Thank you so much! Nodes were a scary part of Blender that I was apprehensive about getting into, I had no idea what they did or how to approach them. Your video has opened that door. Thanks again.
Bro just the perfect tutorial for beginners ..... I recommend everyone to go through his video. His explanation is clean like water.. Most of the youtubers just do it for the sake of doing...but salute to this guy and his explaination..
Many thanks for your great effort and for this introduction. I am highly fascinated about the possibilities of procedural materials done with nodes. It seems to be a complex topic and I had some troubles to follow. This is not your fault, I'm just old and slow. I love the fact that you are more independent of third party libraries and asset packs when you master the procedural materials skill. Reason enough to have a deeper look into it. Thanks again, Ryan.
Dude, what I think is "beginner" here is actually a hill of tips that I am discovering even with more than a year of use in Blender. This IS the definitive tutorial to get you started with nodes so congratulations.
I was so overwhelmed with the shading tab when I first started Blender. I’ve completed a few tutorials but nothing has really stuck in my head. You made me no longer feel worried about procedural nodes (until I try and do them myself) and have done a wonderful job explaining it!
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. As a newbie blender, I'm so confused at procedural material and using the nodes in shader. Your kind, crystal clear and straightforward explanation (w/ bunch of tips) is incredibly helpful in understanding the NODES! I'm watching and learning your previous vids related to this topic one by one, and carving my own material-nodes-diagrams in my mind like a subway map. lol... Thanks again, Mr. King! :)
Thanks so much for a great tutorial. Geometry nodes make a lot more sense when you think of them as object-oriented scripting. As an old programmer it immediately clarified things for me. Looking forward to more.
This tutorial is just so incredible. You explained so many different kinds of nodes in an organized way that we as beginners can absorb them more easily. Tank you!!!
its just mind blowing how many things you can learn online for free, your channel is helping me achieve my goals with an easy and simple to understand tutorials. keep up the good work.
Glad to hear that! I learned Blender by watching lots of free tutorials on UA-cam, so I wanted to give back to the community and make tutorials to help others. And I'm also trying to make Blender content for a living. 🙂 Glad the videos are helpful, and thanks for watching!
you were so helpful it was actually unbelivable i thought i wouldve just stopped trying to learn nodes but this video was so easy to understand & really was for beginners. Cuz there are some other videos saying its for beginners but goes on a trip to create the most complex node system without explaining one thing. Or you would have to replay the videos millions of times just to catch on to what they are even saying or doing.
I've tons of bitmaps that I use in Blender currently. Some tiffs and UV's that I created when I was constructing custom bsp, map levels and objects, weapons vehicles scenery for Halo CE and various gaming groups around 2007 to 2011.. The old jms tag assemblies lightmaps and the ever so blind days of the cmd "wait to see what you baked " lol. I mean, watching a render in real time is only one of many mind blowing assets Blender posses. and it's free!! I paid upward of 2,000 for Autodesk in 2008 to 2010 ver That being said, this node assembly ui and the way the textures and finally materials are constructed is another mind sweeper but you lay it out very well. Thanks again for another stellar tut:)
The shader section initially felt very magical, with a lot of stuff happening without any clear reason. Through your youtube videos I've managed to get a little understanding of the nodes. This video deepens my understanding of the shader section. I've only watched 35min so far, but thank you for this video.
Hi Ryan. Thank you so much for this amazing and in-depth tutorial! You've contributed so much to the Blender community, this is some really great work. I just wanted to tell you though, that the 4th last section of your tutorial(Vector nodes) doesn't seem to produce the same effect on an object in Blender 4.1 Not sure if it's a bug, but essentially nothing happens to the object.
I don't know English. I am using machine translation to watch your video. Because the translation is not accurate, I need to watch some parts for several times to understand. But it's still a very good instructional video. Thank you
Very informative. I learnt a lot and really appreciate the time you put into making these videos. I'm surely going to rewatch this video several times as I think it contains the basics that a beginner like me needs.
This is one of the bestest tutorial ..explained very well and clearly..worth to watch..and sir is there any tutorials about modifiers..I'm eager to learn
Your videos are the best I found in the internet for blender tutorial. Your way of explanation is very good. I am starting a channel to upload videos on quantum computing in 3d animations. Even though blender is hard I am enjoying doing it.
Thanks I've been looking for this kind of tutorial ever since I've started blender I really want to understand the node's ..this is really a great help..
Great Tutorial, thank you. The best i came across on this topic, non of the others i came across did a good job at explaining them. Thanks for simplifying!
@@RyanKingArt Actually I searched the UA-cam to make sense what is a node editor is. This video I find closely resembles that. As a suggestion, please give a brief explanation about what is and what are we going to do in first few minutes of any video. This would connect to any person who is at any level of expertise as well as to any person who just hits a particular video for a first time. I am just a beginner. Thanks for the video.
Great and easy to follow tutorial, Ryan! I am brand new to using nodes - very helpful. Beginner question: what are the advantages of using procedural material over UV mapping? Does it cut down on rendering computation? File size? Thanks again!!
Thanks! You can't really compare UV mapping and Procedural materials. Procedural materials is the type of material, where as UV mapping is how the texture is placed on the object. So you can UV map a procedural material onto an object.
Hello Ryan, excellent tutorial as always. Please tell me, how long have you been using blender? How much time did it take you to learn all these things?

Hi Ryan, thanks for your nice tutorials, they are awesome! Bumb effect at 54:48 is very different for me and it has very less impact. i paid attention to have exactaly your values for all nodes. i'm on 4.0 and Principled BSDF is quite different, maybe it depends on that?
Hi Ryan I have a really simple question for you. While working with the Procedural Nodes. How do you plug a purple output into a yellow color input. but keep the final result grey? I have a [Mapping > Gradient Texture >Mix] and the result goes from black and white grey scale to RGB noise How do I retain the Greyscale data? Sorry if this question doesn't make any sense to you let me know and I will go into more detail.
