I'd just like to mention that sometimes I can't be bothered to post a pocket pen when l only need it for a minute or two. I brace the barrel against my forefinger and have good control. Not that everyone wants to, but I do it.

Being a sucker for clear demonstrators my Wancai is 100% clear resin. It’s really satisfying to see a lot of ink swishing in that little pen.

I’ve got two of these-one just like yours and one clear. I hate that I love them so much. I immediately trashed the stock nibs and replaced them with, well, good ones. I love keeping temperamental inks in them. One’s been inked with Noodler’s Kung te-Cheng and the other with Noodler’s General of the Armies. Not that I won’t put these inks in my C/C pens, but these eyedroppers are so easy to maintain in terms of super saturated inks. They don’t clog, they don’t leak. They’re fantastic little pens that, when posted, are very comfortable for long duration writing sessions.

I have avoided pocket pens as you were limited to using short cartridges. I only use long international cartridges or a converter. This pen with an eyedropper option is fantastic. Thanks for the review

There’s definitely a role for these pockets pens. As you said, one can’t always carry a clipped pen. That said, I carry a Lamy 2000 in my jean pocket whenever I leave the house.

One of these just arrived today. Excellent build and function, performs reliably, and I LOVE the colour.

I thought the green was the one to get but the brown is really handsome!

Have always wanted to own a pocket fountain pen. I currently carry a Fisher Space Pen as my pocket pen. Love the size. It puts pen to paper, but not the smoothest writer. Still doing my research for a pocket for tain pen and love all the info. Keeps the videos coming. Love learning about all the for tain pen world has to offer, new to the scene 😀.

After I got my first pocket pen, I found they have a great use. I have several, now, from vintage to modern. (I have a Sheaffer's ringtop in my pocket right now, from the 1920s. With 1930s Carter's washable blue.😁) I don't always have a shirt pocket, so...
The Wancai really interests me. The material looks a lot like my beloved vintage Esterbrook pens. Thanks for sharing this, and God bless, James!

You know, I hadn’t put my finger on it, but you’re right. The resin and color pattern does have a vintage look.

@@JG3Reviews Just not the cellulose acetate of the Esterbrook pens. 😁

I just found your channel after stumbling across this pen on Amazon and looking on UA-cam for reviews. I'm inclined to agree with you on brown inks. My current favorite is Diamine Ancient Copper. By the end of the video I ordered a pen, and bottle of Private Reserve Chocolat.
I've recently been getting into vintage pens. I wasn't intending to add any more modern pens to my collection for a while, and never thought I'd buy another pocket pen. I have a Kaweco Sport that I've hardly used. It has a scratchy nib that needs some work, and is a bit small for my taste. I've switched to predominately wearing shirts with pockets so I can carry regular pens. But I couldn't resist the brown resin version of the Wancai Mini, and it looks like it has a large enough diameter that I will find it pleasant to use when posted. And I don't have any eyedropper pens in my collection yet, so it'll be nice to have for that aspect also. Thank you for the review, and for helping me find another brown ink to add to my collection.

Great color pen…looks like a cross between amber and tortoise. May have to get one if I like the Wancai demonstrator I have on order.

It’s a great resin. And this pen never ceases to surprise me with how reliable it is. I’ve had a bad couple of eye-dropper experiences, but this pen has a been ideal.

I had one of these (a plain transparent demo) inked up and forgotten about for somewhere between 6 months and a year. Stumbled across it when having a sort-out, and it wrote first time. I'm not actually that much of a fan as I'd prefer less of a step down and more threads on the back of the barrel for posting more securely, as I'm concerned how this would hold up over time. However, all that being said, I have to grudgingly tip my hat to it for being able to do that pen thing after months of neglect.

6:51, there is especially not enough Omas Sepia left in the world, which makes me sad. It's my absolute favorite brown ink. RIP Omas.

I am one of those weird people who ALWAYS wears a long-sleeved button-down shirt with a pocket or two pockets on my more "western" style shirts. If I carry a pen in my shirt pocket that doesn't have a clip, things tend to fall out of my pocket when I lean over, so being clipless is actually a negative for me. To me, any clipless pens are desktop pens. That being said, I have one of the original Moonman Wancai mini pens in clear transparent acrylic with an extra-fine nib, and I really like the way it writes. I would use it more if it had a clip and I carried it with me more often, though. If it had a clip, getting another couple of them in some of the new acrylics would be higher on my list.

An aftermarket clip for this would be a great option.

i know this is a bit of an old comment, but I have seen videos where people put the Kaweco sport clip to this Majohn Wancai and said that it works great. I myself have not tried this but just wanted to throw this out there for anyone else who might be interested.

Have you tried Monteverde brown sugar ink? That's my favorite brown ink.

Greetings from Australia. Great Review as always.
It would be more interesting to me if the nib was #6.
    You mentioned PenBBS:
I have a couple of their 471s which are pocket type pens which come with a standard #6 nib.
However, if one had the option of ordering a #6 nib I would be interested in buying this pen.
    On a side issue:
May I ask if you are into wooden pens?
It is a very slippery slope and I have a forest of them.
Enjoyed your video. Keep em coming.

A #6 and the options that would open up would be cool. I do need to explore the 471 at some point.
