Raul julia made this movie before he died because he knew it would make his kids super happy since they loved the game. What a great guy. There's a great video about it here on UA-cam
I love the way Raul Julia delievers his lines. Because for as scenery-chewing and wild as he can get, with lines like the "It was Tuesday" line, he's SO UNDERSTATED. He's not telling her that to insult her, he's telling her that because he's trying to make her see his perspective on why he doesn't remember killing her father. He's TRYING to be GENUINE and that's SO MUCH FREAKIER than him being cruel.
Also Julia himself studied a lot of dictators to get a feel for the role so when he hams it up he’s channeling real life dictators from their speeches and that’s the great thing the pax bisonica speech shows us that Bison doesn't see himself as a villain, in his mind he only wishes to subjugate the world in order to bring a new era of man to the world, and to unite it and push it to a glorious new future, he’s totally insane but that level of showing how he views himself is in every line from Julia in how he plays the character.
Interesting Fact: The actor who plays "Ken" in the scene from City Hunter (Gary Daniels) played Kenshiro in the live action movie of "Fist Of The North Star". Despite not being a critical success, Gary loved the role so much he named his son Kenshiro.
Gary is a great guy, one of the UK's best action stars (despite never making it big). His highlight has definitely been fighting JC but he was a professional kickboxer before entering the film industry and he was pretty successful.

You don't know what you are talking about. >_> 1980s remakes were about improving originals, unlike 2010s which seems to be about trashing the originals.
One of the best childhood memories I have is watching this movie in a theater in company of my father, who never previously saw or heard anything street fighter related. His reactions (laughs, jokes) were priceless. Awesome movie as I remember it, Not sure if it has aged well.
Sorry to bother you, but this is probably some of the best reviews of nostalgic media I've seen ever. Most people piss on shit and bitch about it in rational hindsight but it's so nice to see people review stuff from a place of genuine love. Also your message of "you're allowed to like a movie even if its bad or stupid" is probably the best thing i've heard this year. Thank you.
When this movie came out in theaters, me and my friends would laugh that Damian Chapa, the actor who played Ken, also played Miklo, the white cholo in Blood in, Blood out: Bound by honor! "Orale! Choryuken, man!"
Damian Chapa was also in Under Seige (1992), as Tackman, the sailor who worked in the laundry room of the battleship and who Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal) had to conivince to pick up a gun and help him. " When the Gulf War was going on, I was Ironing."
I used to love street fighter , and I was born in Cuba , there isn’t much television like there is in the west , but I remember them announcing this movie and I was shocked , saw it was at 4, so I stayed all night waiting , little did I know , it was at 4pm 😂😂, never got to watch it till I got older , nonetheless , a memory I’ll never forget
Yeah that was awesome that scene got me into KMFDMs music too. Also the soundtrack was pretty good it had Silverchair and stuff. I thought the entire thing was pretty good. When Ken gets crippled or something and goes thorugh being completely powerless, that was all pretty intense.
I still forget Korn is also on the soundtrack. I'm to this day always shocked after the credit scene and you start hearing 'Blind',gets you more pumped lol. I love the movie, every scene was intense. Even the secrets, like Akuma being in the background of one of the scenes.
mark mcghee I only noticed that after I watched the movie again when I was bit older, but still, Akuma in the background is one the best easter eggs there is.
I totally love Raul Julia. He was an amazing Gomez in the Addams Family movies, and his depiction of Bison in this movie was totally spot on with the oldschool, skinnier Bison that the game started with before he got super jacked. And yes, his villain monologues, especially that Tuesday one, were such great speeches. He was basically the epitome of an 80's super villain.
This rental review series is really growing on me. It's 1/3 entertainment but 2/3 nostalgia. Remembering the time I saw Street fighter the movie at the cinemas brings up a flood of other fond memories around that time. I could literally both laugh and cry watching this.
I’m sorry, I don’t remember any of it. For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life... but for me ... it was Tuesday.
I'm surprised and a little disappointed that James didn't mention the homage/nod to the classic Godzilla movies when Zangief and E. Honda were fighting and ended up totally wrecking the city model that Bison had created, as if the two of them were giant radioactive monsters hell-bent on destroying the city!
The same sort of thing happens in Robocop where Robocop fights the Robocop 2 aka Cain. I swear Cain’s robot body looks eerily like one the Yaegrs from Pacific Rim.
Not true. Not Raul Julia's last film. He did an HBO original film released the fall after Street Fighter back when an HBO original film was a kinda big deal.
The Toxic Avenger, Poltergeist, The Karate Kid Trilogy Airborne (1993), Gleaming The Cube, TMNT (Live-Action Trilogy), Flash Gordon, Encino Man, Howard The Duck, Police Academy, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead, The Beastmaster... This NEW segment could go on FOREVER!!!! Keep doing this
This movie was cheesy but did it's best to have the characters do their moves and wear their costumes. While Chun Li movie didn't have any of the costumes or moves making it just a generic action movie.
I absolutely LOVE these! Great chemistry between the hosts and I actually prefer James Rolfe over the AVGN. I hope this becomes a regular show and not something temporary
look up Australian Airforce Multicam some countries do use blue camo its just for decoration to tell the difference between branches or to cover up oil stains
You're not even going to talk about the fact Kylie Minogue was in the movie? I guess she's not as big in the States, but in the UK and Australia, especially in the 90's she was a huge pop star... And she still is!
Dhalsim was inspired by a movie: Master of the Flying Guillotine. It's from 1976 so the special effects are really bad, but as a fighting film, it inspired a lot of others of the genre.
The one scene that has burned a whole in my memory from this movie was the boat scene. His small single person stealth boat is bigger then the battleships. Remember laughing with my dad as a kid.
I love these Rental Review videos. I'd love to see some made of: Double Dragon the Movie, Super Mario Bros the Movie, Batman & Robin, or Suburban Commando.
I also un-ironically love this movie, and it gives me good feelings that Raul Julia took on the role for his kids. What a great dad. Also, i often quoted Guile's line: "I'm repo man, and you're outta business!" at my opponent when ever i grabbed the new pile while playing Crazy 8s.

1980s movies had the best montage, 1990s movies had the best original movie premise. 2000s movies had remakes. 2010s had reboots of remakes.
You dont know what you are talking about
One of the best movies from the 80s... is a remake... Scareface.. and it dosent stop there
You don't know what you are talking about. >_> 1980s remakes were about improving originals, unlike 2010s which seems to be about trashing the originals.
1980s movies were better than the crap movies we have today
@@hondamanvtec2894
other kickass remakes:

I have to admit, my favorite part of these are the intros and plugs. Please never stop.
1:22 I legit thought Chewie had just entered the "store"
One of the best childhood memories I have is watching this movie in a theater in company of my father, who never previously saw or heard anything street fighter related. His reactions (laughs, jokes) were priceless. Awesome movie as I remember it, Not sure if it has aged well.
RAUL JULIA at his finest...
No it wasn't. It was his worst. Most sad at all it was his last.
Of course!
Ya rising victor is right hes greag but he was so sickly at the time it was hard to make him look all buff like bison is
Adams Family
RisingVictor Agreed. M Bison is a menacing and relatively quiet character, not a goofy Batman villain. Terrible casting.
You and your teams editing shows how much passion you guys put in! Pure talent!
"I'm gonna get on my boat, and i'm going up *_Reever_* "
Sorry to bother you, but this is probably some of the best reviews of nostalgic media I've seen ever. Most people piss on shit and bitch about it in rational hindsight but it's so nice to see people review stuff from a place of genuine love.
Also your message of "you're allowed to like a movie even if its bad or stupid" is probably the best thing i've heard this year. Thank you.
I still watch this movie from time to time also I still have a sketch of the movie poster drawn by my mother back in 1999.
When this movie came out in theaters, me and my friends would laugh that Damian Chapa, the actor who played Ken, also played Miklo, the white cholo in Blood in, Blood out: Bound by honor! "Orale! Choryuken, man!"
Vatos locos!
VL CARNAL
Orale milkweed
Wtf i just noticed that
Damian Chapa was also in Under Seige (1992), as Tackman, the sailor who worked in the laundry room of the battleship and who Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal) had to conivince to pick up a gun and help him. " When the Gulf War was going on, I was Ironing."
The big problem is that their is no street fighter tournament
This is a war movie
To suggest that Street Fighter The Movie needs a tournament is to imply that Street Fighter The Movie requires fixing. It does not.
@D core If you truly believe that, then I pity you for how impossibly skewed your moviegoing standards are.
@D core Sorry dude, but I disagree. Uwe Boll has made much worse video game movies than Street Fighter. Although it was pretty bad
Gomez Addams as Gen. M Bison, AWESOME!
Street Fighter 2 The animated movie was awesome tho
Oh no , I didn't hear them mention it. I just heard them mention Alpha which was terrible lol
When she kicked Vega thru the brick wall, still my fav scene.
He delivered his lines with such bravado. Not over acting. Just spot on interpretation of what I thought bison would be like.
I’m loving this series
YES!!
Captain Michael J. Caboose It’s a really smart idea
Bearded Man Bear I know
This rental review series is really growing on me. It's 1/3 entertainment but 2/3 nostalgia. Remembering the time I saw Street fighter the movie at the cinemas brings up a flood of other fond memories around that time.
I could literally both laugh and cry watching this.
I love that ralphie May joined the group of reviewers
The best Street Fighter movie ever is "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994)"
Definitely better than this live action adaptation.
Yeah we all kinda thought about it after filming ended. There was a lot we missed mentioning honestly.
The same sort of thing happens in Robocop where Robocop fights the Robocop 2 aka Cain. I swear Cain’s robot body looks eerily like one the Yaegrs from Pacific Rim.
He probably hasn't notice everything in the movie compared to the others who have seen it thousands of times
Not true. Not Raul Julia's last film. He did an HBO original film released the fall after Street Fighter back when an HBO original film was a kinda big deal.
iirc it was his final theatrical film, though.
Such a cool effect for a transition at 1:03, I appreciate this kind of detail in editing.
I agree with James. Earnest Scared Stupid is a fabulous movie.
Why is this comment on the street fighter review?
N.D. Ammo 30:51
@@SatoshiKong oh. Thank you, confusing due to there being an Earnest episode and UA-cam always doing crazy shit.
I need that movie on dvd.
Damn straight, booger lips.
Even though Mortal Kombat did it better, this Street Fighter movie is better than any of the modern Bayformers and Bay-Turtles movies.
@@LadyCoyKoi absolutely correct!
6:11 James saying *“RYUU!!!!”* button.
It is extremely refreshing to find a kindred spirit when it comes to the Street Fighter movie. Thank you for this!
It truly is an unappreciated treasure.
I absolutely LOVE these! Great chemistry between the hosts and I actually prefer James Rolfe over the AVGN. I hope this becomes a regular show and not something temporary
look up Australian Airforce Multicam
some countries do use blue camo its just for decoration to tell the difference between branches or to cover up oil stains
US Navy has blue camo
@@Matt-md5yt it's being fazed out. Extremely unpopular, not to mention that particular uniform is very badly made and way too heavy.
Back in the day a lot of people thought Guile kinda resembled Van Damme.
...no
You're not even going to talk about the fact Kylie Minogue was in the movie?
I guess she's not as big in the States, but in the UK and Australia, especially in the 90's she was a huge pop star... And she still is!
Dhalsim was inspired by a movie: Master of the Flying Guillotine. It's from 1976 so the special effects are really bad, but as a fighting film, it inspired a lot of others of the genre.
Actually, he was inspired on the Zoom Punch from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
I watched this movie 4 times in the movies when it came out. I regret nothing 😎
I own a General M. Bison $100 bill from the film
WOAH WHAT?!?!
KIER-TOONS yep
JAIMACA HERE I COME!
Since every bison dollar is worth 5 British pounds, you actually have 500 pounds.
The one scene that has burned a whole in my memory from this movie was the boat scene. His small single person stealth boat is bigger then the battleships. Remember laughing with my dad as a kid.
I was one of those Timecop renters in 1995, I'm part of history
A whole new level of love and respect for James the offspring kicks when he's down
big trouble in little china.....
that just reminds me of Ranma 1/2 the movie.
I love these Rental Review videos. I'd love to see some made of: Double Dragon the Movie, Super Mario Bros the Movie, Batman & Robin, or Suburban Commando.
That Joker t-shirt is at maximum capacity.
It's a jokerfan279 shirt! It's based off me! And it's available now at spreadshirt and the screenwave media store.
As always, James, I appreciate your videos more than you can know. Thanks for keeping the content coming.
I get what he means. I have watched Christmas vacation since a kid and never get sick of it. It feels like home
I love that jean Claude was coked up smashing cammy
What a legend !
Did he smash cammy?

You should make a old school video game store commercial whit your collection.
I’m absolutely loving this new series. The casual, off the cuff conversations are super funny. Can’t wait for more!
listening to these guys is like exactly what it was like to be in the 80s and 90s... we were so excited about these things back then. it was awesome.. there was no internet, these movies and video games were everything.
