Much needed video since I'm new to mac please make more videos on Mac os.....i certainly miss some of the windows shortcut......is there any way to have clipboard history and some tips on multitasking with different desktop please do let me know
Thanks Jeff! One tip I found works better on adding folders to the Dock: No need to create an alias (I hate that arrow on the bottom right corner of folders), right click on any folder you want added or click on that folder then press (Command + I) then find the preview to which you can drag that and drop it on the dock. You then right click on that and change the display to Folder and View Content as Grid or anything that suits your viewing taste. Hope this helps!
Jeff this was exceptionally well done. I have been a Windows guys since it was invented for consumer use. In December I crossed over to MAC and my stress levels have gone down dramatically. This was very useful cheers😊👍
I've been using macs for more than 20 years now so I guess I already know most of the tips. But still I wasn't aware I could present my iPhone on the screen this easily and I've never really used Quick Actions to convert images into a PDF which is pretty cool! Thanks for the video!
I've seen about as many mac productivity tips videos as I possibly could, but this video is the only one where the tips are as new as they are helpful to me. Thanks!
My god! I've spent the last 2 days fully overhauling and optimizing my MacBook, when I finally decided to look up what other's suggest ontop of it. This is really useful. Like, finally some genuinely useful, concise and well selected changes. Nothing worse than somebody waffling about useless or obvious stuff.
@@JeffSu early 2015, 13" Pro. I already made 90% of the changes you suggested, but it surely took me longer than it had to. But the drag&drop app is worth every penny! Thanks again! I'll be sure to fly by now and then. :)
This is such an awesome video! As a new mac user, I keep coming back to this video every few weeks - thanks for taking the time to go over all the nitty gritty details :)
@@JeffSu I wish I had a fee off the top of my head. Having homebrew installed to easily get packages has always been the next step for me after I follow some of these steps but now we are talking packages and developer land 😁
These are great tips, thanks! The majority align with what I have applied to my Mac so far. I'll suggest adding this one for the Touch Bar users: replace Siri shortcut with the screenshot. It's far more useful.
Talk about perfect timing. In a week I will start working on a new company and for the work they are giving me macbook, that I've never used before. So thank you for this video!
at last a youtube video where you actually learn and have results. Most videos I get to see here are too much talk but do not really show you the end result. and for tutorials like this they most videos are very confusing so thank you 😊❤

Expecting a nerdy dude talking 3min before he gets to show features everybody already knows and then continues to promote his channel endlessly, I was heavily surprised! You jumped right into the video, gave tips I've never heard of and concentrated on providing value rather than promoting anything! You just gained another follower! And I am very excited for new videos! :) Greetings from Germany, I hope my English was understandable :))
It is odd that they've put it there. I think their intention was that it's a customisation thing, whereas the Battery panel is more for turning it on and off. I do agree it should just be a simple pulldown within Battery though.
I prefer the programm "stats" from github over the percentage of Apples battery percantages. It shows me more information, including the remaining battery in hours and mins. (additionally to many other things like CPU or RAM usage).
Funny but the most helpful tip for me was to use the app you advertised:D Even adverts on this channel are helpful lol, didn't even checked it on privacy, trust you Jeff ✊ Thank you one more time for such valuable content you make
This video is definitely helpful for people who just got a mac and having a problem with it, like me. A super wonderful and informative video, great job!
HI Jeff Really love the videos you make and especially the funny stuff you do. *puts a smile on our faces* by the way, I was checking the image compress feature, and it doesn't show when I'm using markup. I use the latest Mac OS Ventura. is there any other way to go about it? Thanks
Thanks for the kind comment Dhanishta 😁 So you don't need to go into markup. Within finder right click on the image and there should be an option to compress the file
I know the feeling. Not going to lie to you, when I first started using a Mac a few years back, I was SO AGAINST the entire OS. And now look at me...I've fallen so far 🥲
The downloads folder you've created has to stay somewhere, otherwise if you delete it - it will work only as long as you don't clear your trash, because once you do that and the link is gone completely - the folder in the dock will stop working as well. So create the link with Cmd + Option + Drag and save it somewhere in Documents or somewhere and drag from there to the dock. Also if you want to restore your original Downloads (if you remove it from the dock) - just drag it back to the dock, just make sure your alias either a) deleted by then or b) does not have name Downloads otherwise dragging the original download folder won't work because there is already an object named Downloads is there.
Use column view in finder. It makes icons smaller than they need to be and allows you to see the folder breadcrumbs. Also decrease the size of your file thumb nails on your desktop to make it look much cleaner. No need for the icons to be so big
Hey Jeff! Big fan of your content. It's really helped me a lot in my productivity and interviews right now. Any chance we can get a video on thank you emails after an interview?

Pro tip: if you wanna change the way the Downloads folder open up (i don't like the 'fan'. effect either) -- Just right click on it and press "View content as: grid, list, automatic, etc"
Thanks for the tip Maria! So I tried doing that but it still seems to "open from" the Dock? I just wanted the it to open a new folder (if that makes sense)

you can just right click on the default downloads folder in the dock and change the show options. By default it shows as "Fan" but you can change to grid, list or automatic.
I've been doing some serious research on this recently too. Alfred is so powerful! But I think the most important part is practicing and using these workflows everyday haha

This was super informative. Although the battery thing is a non issue for me. You can set battery alert threshold instead of being paranoid on percentage. You really only need to know critical points of battery usage and the icon can give you that information. Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, alert to charge now. I feel more intimate with my Mac after watching this. P.S. might take more energy to display the percentage 🤔

I think the battery percentage feature is hidden so deeply, because Apple essentially doesn't want you to think about the battery.
Hahahaha good point!
It is odd that they've put it there. I think their intention was that it's a customisation thing, whereas the Battery panel is more for turning it on and off. I do agree it should just be a simple pulldown within Battery though.
