Story wise, it makes sense to have Terminator and Robocop in Mortal Kombat 11 because they are dealing with time travel and alternate timelines.
Terminator is an android, RoboCop is a cyborg.
Wat did u think of the robocop vs terminator epic rap battle?
The stop motion endoskeleton at the end of T1 is far creepier than any cgi could ever be. Plus the opening battle of T2 still looks fantastic.
Stop motion makes robots move robotically, cgi makes them move like ninjas.
Yeah whatever filter Danny added made the effect look far worse than the original source footage, FYI to anyone that's not seen the movie.
Love the stop motion
Practical effects are a lost art... Needs to be made the standard again, CGI no matter how great it looks just doesn't age well.
@@J0SHUAKANE This is the perfect comment! 👍
Sorry my concentration was thrown off when I saw Dark Fate and heard the words "Surprisingly very good. " To each his own, but my god man! That's the kind of statement that makes someone choke on their cereal.
5:11 robocop has aged fine.... still a great movie watch it all the time...
Me too I watch it atleast twice a year every year I got the 4k unrated version and it has no business looking as good as it does it never looked like that in the movie theaters
Truly a masterpiece.
Well the real question is, is it a single Terminator vs Robocop, or is it Skynet vs Robocop?
A standard mass produced t-800 wouldn't stand a chance, no matter how many get sent back in time. Robocop has shrugged off things that would have fried a t-800.
A t-1000 however, that's a different story.
Naaah, mate. Terminator would pap RoboCop. RoboCop can't even walk at a fast pace. I'll see you at the bottom of the football pitch if you disagree lol.
@@garethjohnstone8662 Well Robocop benched an industrial hydraulic press machine, and the T-800 was famously crushed by the very same machine.
Also Robocop gets a jetpack at one point.
@@SSmotzer That same press could crush RoboCo-op too! I can bench press a good 140kg, but drop that on my chest or head and it's good night Vienna. Terminator, all day baby.
I'm honestly surprised they haven't actually made a Robocop vs Terminator film , something similar to what they did with Alien vs Predator.
Different rights holders and quite likely each holder would have wanted their IP to win and rights switched around.
AvP were easier to do seeing both frachises are owned by Fox.
Its far easier to do comics/games and companies can just buy a license and movie companies dont care as much compared to movies.
I could see it now
No thanks. The AVP movies were huge piles of shit compared to the source material they came from.
I'll settle for a modern game, thank you very much.
... One without loot boxes and DLC's.... Insanity I know! .. But I wanna believe.
Considering how the recent films of each series has been received...it might not be coming anytime soon.
Man the sega genesis one was the shit, such an underated game, and one of my favorites of all time.
@bigevilworldwide1 yea the snes one sucked, i remember playing it at a freinds house and hating it.
>dark fate is very good
You now have horrific taste and can never be trusted
No recognition of Robocop 2 being good is a worse offence. Dark Fate is ok, even if ok is not good enough to stand with the supreme first 2 movies.
Not gonna lie It was hard to not turn it off after you called t3 and dark fate good and surprisingly good.
Yep.
@@claudiodiaz9752 i know right but different strokes for different folks
Agreed but maybe he watched DF with 40 oz of rum in his system idk...
I also left a comment about that,I had to rewind the video to make sure I heard him correctly
T3 wasn't bad the other sequels after it tho oh my
You can’t be serious saying that Terminator “Daft Fake” was “surprisingly good”?! I think what you meant to say was “Not surprisingly shithouse”. 🙄
The only thing good about that movie is the viciousness of the terminator. You really get the sense that if someone sent that machine after you you olwould have 0 chance.
Pardon! Dark Fate, good? I think that's the first time those words have ever been put together. I think the isolation is getting to you.
I liked it damn it.
@@BigEOT3 My condolences for the people that watch movies with you.
What an arrow to the heart that film was 😔 they had the perfect recipe for a good film. Well, apart from Tim Miller.
I've been reading the official T2 novels, and they're great.
@@BigEOT3 Dark fate makes the first two films utterly redundant by killing off John Connor, it's a shame of a film that jumps all over the place while riding current Hollywood politics, hence the killing of JC.
@@smashingpumpkin1986 I agree it could have been so much more.
I love this crossover! (And crossovers in general.)
SGR is entitled to his opinion of course about Dark Fate. (Hated it TBH.)
I thought it was alright, definitely better than Terminator: Genisys
Was so controversial that he actually made a bit of a follow-up video on that take.
Thank you so much for covering this game!! This was one of the first videogames i ever played as a kid when i got Sega Genesis for Christmas. This along with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (i think) and one of the Mortal Kombat games.
Still shocked my parents gave me MK as a kid. I don't think they really paid much attention to ratings. lol
Robocop vs Terminator on the Genesis is a prime reason I would prefer the Genesis over the SNES
You really gotta have both.
It is as even as tie as could possibly be.
Genesis does what Nintendon't!!!!!!!!
@@travismcdowell8352 As Mario once told a blue bomber "Why don't you run with Sega, and be another failure"
Never played that version I played the Master System version
saying dark fate was surprisingly very good, has to be you trolling for comments ...
Not really, I thought it was very enjoyable and came out of the theatre surprised to see all of the internet up in arms about how "bad" it was. It seemed like typical Internet bandwagoning to me.
If I were to have seen the comments before going in, I would also have been surprised at how good it was, like I was with the Harley Quinn movie. Perhaps movies with "girl power" messages in are now autobad according to the Internet, I dunno.
@@jakerockznoodles Sure... But if there's anything to understand from most of the failed film franchise revivals (i.e. Predator 2018, Alien Covenant, Terminator Dark Fate, etc.) is that they pander too much to the original successful films and most of the time don't understand what made them good in the first place, like having a good story with themes. And they copy and paste it in an attempt to nostalgia bait, I'm guessing because they can't think of anything innovative or new in fear of losing the attention of old fans. But like I said before, they don't even know what made those films memorable to begin with, and can't create anything new and appealing while building off from what was previously established. The only films that did it right were probably Mad Max Fury Road and maybe Dredd and some few others but I can't quite remember.
bigevilworldwide1 Agree, Dark Fate wasn’t great but entertaining enough. Genisys was FAR worse, so many terrible decisions.
19:25
Bruh this reminds me, seeing Batman team up or have a rivalry with RoboCop in a comic would be dope as Hell.
ive seen lots of terminators die, i have never seen robocop die. justice always wins.
Regular t 800 can't handle robot cop
I mean, clearly Murphy would win but he's died at least 5 times as Robocop so any superfan would know he's died a few times and needed OCP to get him back in the game.
Robocop vs Terminator is one of my favourite Mega Drive games
Totally nerded out at the snippet of Tommy Tallarico's great Sega CD Terminator soundtrack early in the episode. Thanks for this one. I need to go check out the comic series now.
Robocop vs. the Arachnids from Starship Troopers. That's one crossover that every Paul Verhoeven fan would love to see.
Nah, Robocop vs Showgirls....
@@gibbie80s61 lmao
You thought Dark Fate was very good?? Dude, no.
Dark Fate was surprisingly good? Dark fate? Are you okay?
There is nothing wrong with Dark Fate its not perfect but it's still good
It's good. Just follows the same beats of the previous movies too much
@@lovescarguitar
I don't know how they are going to make Robocop vs The Terminator movie or new game work
Will they include Legion's machines?
Dark Fate very good? WTF?
Remember the Connor's mean nothing in new Terminator so all the all movies are void, the future is a 4 foot mexican teenage girl!
Always love getting a slopes game room notification!
GOD Iove your voice haha, literately the most enthusiastic guy on here!
Except he can't pronounce th sounds.
@@JB_inks Eh, who cares? Jonathan Ross can't say his own name properly and there are many who like him. Loads of people these days don't pronounce the "th" and it's usually an accent thing. No big deal. 👌
FANK THUCK YOU ARE HERE TO HELP :P
It's fione... i got a weird accent. much love buddy
17:38 Somebody got a message
Haven't seen one of these in a while so glad your still doing History and the games.
Great stuff... now.. up to the loft to look for my robocop vs terminator comic :p
Your tent has a loft????

Another great one my guy! The potential for a robocop vs terminator game/movie today is so incredible! I hope we can see more of that one day.
Great video man! really enjoyed it, those two franchises were a huge part of my youth. I'd love to see a straight up action movie made like this now!
Wow I hadn’t thought about this series in ages, good video
Wasn't expecting this one, cheers!
This was a nice surprise. Im glad you did it.
I love these videos thanks slopes
Great content as always. You could talk about anything and make it sound interesting.
I love this series, you do great longer form videos.
Superb video again 👏👏👏 your a legend this was great along with all the other vids
Cheers Timmy :D
“Surprisingly very good!” - Wokes Gameroom.
The ONLY FIGHT that has never been translated into theaters...yet, right ? Still it was great video on one of the few franchise versus fights in Sci-fi history that concerns robotics and AI.
A most fun series of games. Comprehensive history as well Dan. Thanks! 😊

I use to love Linkara, but now I feel like he’s a relic of early UA-cam days
@@leonardohenriquez7814 He's still just as awesome today, unlike most former Channel Awesome personalities
I’ll forgive the T3/T:DF being good since you put the Amstrad Robocop music in.
I still have this game for my sega
Rather than remake, I would like to see new Robocop movie (starring Peter Weller), set in distant future where everybody he knew was gone, but he's still doing his job in decaying Detroit.
I rented a Sega CD and genesis and this game when I was a teen. I was in amazement. It was a bad ass experience.
I had a dodgy Game Gear directional pad and whilst playing RC vs. Term on the Game Gear I found a hidden level select room in one of the early levels.
You are missing one unofficial cross over.... Broforce has both characters and more in it :) It's a fun game.
the snes one cracked me up because i was playing in front of my mom, and she suddenly said "....why are all the bad guys women?" what could i say rofl i hadn't noticed, then i couldn't unsee it
Yes, please make a separate video on which movie in the Terminator is better. And while you're at it, do the same for RoboCop.
Another great vid Dan. Would love to see you do one on the 90's Arcade Racer Kickstarter debacle. Those pricks still owe me 20 quid.
AWESOME STUFF DAN!!!!!
Let me get this straight. Snes' Robocop v Terminator even had a first person level on Skynet perimeter. Mode 7 with multiple sections, fake contrast and light, good sound and music. It had the COMIC BOOK story between missions. Not to mention awesome cartridge box design.
Genesis was arcadey and fun but lacks the COMIC BOOK and has ugly fart music, synthesized sound effects, bitmaps and limited sprite animations... so it is better??? It can't be bad, but you can't say it ''wins''.
How it can be better? Because Genesis was less expensive? Biased review. Bias that still happens right here on 2020. The Snes had that heavy gameplay because it wasn't trying to be arcadey. Prove it yourself by messing with terminators in the present and check how deep is the AI. The team behind did a crazy job ahead of their time.
If you deny graphic superiority, Snes still had the freagging comics in the story which is the point of this thing. The fact you neglect that very fact shows pure Sega blind bias and comments are totally fanboyistic. Wtf happened to facts anyway? Flat earthers everywhere.
If you mentioned this, apologies, but I didn't notice it myself. There's a little bit of trivia that most people skip over related to the first version of the Robocop script: It was being written as a Judge Dredd movie, which predates the travesty that was the Stallone version. They didn't get the rights obviously, and Robocop was the end result.
Great stuff Slope. I didn't get into Robocop and am only familiar with Terminator 1/2, so it's nice to have a small history of both. I think maybe you were recording stereo mix by accident as well? 🤣 I heard a couple of notification sounds and had to look for messages. Or maybe it's just me? Example: 17:37
Hahahaha that's hilarious. I totally thought I got them all hahaha
Ha! I was just playing this game today
Great channel and I’ve got more videos to watch
See you next game
Probably the best Versus ever conceived, and that MK11 footage is badass. I've seen most of the Terminator films, though haven't really bothered since Salvation. Only seen Robocop 1 and am somewhat curious about 2. 3? Not so much.
3 is good for a watch once in a blue moon. As Slopes pointed out, its easily the weakest of the three. But it is good to watch for rounding off the trilogy.
@@comettamer Interesting. I might consider it more now, thanks.
@@Iceferno Go for it. It's the weakest of an overall amazing trilogy.
You should check out 2, it's a shift in tone but still captures most of what make Robocop cool, him stopping crime in spectacular fashion in a gritty environment, some campiness, and robot stuff. I think the gore is gone though.
Also, if you're a fighting game fan there's a guy in one scene that looks 1:1 like Alex from SF3 Third Strike that makes you think one of the devs saw this movie
I find it funny, most people liked RoboCop 2 and shit all over 3. I thought Robocop 3 was better than Robocop 2. Yeah i get it Tom Weller is not in the third one but that never bothered me really. Never understood the distain people have for the third one
Every bit as entertaining as a vid about these characters should be.
Robocop 2 is what it is.
And that's one of the best film sequels of all time.
You lost me when you called dark fate verry Good.. Wtf?
@bigevilworldwide1 it's teerable regardles if it had women in leads or not, they should just quit making shitty movies and ruining the lagacy of the franchise
I still have my copy of this brutal game
At one point I wish this became a movie! That would have been made me such a happy person!
Great vid. What is that rock music from in the intro?? sooo familiar...
Edit: I think I remember now I think it is actually from The Terminator Sega CD game.. I knew I knew it from somewhere
Oh wow. The goosebumps when the Speccy Robocop title tune came on. 👌
This is the VS movie I wanted not the other movies
There is also Terminator/Robocop: Kill Human 2011 four issue comic series from Dynamite Entertainment. ( I know this video is more focused on video games but comic book enthusiasts and fans of both properties might want to know.)
YEAH fantastic video sir! I always liked the RED carts!
The Sega Master System version wasn't all too bad for an 8-bit port of the Mega Drive version. The weaponry wasn't as diverse but the level design matched the 16-bit version's layout down to the hidden levels including the stage select one.
Both the SNES and MD versions suffered from having huge (admittedly impressive-looking) characters, making dodging things quite difficult.
In many ways the SMS version plays better with its somewhat zoomed-out view, while still looking great! Just a shame it suffers heavily from slowdown and sprites disappearing.
The soundtrack, with the exception of the new title/stage1 theme, was really butchered too -- they should have remade the entirety of it.
That Genesis/Megadrive game was one of my favorites growing up.
Robocop would win because he has a human brain and thinks like one so he would get crafty when fighting the terminater which thinks like a computer
Remember Terminator Vs RoboCop on the Mega drive. "Terminataaahhh" in the music lol.
What song is this at 3:20. Not sure what game I’m recognizing it from
In 5th grade I stayed overnight at my buddy’s home & his mom rented Robocop for us to watch. She thought it was a superhero movie. I’ll never forget seeing Murphy getting his hand blown off! I think my jaw dropped thru the floor lol. I was used to GI Joe, not that! It was the stuff of nightmares. We watched the rest of the movie scared out of our little minds…whenever it’s on I think about the first time seeing a movie like that
This series is so awesome RoboCop vs Terminator. He said he'll be back
>Dark Fate
>Surprisingly very good
I paused the video just to check the comments after he said this.
Frank Miller's Robocop stuff really was great. His influence is why I liked the sequels too.
I actually would really like to see a video where you compare the Terminator movies
Holy shit that MK robocop vs terminator was amazing.
Besides a couple of goofy effects, what has "aged" about either of these films?
The Terminator featured the already popular Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1984?
He was an unknown.
He was pretty well known for his bodybuilding achievements and Conan: The Barbarian.
Kind of funny to me "Most know it from the game." but for me it was from all the excellent Dark Horse comics of both licenses, the game was just a nice cherry on top. ;)
Yes dan! We're terminator bros. If people dont like it we can beat em up at lunch time.
I used to play the Genesis game sooo much but I am pretty sure I sucked at it because I remember cheating with unlimited health and playing it all the way through.
I also had comics. Wish we would have got as a movie instead of the other post T2 sequels we got
Which game did that chiptune version of the Terminator theme at the beginning of the video come from? It sounded really cool.
Amstrad.
@@ScottWozniak Thanks👍
You got a what's up message middle of the video lol
Can you look at the history of Mega Man🤖
I'm surprised you didn't talk about the plastic casing the US SNES version was released with.
Thank you for this video you Rock keep up the good work also can you please make a complete Medal of Honor , Age of Empire , Blitzkrieg complete history and keep playing yakuza 0 I really like your live stream of yakuza 0.
17:15 easter egg in the video, he said "ideas" when the screen said "issues". Yes, I pay that much attention to your videos.
I know the book adaptation of Robocop claims it is set in 2043, but it feels so much like the 80s, I can't disconnect Robocop with 80s computer technology. And that shit was pretty flimsy. While Terminator somehow maganges to feel very current with robot technology making strides (literally) lately. So I guess Robocop VS Terminator feels like C64 against PS5 to me. The PS5 would win.
I think they should do an animated movie with Peter weller voicing robocop obviously & Arnold Schwarzenegger voicing the terminator I think that could work
I enjoyed playing the original Mega Drive version, and I enjoyed seeing some of MK 11: Aftermath where Robocop and The Terminator duked it out. Loved it.
No mention of the surprisingly interesting The Sarah Connor Chronicles?
Love this "Yu-chube chunnel"
AWESOME DAN ✊✊✊🔥🔥🔥!!!
Terminator 3 was a literal Looney Tunes cartoon, compared to the first two Terminator movies.
Hey Slopes if you like the Robocop vs Terminator comic book mini series on Dark Horse then you should check out Aliens vs Predator vs Terminator comic book mini series also on Dark Horse !
You should do a History & Games Video on the Shrek Franchise
Didn't even know there was a RoboCop TV show.
Dark Horse comics were much closer to the original two film's tone but the Marvel run was still pretty good imo, not as explicit at times but they had some dark stories too like people being kidnapped and processed into new Robocops in one story.
Hah I was just revisiting the Now Comics Terminator comics and they are extremely goofy, some of the schlockiest dialog you'll ever read. ^_^
