- I cranked out FIVE pieces of fantasy scatter terrain in less than 2 hours... hopefully these will provide some inspiration for you to make your own scatter terrain that is always useful in a wargame or RPG setting.

This is the stuff I love, lots of little scene fillers to make a table look more alive. They all look good, I'll make some tents to match the standing ones. Thanks!

I think my favorite has to be the Obelisk, with variations it could be fantasy (like you did) or sci-fi (some piece of super-advanced alien tech, as aliens not only care that it works, it must look good too :P), need to find an excuse to put it on modern settings for present day or post-apocalyptic settings too
Would fit right in a Lovecraft-themed game.
Hey, one place you may not consider right off to get easy cheapish pre-made scatter is the aquarium section at Wal-Mart. I found in there just the other day (i didn't get it) a ruined partialy burried skull with a great stone paint scheme and even tuft grass on it as if it was getting over grown, I think it just about 8 or 10$. Certainly not free but definitely easy.

@@jktechwriter You could also pick up some cheap skeletons from dollar tree (they have human skeletons, as well as ones for rats, bats, spiders (why though?) and ravens. Chop 'em up and make piles of bones from some huge, monstrous creatures. Or make the Bone Wheel from Thaw of the Lich Lord *shrug*

Honestly, little scatter is great for RPGs, but for wargaming and skirmish gaming, it's more of a hassle than it's worth. Instead of making several little pieces of terrain, make small setpieces and scenes. Dont make a campfire, and a few tents, and some bags. Make a larger base with all those items on it. Don't make a bunch of individual pillars, make a ritual circle of pillars. These are still great instructions for making those things, but if you're making them for principally wargaming, make them together on bases, rather than individually.
That kind of defeats the purpose of scatter terrain. I like quick, portable stuff I can throw on the table. I do make larger dioramas, but if I want the tent and not the campfire, a diorama means I'm stuck.

I do! I'm currently trying to come up with some projects that use 3D printer, laser cutter, and all my other tools and materials.

Question re the bases, do you have any tips on avoiding warping? Cheers!
Wyloch covers the bottom with glue and lets it dry... supposedly fixes the warping issue. I just give them a good bend after I've painted them and they seem to be okay.

I really want to use chipboard bases as it sits low to the table, but I’ve struggled with warping.
