    I have eyedropper the Pilot Petite with silicone grease and had great results. I love both the Pilot and the Kaweco.

    I have the same Pilot Petite and I think it’s a fantastic little pen. It writes so well that it surprises me every time I use it. I like the Blue/Black ink too, such a nice, rich color. I don’t have a modern Kaweco Sport, but I have an vintage Spot that is a piston fill. I’m afraid to put that one in my pocket without a pen sleeve to protect it so I don’t carry it often. But o do love the color of your blue Sport. Nicely done review, I appreciate that you have had so much time with these pens and know them well.

    The Papermate version of the Pilot is currently available in a 3-pack for £2.99. The supplied cartridges are nothing special, but buy a box of Diamine and you have a great little pen. The Kaweco Sport is around 20 times more expensive but still offers amazing value too.

    got the Petit fude one, but I only just came to appreciate Pilot's feed design after having a Kakuno, very easy to clean, even Petit can has the fins-feed pulled out, albeit usually with some damage(if it's not so dirty though, the feed may likely to be able to be poked out from the cartridge side). somehow my Petit got some thick mold on it despite using it's own ink, pulled the feed and put em on ultrasonic cleaner with diluted counter degreaser. with the fins and feed wick out, it was quick to clean and dry, 30m-1hr maintenance work. filled the emptied cartridge with cheapo pakistani ink and it works just fine.

    Thank you this recommendation. I journal every day and at my age I'm now taking notes to keep track of my thoughts:). I carry a pocket journal and a Polka pocket pen every day. The pilot petit1 looked good. Went to a site,realized that I had credit and purchased the pen with 6 cartridges for $0. Can't beat that. I will use it at the desk for a bit then to the pocket. Loving the channel and reveiws. More pens to come but I feel this is a good move for me. Thank You and God Bless.

      James I just wanted to add a another thank you for sharing time and honest reviews of the fountain pen. I got my Pilot petit1 in today. The only other fp that I had was the Zebra and it was at times hit and miss. This little petit is a perfect pen for my first. I have 3 more fountain pens on the way Jinhao x450, Jindal continual 100, and a Moonman m600s. I also have 2 bottles of in on the way. Again Thank You and God Bless You.

    One of the things I like the most about the Pilot Petit1 is how it posts. I never expect it to work as well as it does, and it's always a pleasure to remind myself "Ah yes, I remember now". I don't know how they do it (my guess is witchcraft) but it clicks into place wonderfully and makes the pen very usable for EDC.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  4 роки тому +1

      It's one of those pens where they just nailed it, and the price is just a huge bonus.

    • @bikkies

      @@JG3Reviews Absolutely. I believe the nib is the same as on the V-Pen (Varsity) but for some reason - maybe a different feed - it feels so much smoother and more stable. The V-Pen is OK but feels as disposable as it is intended to be. Feels like a rollerball. The Petit1 feels like a pen 2-3 times its actual price.

    I have eyedroppered these. I had to use both an o ring and silicone grease to really seal it up tho.

    Great review. And you pronounced Petit correctly, one of the few. Funny thing up here in Canada: the Petit is the same price as the Kakuno and the preppy. It is a weird place. I say our motto should be "Canada: "C'est/it's Bizarre". Bilingual and says it all. ;) thanks for the great review, I know this is super old, but still relevant.

    I enjoy my pilot petit1 but one with even better value is my GAMA pocket pen which is an eyedropper pen!

    I have eyedropper converted the Kaweco by adding some silicone grease to the threads about a year ago and have not had any problems with leaks. It holds a lot of ink when converted. I take either it or the Pilot Petit with me everywhere. The Petit is my favorite writer of the two and for less than $4, can’t be beat, but I also enjoy using the Kaweco. I always refill my Petit cartridge by using a syringe and needle, so I can put any ink I have in it and save money at the same time. I have had people noticed them both and give positive comments too, for whatever that’s worth. Every fountain pen user should have one or both to use as an easy to carry, good writing pen.

    Got my Kaweco Ice Sport a couple days ago and was quite disappointed in its general external cheesiness. Plastic seems cheap, way cheaper than a similarly priced TWSBI Eco, for example. However the nib made up for everything, being the only affordable, juicy double broad I could find. Others have complained about baby's bottom, but on drawing paper I have had zero problems with this wonderful little cheesy pen. Yes, I immediately eye droppered it.

    got to get me a pilot petit love the look of it as for eyedropping it clean fill it with water and blow thru the nib end ? i don't have the kaweko as i think it's overpriced ,i do have a wingsung 3007 copy which performs well at its price but my goto pocket pen is the ohto tasche its alloy and very robust and cost les than £10

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  4 роки тому +2

      I was just looking at the Ohto a few days ago, and it looks like a very good alternative to these two. I agree at this point that Kaweco's price is too high, I don't know why it has nearly doubled over the past few years. It seems the price is up $5 most stores I shop online just since January.

    In UK that Pilot seems to be being sold under the PaperMate brand and sold in packs of 3 or 5 really cheap on Amazon. Are the 2 companies related? These look identical with the Pilot.

      Different company. I have both. They are both good but the Petit posts more surely.

    Have you tried the Pilot Plumix line of pens. The cap is only for the section top and screws on tight. FYI anything above a fine and extra fine is a stub. These nibs can be placed into a Metropolitan body as the stubs are better than that line of pens. Come to think of it the regular metro nib can go into a Plumix body to make it a medium travel pen...but that’s three times the cost in the opposite direction. If you like stubs or SUPER fine and extra fine small pocket pen, look no further. A unique shape too.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  4 роки тому

      I do have the Plumix. In my review I had a few things I didn't like about the stub, BUT I later did a little refining on the nib, and now I really like it. I do use it as a pocket pen, of sorts.

    • @artxruss
      @artxruss 4 роки тому

      JG3 Reviews Another interesting fact about the Plumix line is the inability to order the B or BB (stubs) to an American address. Amazon.fr was able to ship here by labeling them as rollerball pens.

    Moonman 80 mini or Moonman Wancai mini?

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  3 роки тому

      Good question. I have the 80 mini and really like it, but I haven't tried the Wancai. I'd sworn off eye-droppers for a while, but have recently gotten a few that turned out quite well.
