    I've been doing this standing for a bit, and I gotta say, I think it's got insane potential for combat sports training. Probably general sports training really, but specifically the standing version with a more upright posture and an active snap back down into the bottom position simultaneously trains the kind of rotation needed for punching and for many kinds of throws.
    Of course if you're just training for *any* kind of rotational movement and not specifically those, I could definitely see the kneeling version suiting many people better. And having the advantage of engaging the core more by taking almost any residual leg drive out of the equation.

    Thanks for making this video, because I just got to day 2 of Masters 45 and had to look up a kettlebell uppercut. Btw I got my knee surgery and I am almost back to my old self.

    I love kettlebells but hate watching most people do them in the gym. Most people don’t know to do basic swings.

    • @qp9259
      @qp9259 12 днів тому +1

      Tbf, I squatted up my swings for years when I was younger. Hinge movements in general give beginners a hard time.

    My coach often programs these, but we use a cable with a rope attachment. Torches the core and the shoulders, for me! Similar idea, Brian?

    Is this motion the exact same for a Weighted Mace uppercut? Forehand or backhand?

    Think this will help reduce back pain/stiffness? Been reading that back pain is mainly core/spinal instability, so I've been looking for core routines/movements.

      I think this will give you a hernia.

    • @falkvambrie103
      @falkvambrie103 7 місяців тому +1

      You should look into heavy club training.
      It is essentially dynamic stability exercise, much less risky than ballistic movement.
      I would tend to agree that if you have an acute problem, you should not start with movements like the one Brian is demonstrating here!
      However, once you have eliminated pain (rehab) and bulletproofed your spine, hips, shoulders (prehab), you may want to come back to explosive rotational work.
      Hope this helps! :)
      Mark Wildman YT channel is the best place to start, in my opinion.
