      If you're going out clubbing, and you're drinking as well, drink some electrolytes before you go out, and again when you get back. It'll absolutely help you with recovery in the morning. If you drink really hard, even have one prepared for the morning. This is assuming you don't do this already as it wasn't mentioned in the video.

    This is the first of your videos I have stumbled across (thank you algorithm) and what i like is that you don't pretend you can do and be everything. You are realistic and the suggestions are actually very actionable and modifiable. Which instead of being a 1 and done means that I have the thought that there might be more tips lurking in other videos that can be used. It is far to easy to get overwhelmed by the unrealistic over achievers, so this is a refreshing change for a productivity video.

    You put into context how your main tips tie together on a daily routine, and you did it in a funny way! Fantastic! Many valuable tips! But remember to take care of your mental well-being. We often cling to goals, trying to reach to pre-defined ends and seeing things in between as obstacles that need to be solved, however, life is what happens in-between. That is why an atelic approach can lead to much more satisfaction.

    I just want to reach out and say that your videos have been a great help in developing my career and skillset. I was an Executive Chef for about 15 years, and became reasonably proficient with managing finances, product development, implementing processes, mise-en-place, and team cultivation. However, I had no actionable way of taking my previous experience and applying it effectively in different industries.
    Your videos have provided realistic systems and strategies that have allowed me to bridge that gap and become more effective.

    Love your videos! So helpful! and the Anti-Mc Donnalds analogy is something not spoken of enough, our brains do need a breather! The one thing I'll offer as a different approach is referenced at 5:00 where you say to start with your "oldest email", I would argue that if you work a job where most of your emails are from the same internal people, then start with the Newest! This is because information changes. People will send followup email that explain changes that wouldn't make sense if you start with the oldest email, and this also saves time when working through many emails as you've already replied to the newest conversation.

    • @JeffSu
      @JeffSu  Рік тому

      Great points Matt, thank you! So for my job, starting with the newest could be problematic since I lose a lot of the context from the initial emails 😅

    I usually see my supervisor's calendar like yours and I feel his is not managing his calendar but his calendar manages him. I have been looking how to be productive for a while, but now I feel the only thing that helps is to not taking so many responsiblities (to put in the context, I have finished lots of qualifictions and exams myself even after graduating from my PhD). Focus on one or two things at work and make them the best you can. You will still have job security and you will be good at what you are doing. At weekend or evenings, learn something new.

    Came across your video on my feed so my first time watching you and it’s very well made with solid recommendations, principles and takeaways. But I will say your solutions lean more towards an intermediate/advanced audience and less someone who’s starting out or doesn’t know about a lot of the tools and apps you use for creating checklists etc... it’s different to the other self improvement, productivity and efficiency hacking content out there. More like the content you’d get when you actually pay for a course and not the surface level free trial stuff which is very refreshing. What this does inspire though is wow there’s another level to this and for me to check out your other videos to piece together the foundations to get there. Long winded way to say you just got a new subscriber lol

      @@JeffSu Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my UA-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a UA-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this UA-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)

      Thank you! Recognizing the impermanence of life gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel. Recently, I uploaded my longest video not too long ago, which is about an hr long and it doubled the number of my subs and watch time hours and most of all, I've been impacting more lives positively and this is the best part of it all. I created this to share my opinion about these main things that truly impacted the way I live and how I became a minimalist.
      It's the one most vulnerable videos that I had been hesitant to post for many months because of the fear of being misunderstood but I finally decided to overcome that fear so others can learn from my experience so we can all grow together. Remembering my why's is much more important than the analytic growth. Sometimes I get trapped in focusing on any external rewards from this channel to the point that it paralyzes me from taking actions and I think this is what makes most people not even start at all.

    Thanks Jeff, some distilled ideas, great to see - don't think your recovery time-block is stupid at all, realistic planning is what I love most about time-blocking - even when overwhelmed or with a busy brain, the automatic blocks move and help to keep space for what's important - I block out work recovery time after a big week, that space, as you also talk about, makes the recovery fit better also and more intentional

    one thing that was life-changing for me was to always actually time myself - how many pages i get read per hour, what mobile phone habits waste most time (in my case, news 45m, social media 20m). Amazing how inaccurate our assumptions can be

    I'm going to try this idea I had after I quit my previous job - take 10 mins at the end of each day to write myself a reminder list for tomorrow in priority order, then give handover notes to myself at the end of each week, like I'm leaving the job. Hopefully this works because I keep sliding into firefighting mode, dealing with the people screaming the loudest first 🤦

      The end of day habit to make tomorrow's priority list is very helpful to then switch out of work mode. When you make your list do it in 3 sections. 1)tasks that occur at set times 2) tasks you can do whenever for work 3) tasks you can do whenever for personal. That really helps to balance the home/work tasks.

    I set up the back panel double tap as a shortcut on my iPhone that opens a message prompt. I write whatever is on my mind, a to-do or a reminder. I don't need to open any apps or browse through my homescreen. Just double tap - write - save. And then I review it at home / commute / work.
