    I like your studio audience of song birds. Very nice pattern and design, plus I like the ink.

    Interesting resin. The green one reminds me of glutinous rice snacks.

    Thanks, Chris! I like the finishes a lot, especially the blue though the lighting might favor the blue a bit more. The hatch pattern
    is really cool, nice alternative to swirls, cracked ice, etc. The clean cylinder look is cool, too, even though no posting threads.
    Oh well, a win for small hands, ok.

    Nice resin patterns. And of course one of my favorite inks.

    Thanks. I'm all over that blue pen. I have yet to try a glass nib. I'm new to fountain and dip pens. I'm new to drawing. I do my writing on a computer. Growing up in the 70s as a lefty was still a pain in the butt. They didn't burn you at the stake, but it felt like it, as an insecure kid. They tried to teach you to write so people could read it, but they had no training. We were usually just seen as a minor irritant to be ignored. But my handwriting was so bad, they put me in a special class. Which was fun, because the teacher was a floater, and always came to get you and embarrass you in the middle of class. And he would announce that it was : "Time for you SPECIAL class" and all the jerks would giggle.
    Now! Thanks to youtube, and a TBI I am drawing for the first time in my life, and I came out of the gate doing shockingly well. I have also resolved to learn cursive again. Maybe even calligraphy. I'll be illuminating and transcribing manuscripts before you know it. I'm leaving this long, unwieldy comment for a different reason though.
    When you were doing the handwriting samples with the glass nib, and wrote fast, I immediately thought: Oh! If you move quickly, you get a consistent, light colored line, whereas with metal nibs, in my brief experience, the line gets more fine, the faster and lighter you move, but pretty much stays as dark.
    You did a service for my visual artist side. I'm buying that blue pen, okay, I'm buying four different colors, even though these don't post. In order to not lose the cap, which I will do, I have a device in mind.. After a month or so making art, I've already gotten into the habit of saving saving sigma micron caps when the pen goes dry. I have a little box of them already Otherwise, I'd be screwed... so I'm going to get some polymer clay and sculpt a hand, pointing up (for gravity's sake) so I can put my un-postable caps on it.
    Thank you so much. This is the first thing I saw on youtube today. Nice to being inspired to create, before your first cup of coffee.

    I like the blue resin version. For the glass nib it is not for me. I probably would ruin the tip. Also, i am not a fan of dipping the nib, except for starting some of my pens.
    Fabulous price, though.
    Great review.

    Venetians that invented the glass nibs made them to work with the heavily pigmented and saturated medieval inks, so the very saturated Noodler's inks work well with them. On the other hand other modern inks that flow really well can't hold on to the glass folds, so they don't work nearly as well. And they work well with inks too thick for fountain pens. And all glass dip pens can even work with paints that need solvent for cleaning, as glass is resistant to just about all of those, so you can use things that will kill fountain pens. Dedicated glass pen is better for that than this, as here you can't get the solvent on the pen body or the nib collar/unit which are plastic/resin and will dissolve in most solvents.

    Hey Chris I had a question. I have an opus 88 with a #6 nib that I would like to put on my C1. They both have housings on the nibs. They are different housing, but I thought maybe I could pull the nibs out and change the housings.. when I tried to get the nib out of the c1, the housing pulled out with out me unscrewing it..I don’t want to force the nib out.. I was wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks. You have great videos and I usually end up ordering pens.. Eileen

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  3 роки тому +1

      Was the C1 nib assemble loose or do the threads strip? You should be able to pull out nib. Need grippers & soak nib in water & soap before pulling. While pulling twist a little.

    Lovely looking pen, strange to see a Moonnman pen being sold with a Delike branded nib.

  • @meh8982

    This pen has been around for a while - I have one I got as a gift two years ago, and I've been seeing it around longer than that. Only recently has it been sold as a Moonman. Earlier, it didn't list any brand. What is the relationship between Moonman and Delike anyway? A lot of pens now say "Moonman-Delike." Or are the sellers just listing a lot of things as Moonman even when they clearly aren't?
    That blue resin is beautiful - I had to buy a PenBBS 355 in the same colour "Batik" because I love it so much! They have it in a darker shade now similar to the little pen.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  3 роки тому +2

      I can't speculate on Moonman vs.Delike. My theory is that pen makers do not own manufacturing. So factories sell any pen to anyone. Thanks for watching.

    Such coincidence. I bought this pen just last month. I like heavier metal pens, so these acrylic pens felt cheap and unsubstantial to me. But I wanted a glass dip pen with a cap to test my ink with. Normal glass dip pens gives me OCD about tips breaking or chipping. This Moonman fit my requirement exactly.
    The Chinese distributor I bought from advertised the N6 as a glass dip pen with a free interchangeable fountain pen nib of which I wasn't given a choice of nib type. It was a pleasant surprise that I was sent a delike "small bent nib". It was the only delike nib I had yet to own. I also ordered an additional glass nib for around $1 USD.
    If I had known this pen used delike compatible glass nibs, I would have just get replacement glass dip nibs for $1 each and buy another delike alpha or element in different colour from the ones that I own. Instead of getting this acrylic pen set for $10.

    I bought one hoping that it would feed the glass nib. So, for me, it was a disappointment. Do you know where I could acquire a glass nib fed pen?

      Look up wancher shizuku glass. Unfortunately its patented so if you don't like the aesthetics you have to wait for them to (maybe) release a new pen with the mechanism.

      @martinlebl631 3 роки тому +1

      @@greggregson1365 There was another pen, but it was a one person pen company, and they aren't around anymore. Otherwise glass nibs tend to be dip only. At least with a cap this is less fragile than all glass pen if you do drop them often.

      @martinlebl631 3 роки тому +1

      @@greggregson1365 I would love to have a non-dip glass nib pen, but the Wancher one is somewhat pricey, and really the only extant option. As is I only use my glass pen occasionally, as using dip pen isn't great in many situation, and there is always the option of big mess if you are not careful with your ink bottle. :)

    There is also moonman branded nib version of this, but packaging different (not plastic), also patterns are different.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  2 роки тому +2

      Looks & feels like glass. I use it for my ink cards. Works as well as any glass pens I have. Why do you think the nib is made of plastic?

    • @Michelt007
      @Michelt007 2 роки тому

      @@chrisrap52 On receiving it, I had doubts about the pen being made of some kind of plastic. Then I read somewhere that it is actually acrylic. It is not necessarily bad, but I am curious about the properties of an acrylic versus a glass nib. I ordered a full glass dip pen and will compare the two. I must say that I am happy with the nib of this pen.

      There is no pocket pen standard. For me it's design, size & no clip. What do you consider a Pocket pen?

    • @ichirofakename
      @ichirofakename 3 роки тому +1

      @@chrisrap52 A long cap and a short barrel, so the pen is very short when capped and adequately long when posted. Posting is required for the pen to be truly usable. My two are a PenBBS 471 and a Pilot Elite. Others I'd like to have include the Schon DSGN and the Kaweco Lilliput. So for me I guess a clip is not disqualifying. Do you agree, or have other ideas? Since I never put pens in my pockets, this is merely an academic issue for me. I tend to find them well designed and attractive.

    • @archivist17
      @archivist17 3 роки тому +1

      My personal definition is less than 120mm capped, regardless of posted length, clip etc. Anything more complicated causes problems, though I accept there are anomalies with my criterion. Still, works for me, and that's fine!

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  3 роки тому +2

      The Pilot Elite & Platinums are a perfect design. I'm not a poster so that is not critical for me. When I do carry a Pocket pen I don't want a clip.
