Tools and specs I used:
Wheel stoppers
Car jack
Jack stand
Breaker bar
Brush for cleaning
WD40 Rostlöser
10mm, 12mm and 18mm spanners for brake caliber bolts (28Nm)
Socket ratchet and 21mm socket for caliber bracket bolts (150Nm + 60°)
Brake piston tool to push piston back in
Torx T30 for disc screw (7Nm)
Disc Size 300mm
Rubber hammer to remove the disc
Brake cleaner
Paper towels
metal brush
Long-Term Anti-Corrosion agent
Nylon brush
Silicone Grease
Copper paste
Blue thread locker
DOT4 brake fluid if Necessary

Well done mate, wasn't easy on my first time when l learned and was 12, but take no offence to how young l was, as l was a junior mechanic on a work placement while supervised by adult tutors in a licensed garage. Since then, l become very skilled in changing brake pads and disc as it almost feel like doing house cooking, also house shelving and painting similarly matches same feeling to changing brakes. I love it, it kept me safe also from being financially ruined and costing me loads of rust issues that mechanics apart from putting brakes on correctly notices. l give them that, as brakes are on correctly however, but they deliberately avoid cleaning our calipers also copper greasing the brown steal behind disc to make more money these days also l had been and many more customers l know in places have been ripped off by garages on cleaning, also greasing issues. The way l see it, if you a professional mechanic and you have a customer paying you good money also labour to change brake pads, discs then least you could do is clean and grease the corners of pads, behind disc to to deter future issues with squeaks and rusts. These days, mechanics come in to work after booking on and just want a easier day also a quick shift to jog off back home. It make no sense these days mate, only thing l go to garages more on now is fitting new tyres and wheel alignments but that about it, oh and also MOT which l service my own ride myself. This is why many people that are fit driving should also personally maintain their own cars or bikes themselves, regardless as it would save them greater deal than heading straight down to their local dodgy GARAGE mechanic.
Excellent video, i never knew GM would put wind in calipers on the front too, the video is detailed, today i will drop the front wheel off to take a look, I had a brake squeal from the rear , i could not see anything wrong but stripped and cleaned then lubricated, so thought it would be a good idea to look at the front, its a second hand car .A very big thank you from Cheshire UK add on, at 10-47 you mention brake scream, that is what caused my noise, the pads though had 6mm left , I will now buy all new pads discs looked ok. Gosh brake scream and the cause again thank you.
Sometimes my front brakes make some squeal noice, even if everything is new, but i think that's because of the materials ?
@@kaukolaDIY Dust and crap from the roads will cause this, I made a mistake in my comment thinking the front calipers were similar to the rear brakes inasmuch as you wind the caliper in, where you actually push it back, I liked the video very much alas that wheel scream from the back has returned, but very softly and now has stopped i think the caliper is at fault, but first i will change the pads. I do not think its the bearing, One last thing, you use Bosch parts thats good, but the supplier i use will no doubt only supply pads and the steel locator shims, no boots or bolts, once again my thanks. Good video, makes me wonder if the pros at the mechanics actually do a good job like you have done,,, grease etc. Ps how long did it take you in total to change the both front sides?
I'm sure there is lots of pro mechanics, who will do their job good. I think they just sometimes don't have enough time to do everything perfectly. I don't have a routine for this kind of things, that's why i had to focus and spend more time, to make everything as good as possible.
@@kaukolaDIY They don't sometimes have enough time, that is true but however for prices they are charging excluding VAT on the hourly labour rate then they should make enough time for the little bits which goes a long way to customer satisfaction and aim to last longer than just 6,000 miles with the braking system of vehicle mainly always issue with other mechanics. I am a pro mechanic, on brakes, suspension, steering rod, axle changes etc but never leave the cleaning maintenance if steal underneath area l am working on behind and copper grease on every little corner l can apply given in order to save it future life and try get it last about 12,000 miles or a little over. I believe also in not just how we conduct job, but make sure we have enough time for the very odd one customer which have a difficult issue or query and seem apparent upset or worried and is vulnerable. We should take in mind, absolute best patience here including if their disabled and give them excellent service with their ride also treatment from out of garages work often going above also beyond, making sure that other customers not in their position and are willing to wait can respect our choices for unfortunate customers.👍🏻
Hello. Can I ask something please? Is there the diferent betwen the bolts from 300 mm disc and 276 mm disc? Thanks
Sorry, I don't know. Service manual, which i have, doesn't give any information about the sizes of the bolts.

Good job. But I have one friendly advice. Do not spray brake cleaner on rubber parts. They start to swell after brake cleaner.

Can you put 276 mm front disc? What's the difference?
In my car, i can't use smaller disc. Might be, that some Astra J models with smaller engine and less horsepower, has smaller brake disc size in front.
