The reason why the SNES/Mega Drive version was extremely hard was because Disney didn’t like people renting games so they made it difficult so that people wouldn’t be able to finish it if they rented the game for like a week so that they would buy it to try to finish it.

Yeah, my biggest problem with "1 1/2" was that they made it impossible to place the Mr. Pig scene from the first movie. (Plus, it's rather unlikely that there was such a short timeframe of everything in the first movie leading up to Timon and Pumbaa finding Simba.)

I just played the Lion King for Sega yesterday. It's so hard and not that fun to play... BUT I love the controls for young Simba. That's what redeems the game for me - it's seriously fun to control him. He moves like an actual cat. I haven't found any other game with controls like that. Unfortunately adult Simba is clunky and I usually stop playing after I reach them.

I often wonder if older people that typically hated Disney musicals held appreciation for the Lion King because of their forgotten nostalgia for Kimba the White Lion. Speaking of, Kimba, otherwise known as Jungle Emperor Leo, makes appearances in many of Osamu Tezuka's other work, as well as the Game Boy Advance game Astro Boy: Omega Factor, which itself is based on Tezuka's most popular work. A possible complete history for itself is in order?

A Dev on the game said in an interview a short time ago Disney asked them to make it really hard really quick to get kids to buy it as paradoxical as that sounds. Really it was just to get kids who might rent the game to be more likely to buy it if it was too difficult to play in a single rental cycle.

I also remember playing the Lion King 2 game on PC at my grandma's house during the summer. My aunt bought it for me & my siblings. My sister would slam the keyboard if she didn't win, eventually breaking it (because the keys would make a funny sound every time someone typed.) Also, there were times when the game glitched & we'd get stuck on certain levels. Like the 1 where 1 of the cubs would go through a maze & try not to get caught by Timon on Pumba, & sometimes when this happened the animation of the character would continue - basically making it look like Timon or Pumba was stomping the lion cub into dust. It was kind of funny, except when the game stopped working. And all of this was going on on a desktop that still used AOL...

It was hard back then, and I remember all that lush animation sometimes made it difficult to catch or walk along platforms in places, but it was pretty enjoyable.
Agreed that it was a bit strange to have 'two games in one' but I figure it matched the time skip in the film. While I am a huge fan of the Timon and Pumbaa cartoon series, I have to admit, The Lion Guard cartoon is a better fit and more tonally suitable to be a follow up to the movie. Though I never really cared for them retconning the reason Scar wanted to take over Pride Rock. It's just hard to think about how while there was this epic power struggle between the bitter brother of a beloved king that involves Machiavellian schemes and murder, there's a big red nosed doofus named Congo Quint running around doing goofy stuff.

Cause this video isn't about making the comparisons between the two, just Lion King and its games. If you want that, go to Yesterworld or SaberSparks. They both did videos on the situation this month.

I'd ignore most of what he said about how Lion King was thought up... they actually just jacked it from a Japanese show starring a Lion named, I shit you not, Kimba... the creator of which Allers went on to with a few years before Lion King was "thought up"... “Kimba, the White Lion.” was the original... and you don't have to squint to hard to lift all the shit that was lifted, though they deny it because saying "yeah we're plagiarizing pieces of shit" was never gonna happen.
Lion King is a great movie, but it is also a stolen one.

4:55 Hey, hey, hey. Where's Beauty and the Beast? That's a notable one too, especially since you just got done saying that it was your favorite over Lion King
5:49 Andreas Deja, he is one hell of an animator. Not only was he Supervising Animator for Scar, but also, King Triton (Little Mermaid) Gaston (Beauty and the Beast) Jafar (Aladdin) Adult Hercules, Lilo from Lilo and Stitch, Mama Odie and her snake Juju in Princess and the Frog, Mickey Mouse in things like The Prince and the Pauper, Fantasia 2000, Runaway Brain, Tigger for the 2011 Winnie the Pooh film, and many, MANY other things. The man in incredible.

So went and shopped the Ridge wallet store. Saw the prices. Laughed myself off the internet, for a minute. Realized my 21 year old wallet still holds things together and hooks to a chain if I so decide. Has been shielded. Realizes that micro transactions are now appearing in gaming channels I watch. Watches Streets Of Rage: the Complete History to remind myself of the "good ole days."

I remember my sister and I watching the trailer on tv as kids, we freaked out. My whole family went to see it in the theater, even my grandparents. And of course we wore out many VHS tapes. I even had a weird budget rip off movie, but I can't recall the name. I remember liking it too though, but it probably didn't hold up as well. I'm still on the fence about seeing the new film. We also had a Sega Pico growing up and the Lion King game for that.

Congrats on seeing it in cinema! I would like to, but I'm not sure if it will be reshown in this age, as it seems that later screenings are never nearly as successful as the original run.
