I have read all of Elmore and am half way through Peter's books. By the time he gets to Voices from the Dead, Peter Leonard has developed some serious ability, and his books are hugely entertaining. He has got past the problem of introducing too many characters, which is a problem with his earlier books, and the stories are believable and fast running adventures with well-crafted violence and humour. Peter Leonard is now on my list with Michael Connelly for buying each title as it's published. Cannot wait for more.
At 13:15....The character in Rum Punch was in fact Jackie Burke, so there was no coincidence, as Peter stated, with the Jackie Brown in Higgin's book: The Friends Of Eddie Coyle. Tarantino was the one who later changed her name from Burke to Brown for the film version of Rum Punch. I cannot believe that Peter Leonard did not know this, and, at this point, Elmore was obviously too old to remember or catch the error himself.
It seems like Peter wanted to grab some of the momentum around his father, and likely had inside information about his health which triggered some of these power plays we saw in the 24 months prior to Elmore's death. I wish Peter the best, and I hope he honors his father correctly. Elmore wasn't a saint, but he wasn't a villain either.

Thanks for the recommendation, Peter. I've gone through Elmore's and am looking for more. Any particular titles of Peter's to start with?
Peter lost all credibility when he published Raylen Goes To Detroit. Trying to make money off his father's franchise.

at 13:10 Peter is mistaken, it's Jackie Burke in Rum Punch, not Jackie Brown.
Leonards start at 02:57, after introduction.
Elmore was 15 when he graduated from college?
PETER LEONARD is a trouble maker
