it is all about
I always give this a quick watch before I service my insignia. One tip I have found is the large Toblerone tube makes a great drain for the filter housing with one side cut along the length to make a channel. Done my for the last time as it's now up for sale to be replaced by a camper.
That's great to hear Paul I'm glad this video has helped and thank you for your comment Thats a cracking Idea I'm sure it will help others out Hope you enjoy the camper
I do love an insignia - I've had company cars for the last three years but getting my own car again next month and first job is this.! Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Everything explained in layman's terms. I got a 11 year old insignia 1.8 petrol and was looking how too change fuel filter. Since I don't think it ever had a change. Your video gives me the confidence too give it a shot myself.
This is really great. I've had a 2011 Saab Z19DTR which is really similar for three years now and only with the last service did I decide to do all by myself. Took a lot of digging on the internet to find out where everything was, but once you do it, it's really simple the next time. This kind of videos really help build up confidence to do this kind of stuff yourself, highly appreciate it. That's great to hear Frank and thanks for your comment. I do have a video replacing the rear springs for the insignia. It's a shame I don't have cars to work on now hence no videos. Saying that tho I am about to fit new coil overs on my bmw 420 so I might video that. If you have any issues or get stuck drop a comment on this video hopefully I see it pretty quickly Thanks dave

Thanks for the video, I have not long ago bought an insignia. I have never done anything on a car before and from your video, I did the air, pollen and fuel as it was so easy to do. Thanks again for the easy explanation. I may venture to do the oil soon, until then i'll get the garage to do.
Just finished all but the oil (which I do every 10k miles). Handy tip I came across - put a snug fitting wooden block between the car body and the filter body. This stops the fuel filter body from moving if the filter has been tightened to more than 25Nm (as mine had been!).

Hi there I don't want to sound daft but would this be a similar process for the face-lift insignia? Many thanks on the video it was very helpful to watch
Yes you could but that could invoke a lot more work on some vehicles. I think that is over kill myself if you do regular oil changes there's no need to remove the sump. But if you wanted to there's no harm in doing so

Had my car serviced at a garage but the oil is still black so not so sure if they did it or not. I have insignia 2010, I did read sometimes the oil can still go black after a service is this true? I’ll be checking the air filter to see if they have replaced that wish I watched your vid first. After first drive I had a message saying oil pressure warning turn off engine so did that turned it back on and didn’t have the warning but did notice after looking under the bonnet that they had even disconnected the radiator fan and not plugged it back in. Not even sure why it was disconnected. Any advice?
Oil can look black after a change. But not jet black normally like a bronze sort of colour. If you did like 100 miles then had a look it could seem black but if you checked it straight after it should look pretty clean. No idea why fan was unplugged that's odd. I would also be suspicious like you. Hope this helps thanks Dave
@@Thediycarchannel the reason it went in was because the car went into limp mode and rac guy said only fault that came up was the exhaust temp sensor was high. So took it to garage and they replaced the sensor did a flush of the dpf as said it may not if regenerated if faulty sensor so had it serviced as well. I checked the oil after a drive as I had oil pressure low come up turn off engine message but that went after I switched it on again. Also had abs and anti skid lights come on a couple of times since it being serviced and two new tyers
Thank you so much for this honestly I've been searching everywhere to find information about how to service my insignia, every garage I've visited priced me no lower than £245 I'm going to look at the parts now you've listed and hopefully pick them all up 👌
Nice video very informative only problem I have is the same light you had on won't go out tried the few steps I seen online but keeps coming back on I have obd torque app on phone can reset light but coms back in a day or 2 of driving. The light with spanner on it came on when prompted that oil has 38% on it.
Great Video mate , I've always tried to do my own mechanics and servicing whenever possible, Vauxhalls are pretty basic and easy to work on and your video really helped - Some good tips along the way. I owe you a pint.
That's brilliant Chris. I'm glad you found it helpful thanks for your positive feedback I appreciate it. Honestly you owe me nothing my satisfaction comes from comments like yours I'm happy if your happy and if it saves you ££££££ it's a big win
Fantastic video thanks for taking the time to upload this, its gave me the confidence to do my own now. quick question I have the insignia 2.0 cdti 2015 model, think its 170ps would it be the same kit as you used. thanks
Sir! Would just like to say a big thank you!! I serviced my insignia today following your handy video and SUCCESS!! I’m pleased to say 😊 next project for me is the timing belt! 😬 but thank you thank you thank you!! 👍🏼
Great video, really helpful! Just one thing, I couldn't see an axle stand under it! Please don't rely on just a hydraulic jack, I know of someone who got partially crushed by a car when the jack came down on its own. You can get them pretty cheap for a pair of 3 ton stands. Cheers again for the video 👍
Thanks John. I do use stands and the wheel is under the car too if it was to drop. I just don't show Jacking points and axle stand point just incase someone follows my advice and gets hurt
@@Thediycarchannel Hey, sorry I'm not meaning to discredit your work in any way whatsoever. I just get a bit worried for anyone who might take a chance not using a stand. Like I say, I knew someone who ended up with some quite serious long lasting injuries after a jack let itself down without warning. And I've had a trolley jack fail myself, luckily without anyone close enough to get injured. It's made me a little wary of them now as you can imagine😁
Thank you it's an easy job just make sure you have the right sockets sizes etc and it's a breeze and don't over fill the oil just take your time putting it in and it will all be good
@@Thediycarchannel, hi mate, could you please fully service my 2011 Insignia Sri? Plus its giving me a couple problems like less power when going up hills even with the peddle fully down and that's only in 3rd gear. Finally when taking it to 45 - 50 mph it feels like it's gonna stall and I feel a hesitation coming from the front of car. I don't know nothing about cars and I don't wanna get ripped off by any garages. I'd be so happy if you could fix these problems for us. Take care hope to hear from you soon.
Send me a private message here see if we can sort something out it depends where you live davidbutler2008@hotmail.co.uk If I can help you out I will The hesitation could be a long list of things Injectors , maf , turbo , blocked filters Send me an email we can go from there
My 2013 118kw 2.0 insignia had the same problem, the force disappeared because the turbo switch off for this reason, the egr cooler housing gasket was worn_out which led to the coolant entering the intake manifold(sorry my bad english)
Mate this video is brilliant. I have changed the pollen filter and the air filter already from watching this tutorial. I will be tackling the oil change, oil filter and fuel filter as soon as I pick up my new trolley jack.... Then onto water pump and timing belt haha. Thanks for the tips and keep up the good work. SUBSCRIBED!! PS. Are you definitely supposed to leave the white sheet on the new air filter when installing... my old filter didn't have one? I fitted it like you have in the video and left it on for now... just curious?
@Thediycarchannel it's ok I have figured it out now... it's a pre-filter the manufacturer puts on the actual filter, usually for harsh environments and for larger debris. Completely normal and doesnt need removing.. Thanks again. 👍
this might help other insignia owners, i had a message come up on my dash reading " Service Vehicle soon" took it to garage and it turned out in my case to be numer one glow plug at fault, replaced and all is well this job was expensive £94 for glow plug plus labour and vat, seen clips on utube on how to do this, but be warned if you break glow plug in cylinder you have got big problems, i.e cylinder head has to come off, garage cost to do this iam told up to £2000.
Great video. I have carried out my service on my 2016 vauxhall insignia 1.6ltr diesel and seems to have gone well. Only concern now is the engine management light is on. Looking through the Haynes Manual I have and online, is the engine management light on as there is too much oxygen in the system that the sensors are picking up and will clear/remove the engine management light if you continue to drive the car?
@Thediycarchannel haha! It has since cleared. I'm just in need if a obd scanner to clear the 'service' message on the dashboard. Thanks again for the step by step guide, made the self service very easy.
Thanks for making the video. The car service Centre's are charging astronomical prices. It is like they only 25% less then the dealer. You saved yourself a fortune. Also you can be happy that you put quality parts, whereas with some Centre's you just are not sure.
No problem at all thank you I agree 💯 that's why I wanted to shared an how to video it's not difficult and I know ever job was done and like I said with quality parts
Hi please can you tell me why my insignia 2011 always loses the oil cap, I always tighten it but it always comes loose and enough oil is escaping from there. Secondly, under the cabinet driver's side. After switching the engine off, there's this sound like long bip sound that slowly goes off. The last. In the air system or hydraulic system, there's also sound like gas out of a cow. But only sometimes not always. I want to be sure of what it's going on before I will go to mechanic. Sometimes it can be something that doesn't need a repair hope. Thanks
Top video, was going to pay to get my service done but after watching your video, i am confident i can do it my self. Two questions, do the new seals come with the new filters? and would you recommend using a engine flush/. Cheers
Thank you. If you buy a good brand like Bosch or mann etc they normally come with seals. On brand new cars a flush would be fine. But on a car that's done miles I wouldn't personally. It may loosen stuff up and block the small oil feed holes etc. Just regular oil changes will be fine. And if you start to do it yourself it saves a lot of money too
@@Thediycarchannel Cheers bud, going to follow your video when i do it in a week or so. I know i am late to your video but i have never really worked on my cars as i have never done so until last weekend, i changed the alternator and now after watching your video, i have the confidence to do a full service, cheers.
If you did the alternator you will be totally fine with a service it's easier than brakes. If you get stuck drop a comment I will do my best to help. Also when you do it let me know how you get on it would be nice to hear of your success.
Is it easy enough to do fuel filter without jacking the car? I have no axle stands and just the standard scissor jack the car came with, auppose could use that, wary tho with no axle stand. Great video btw. Always someone who will need it.
You would need to jack it up for clearance really unless you have a high curb near by you can park on. Use your scissor jack but put somthing under the car incase it falls also the wheels will. Still be on
Thanks. Very useful. Serviced my old car but only recently got a 2015 insignia and couldn't work out where the oil filter was. Can you not use a piece of tube over the filter drain and send it into a tub rather than the cardboard?
Hi, at the end of your video (13min 30 secs) you are re-pressurising the fuel system by turning the ignition on and off ? - Does that mean the fuel pump is electric ?? Also what size is the OIL filter cover ? - I know you said the fuel filter was 36mm - But what size is the oil cover ??? it looks a bit smaller ? possibly a 34?
Yes its the fuel pump The sizes should be in the video and in the discription I can't remember the sizes of the top of my head not had that car for over 3 years now
Hi mate, great video! Going to attempt this on my insignia. Quick question, how do i know ive tightened them to 25nm? Or is that the tool fitment id use? Sorry if daft question
No such thing as a daft question. Your meant to use a torque wrench but I do it hand tight then probably about 1/4 of a turn it don't need to be mega tight. If you can get a torque wrench that would be perfect
Cheers for this, was concerned about doing fuel filter after hearing horror stories of not being able to re-pressurise the system and cars not starting etc. Doing my car today ;0)
Doing oil change and all filters on mine plus cam belt , water pump, aux belt and tensioner and egr strip and clean too, had a look at your vid for a couple of reference points , so thanks for the upload, can you tell me though , when you did the fuel filter did you need remove any under panels to get to it ?
@Thediycarchannel OK thanks, I'll get under the car soon and find out, I heard because mine is the ecoflex it's all panels underneath apparently to make it less wind resistant
Nice video and very useful, just want to say that i never use a key for the oil filter cap, i do this always by hand and i like your papper´s oil drain.
Nice video. Thanks for making it. I am trying to do a fuel filter change but the garage that did it last has put the nut on way too tight - stupidly tight, and I can't undo it. I am using a 36mm socket and wrench. The fuel filter is housed on the tank and there have been reports that people have actually cracked the plastic housing bracket and tank trying to change the fuel filter when it has been put on too tight. I have tried WD40 on the mating surface of the housing but so far I can't get it undone. The other way is to unclip the fuel housing unit from the car entirely and try to unscrew it on the workbench but this seems a very big job with all that fuel. Any thoughts? Thanks once again.
Thank you RJ I appreciate it. If it's as right as you say and you have tried everything your last resort of the work bench may be your only option. Especially if it's going to stop you damaging it. Sorry I can't be more help The only thing I would try is penatrating oil it's a spray orange and black can 3 in1 brand
Really helpful video. After what my local garage charged me for an oil and filter change on my diesel Insignia last time I'm going to do it myself this time. I have been looking at those vacuum pumps to get the oil out. They look like they save a lot of time and faffing. Any thoughts on that method?
Yes trolly jack is fine but use axle stands don't trust the jack Panels are a pain to be honest I just removed mine permanently People say it affects cooling and makes your engine get dirty quicker but I didn't notice any issues with either Thank you for you positive comment aswel really appreciate it 👍
@@craigcrebbin2250 just be careful once it's on the axle stands give the car a shake make sure it's stable before you go under No u don't want it falling when u shake it but better to fall when u not under it I also put the wheel under the car aswel just in case it falls That won't save you but gets the wheel out the way Just take your time don't rush 😉
I didn't have an undertray on my car it was taken off. If I don't say what size it is in the video I don't know sorry I haven't owned the car for around 3 years now
One question. My car has a plastic shell on the base to protect the base of the engine. Do you need to take off the base plastic shell to change the oil and diesel filters?
Sorry didn't notify me of this message Yes it needs removing to change engine oil it blocks access to the sump nut If you watched video you would see the fuel filter isn't under the engine
Hi, The video you did is brilliant, thank you for that. You help me a lot... I have one question for you, maybe you can support... I can not see the oil consumption on top on my mileage- on car PC screen. I see only mileage. Is there any way to turn ON that, so I can see also oil consumption? Thank you.
Tried this lol an Astra wouldn’t start, could not get fuel back round to filter. Following all online advice, primed an did key loads of times but nothing. Killed my battery an mechanic couldn’t even get it going due to zero fuel pressure, it’s now in garage lol
The DIY Car Channel all seals done, tightened it right up then nipped little more an fuel just not priming back up to filter. Did it to save cash but now Its in garage lol so god knows what they gonna say it needs doing.
The DIY Car Channel yeah got to be minor as car had no issues til changed filter. It’s ended up in Halfrauds tho so who knows what they will sting me for. Will stick outcome on here anyway. 👍
As an aircraft engineer, I know sod all about cars. I'll be servicing my Insignia soon with this video! Any chance of a timing belt and water pump video on an Insignia?
My own insignia is gone now But I did do a timing belt on it and it wasn't to bad at all If you want me to tell you what i did send me an email to thediycarchannel88@gmail.com Thanks Dave
Hiya mate, just seen this video now and its a good clear sounding, well categorised video with brilliant instruction on what to do and tools needed set out in description. Which brings me to why im here. Could you possible put a link up to what torq wrench you used please as there are quite a lot on the market. Many thanks fella 👌
Can't add a link here not sure why I have put a link in the discription on the video for you it's down the bottom in the discription blet me know if it works Thanks Dave
Thank you for such a good video. Unfortunately it made me attempt this. I couldn’t get the oil drain plug undone. Far too tight and rounded off. Any suggestions on how to remove?
That's not good if u don't have tools you will need to take it to a garage unfortunately And with out seeing it it's hard to advise sorry Obviously some idiot over tightened it
I have now added Chapters to the video, so you can navigate to which ever part you need. Hopefully it makes it easier and quicker for you Thanks dave

Amazing job. Very specific and educational. Just one observation... open oil cap from top of engine as well when draining oil. Flows down better ...
Makes no difference as it's not air tight seal
Drains faster

Just finished all but the oil (which I do every 10k miles). Handy tip I came across - put a snug fitting wooden block between the car body and the filter body. This stops the fuel filter body from moving if the filter has been tightened to more than 25Nm (as mine had been!).

Hi there I don't want to sound daft but would this be a similar process for the face-lift insignia?
Many thanks on the video it was very helpful to watch
It's same principle but could be items in different locations
Great video, just a little confused, you state the torque setting for the sump drain plug is 25 nm. but the HAYNES Insignia manual states 14nm.
Follow the Haynes manual you have. Mine says 25nm same as the oil filter housing
I like the cardboard idea man . I will try it myself ,thanks man.
No worries thanks you for your comment

😂😂😂 It's not to bad just make sure you have tye right tools and take your time and be safe under the car and you will be ok
fantastic video very thorough helped me out big time thanks

Another good tip is to take the sump off and wash it in a parts washer, thats what my tutor in college done when he seviced his own cars.
Yes you could but that could invoke a lot more work on some vehicles. I think that is over kill myself if you do regular oil changes there's no need to remove the sump. But if you wanted to there's no harm in doing so
Great video mate..just completed my first full service from start to finish(2013 insignia 2l sri) using this video..perfectly explained throughout.

I would take it back and query it especially the low oil pressure that's not good at all Darren
Thank you so much for this honestly I've been searching everywhere to find information about how to service my insignia, every garage I've visited priced me no lower than £245 I'm going to look at the parts now you've listed and hopefully pick them all up 👌
That's brilliant Danny Im glad you found it helpful
Nice video very informative only problem I have is the same light you had on won't go out tried the few steps I seen online but keeps coming back on I have obd torque app on phone can reset light but coms back in a day or 2 of driving. The light with spanner on it came on when prompted that oil has 38% on it.
Sounds like engine management light
Is there any codes coming up when you check it with obd
Also obd is a basic scanner so might not bring fault up
@@Thediycarchannel nó codes come up i was under the impression it was service light. Cheers for swift reply
@@ianfrancis2179 it could be but doesn't make sense that it keeps coming back on it happened to me and ended being glow plugs
Great video, very helpful and clear
Thanks jamie
Great video just done the pollen and air filter, totally agree only use branded filters the one Arnold Clarke serviced my car with had fallen apart
Thank you sometimes the better quality ain't to much more money it's mad
That can be the problem with garages some of them not all of them
Great video well presented, card trick for the oil filter change worked a treat for me thanks for sharing 👍🏻
No probs happy it helped thank you
Fantastic video thanks for taking the time to upload this, its gave me the confidence to do my own now. quick question I have the insignia 2.0 cdti 2015 model, think its 170ps would it be the same kit as you used. thanks
No not at all no offense taken what so ever I appreciate your input
Great video....will be saving it for when my Insignia is due a service !

Thank you that's why I made it again I thought the last one was lacking info glad you liked it thank you
Excellent video. Many thanks.
No worries Andy thank you
Hi, thanks for the help. Is it essential to change the oil pan drain plug? Thank you
No it isn't you can just get a new copper crush washer
But you don't have to replace any of it I do it for peace of mind
Just did a full service with this video. Awesome. Thank you very much!
No probs thank you for your comment happy it helped you out
great vid well explained for the not so handy car person like my self, gonna try it my self and save quids, thanks
Send me a private message here see if we can sort something out it depends where you live
davidbutler2008@hotmail.co.uk
If I can help you out I will
The hesitation could be a long list of things
Injectors , maf , turbo , blocked filters
Send me an email we can go from there
My 2013 118kw 2.0 insignia had the same problem, the force disappeared because the turbo switch off for this reason, the egr cooler housing gasket was worn_out which led to the coolant entering the intake manifold(sorry my bad english)
That's brilliant.
I'm not sure what you mean by the white sheet sorry what do you mean?
Thatnks for the sub and I'm glad you like the videos
@Thediycarchannel it's ok I have figured it out now... it's a pre-filter the manufacturer puts on the actual filter, usually for harsh environments and for larger debris. Completely normal and doesnt need removing.. Thanks again. 👍
@projectgaming3364 no worries. Glad you worked it out
Thank you. I'll give it a go next weekend.
No worries Allen goodluck
Couldn’t get sump nut off Iv no torque wrench, I admitted defeat and it’s goin to a garage, replaced my front brake pads though 😊
That's a shame but at least you tried
Hopefully the garage does it OK and next time you can do it your self
Another fantastic video thank you. as always clear concise and informative with great clarity. 👍👍
Really appreciate your kind comment thank you people like you make it worth the effort of doing the videos so thanks again 👍
Useful video, thanks. I can't see my fuel filter. It's a 2015 2l diesel.
Do I need to remove a cover to find it? Thanks 👍
I haven't worked on a 2015 model it may be in a different location
this might help other insignia owners, i had a message come up on my dash reading " Service Vehicle soon" took it to garage and it turned out in my case to be numer one glow plug at fault, replaced and all is well this job was expensive £94 for glow plug plus labour and vat, seen clips on utube on how to do this, but be warned if you break glow plug in cylinder you have got big problems, i.e cylinder head has to come off, garage cost to do this iam told up to £2000.
I do have a glow plug change video on my channel
Great job mate, very helpful instructions 👍
Thank you Marcin its good to hear when the videos help
Great video. I have carried out my service on my 2016 vauxhall insignia 1.6ltr diesel and seems to have gone well. Only concern now is the engine management light is on. Looking through the Haynes Manual I have and online, is the engine management light on as there is too much oxygen in the system that the sensors are picking up and will clear/remove the engine management light if you continue to drive the car?
Is the maf meaning the mass air flow meter bad?
Sounds like that could be your fault
@Thediycarchannel haha! It has since cleared. I'm just in need if a obd scanner to clear the 'service' message on the dashboard. Thanks again for the step by step guide, made the self service very easy.
Thanks for making the video. The car service Centre's are charging astronomical prices. It is like they only 25% less then the dealer. You saved yourself a fortune. Also you can be happy that you put quality parts, whereas with some Centre's you just are not sure.
No problem at all thank you
I agree 💯 that's why I wanted to shared an how to video it's not difficult and I know ever job was done and like I said with quality parts
Great video man. Very informative at every stage. Would you consider doing a coolant change video? That would also be cool!! Thumbs up!!
I don't have the car no more and don't have access to one either either unfortunately.
Thank you for your kind comment too I appreciate it
Hi please can you tell me why my insignia 2011 always loses the oil cap, I always tighten it but it always comes loose and enough oil is escaping from there.
Thanks
I'm sorry but really not sure.
@@Thediycarchannel Cheers, will do, hopefully it will be in the next week or two.
Ye no worries I'm here to help and normally pretty active. Unless I'm on my night shifts then it takes a few days for a reply unfortunately.
Still be on
Hi there thank you so much for the video just wondering if this applied to 65 plate insignia?
No worries rob
I can't answer that this is the newest I have worked on I can't imagine it much different if it is
Thanks. Very useful. Serviced my old car but only recently got a 2015 insignia and couldn't work out where the oil filter was. Can you not use a piece of tube over the filter drain and send it into a tub rather than the cardboard?
Yes I'm sure that would work but I just use cardboard
Class video. Is the under tray easy to come off as not keen on trying to change oil through the pull down flap.
Thank you
To take the drop down flap off you have to undo a few screws at the front then cut fabric tape at the rear this is why I left mine off
And if you leave flap on
You have to jack the car really high to fold it towards rear of car out the way
It's a pain
excellent video, really well made and helpfull thanks.
Missed this comment. I am sorry, thank you Robert
Yes its the fuel pump
The sizes should be in the video and in the discription I can't remember the sizes of the top of my head not had that car for over 3 years now
It's 32mm it's in the video discription all the tools and sizes are listed there
Hi mate, great video!
As you seen in video just put ignition on and off 4 or 5 times you will hear it gurgling when it goes quite fire it up
Unless it's a Ford lol they are a pain
I have had fords years ago but the insignia is a good car for the money you can pick them up for these days
Thank you for such a good descriptive video

No worries for the video.
It's been quite a while since I did this but I belive it's just a black plastic canister and no panels
@Thediycarchannel OK thanks, I'll get under the car soon and find out, I heard because mine is the ecoflex it's all panels underneath apparently to make it less wind resistant
@stevelake9333 could be true I haven't worked on the ecoflex

Hi .great video. Can I use glow plugs without sensor on my insignia although the old ones are with sensor
No you will have to use the sensor type unfortunately
What are the maintenance intervals for all the filters ?
I'm not really sure you be better checking your service manual for you car
Sorry I can't be more help
The only thing I would try is penatrating oil it's a spray orange and black can 3 in1 brand
Thanks very much, will try the spray. If I get it undone I will let you know...
Got my fingers crossed for you RJ
Really helpful video. After what my local garage charged me for an oil and filter change on my diesel Insignia last time I'm going to do it myself this time. I have been looking at those vacuum pumps to get the oil out. They look like they save a lot of time and faffing. Any thoughts on that method?
Never done it myself. I would prefer to remove sump nut and drain as much as possible out
Spot on pal ! Thanks a lot , how easy to take skid panels off , Also can I just use a trolly jack for service
Yes trolly jack is fine but use axle stands don't trust the jack
Panels are a pain to be honest I just removed mine permanently

One question. My car has a plastic shell on the base to protect the base of the engine. Do you need to take off the base plastic shell to change the oil and diesel filters?
Sorry didn't notify me of this message
Yes it needs removing to change engine oil it blocks access to the sump nut
If you watched video you would see the fuel filter isn't under the engine
I used to have the same car only in silver, but I now have a ecoflex elite 2015 model, will it be the same set up as the older model. Thanks.
