    There are magical moments in life when you get the opportunity to taste an extremely rare and expensive whisky (or wine) that are worth the money just for its historical significance. Even if there are better bottles for far less money, its the story you're buying and tasting not just the whisky. Thanks for sharing! 🥃

    Man you making us so jealous, and we all are happy for you, unique unicorn whatever you want to call it. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to try it. If I ever have an opportunity to try it for a price like $100 pounds euros there is no question I will and I think everybody else too. Thank you for the video. We all have it for you. Cheers!

    Looks fantastic Mac! I am a little bit envious. I will be having something almost as rare tonight. A peated Glenfarclas. Also about 100 GBP......for a bottle 😃

    Wowwwww! An absolute unicorn Japanese whisky! Can’t believe you got the chance to try that at that price - money very well spent from the sounds of things. In the glass it looks exceptionally dark and decadent and your tasting notes reflect what a beautiful dram it must be! Very jealous haha.

      Thank you for commenting Roy! It truly is a unicorn whisky, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to taste it. The colour and depth of flavour are indeed exceptional-definitely a dram worth every penny. Glad you enjoyed the video, and hopefully, you’ll get to experience it yourself one day! Cheers! 🤓🥃

    Wow, just wow Mac! I'm not a massive sherried whisky fan but I am intrigued in trying this and for what it is the 100pound for that pour sounds like a bargain. Cheers and see you in September 🥃

    Great review, Mac ! And great infos about the distillery as well...I haven't tried that one but a couple of others from the "Noh" series, others from No1 Drinks & even 3 or 4 official ones (mostly more than a decade ago, mind you), and my tasting records mention 42 expressions tasted...(partly thanks to some collectors/friends. I'm lucky enough to have a bit left of that "Pure Malt" 12 yo (said not to be entirely Japanese, mind you) when it was sold at a ridiculous price here & also some of the 22 yo SC vintage 1986 (for La MdW/France) I bought also a while ago (couldn't buy it now, even try it in La Maison du Whisky bar in Paris, the "Golden Promise", too expensive). The ones I tried from the "Noh" range are not necessarily always my favorite profile wise (as they often had a balance issue imho, but when they were great, they were quite something) but their packaging yes, also because i'm fond of Noh theater & music, for instance. For the record there have also been some Bourbon casks only releases (contrarily to what the "new" Karuizawa distillery website says, and a different project for me), having tried several of them in some memorable evenings I'll get back too soon on my channel...anyway glad you tried one of those unicorms ! Kanpaï ! 🥃👍

    • @KanpaiPlanet
      @KanpaiPlanet  Місяць тому +2

      Thanks Greg! That is exactly why I said "predominately" Sherry Casks... for example, #8552 and #8529 were Borbon Cask matured Noh Series bottlings. And yes... despite the hype, not all of them are phenomenal liquid, but this one was. Kanpai! 🤓🥃

    • @GregsWhiskyGuide
      @GregsWhiskyGuide Місяць тому +1

      @@KanpaiPlanet yep sorry missed when you said "predominantly"..but I was referring to the "new" Karuizawa project, surfing on the old one fame...Did you had the opportunity to try some of the "regular" more discrete SC labels for UK & France ? Some were phenomenal...if not we're at least will sort this out with my own bottle of one of them if it happens you visit Paris again with a lighter schedule...

    • @KanpaiPlanet
      @KanpaiPlanet  Місяць тому +2

      I have tried a number of the other non-Noh Single Casks. Some are true gems. Would love to try yours at some point!
      And yes, you are correct. A lot of misinformation out there by people hwo should know better!

    Or if you know your way around the speakeasy whisky bars in deep Tokyo you'll find a couple of bottles open for tasting. If you know you know. A clue... seek the white feather of the stork.

      Kirin didn't think it was worth keeping around. They wanted the wine business. Impossible to conceive now...
