    I got the same amplifier, question i wanted to ask is will it do justice for my 15 kicker comp q or should I get a separate amp for that sub, I'm looking for nice clean sound and right now it's hooked to a 12 L7T kicker shallow mount that hits but not as hard as I expected, I was thinking it was the amp but after seeing it push this sub in you're video i think i might put the 15 in for better Bass and quality

    • @Silentjustin06
      @Silentjustin06  Рік тому

      I'm not familiar with the subwoofer so I couldn't give you the correct answer. The shallow mouth isn't going to sound that great. It probably has a lower xmax which is how much excursion a subwoofer can move. The proper box is probably your most important factor in how good a particular subwoofer is going to sound

      I actually have this 18 in my room now. It's powered by a 12v 50 amp power supply rated for 600w max. I have a pioneer 7 inch double din and a pioneer GM-D9705 5 channel amp. I'm running 2 10 inch midrange with some horns in a CHERO BOX. It literally knocks stuff off my walls if I turn it up high 😂. I also have a skar 8 inch subwoofer and some ds18 3 way 6.5s with some cheap tweeters. I use as my sound system for my TV. They are power by a cheap Bluetooth 3 channel amp from Amazon. I set my phone to connect to both Bluetooth at the same time. So both systems are going at the same time. Sounds amazing.

      Maybe with 600w rms being put to it but with my Pioneer GM-D9701 1,200 rms amp. It gets pretty unhappy pretty quickly. I was testing a song that had a 15hz bass track. It would putout some surprisingly good flex but would start to smell in under a minute. I blew 2 of them experimenting with their limits. I bought a 3rd and hurt it also trying to push the limits on more power than it's rated. It's a home theater bed room subwoofer now.
      2 of these on a 1,200 rms amp in something like a suv would get down for a budget setup. I ran 1 on 1,200 rms for a year with no problems. It's only when I went for the very low notes that I started blowing them

    Turn your subsonic off lol.

    • @Silentjustin06
      @Silentjustin06  2 роки тому +1

      Why? and my amp doesn't have a subsonic filter! If it had one, I wouldn't turn it off! The box is tuned to 30hz. So I'd put the subsonic around 25hz if it had one.

    • @Silentjustin06
      @Silentjustin06  2 роки тому +1

      SUBSONIC FILTER - is basically a HPF (high pass frequency) filter for your subwoofers. As we discussed earlier in this article, subwoofer amps typically use LPF (low pass frequency) filters to block high frequencies that should be playing through your speakers. A subsonic filter will attenuate frequencies so low that your subwoofer cannot reproduce them OR that humans are incapable of hearing.
      Subsonic filter is also a very important feature for vented enclosures. For example, if your custom built, ported enclosure is tuned to 33Hz, you probably don’t want to play frequencies that are way lower than that. Doing so could damage your subwoofers.
      Humans can generally hear from 20Hz to 20,000Hz. If you send low frequencies below 20Hz to your subwoofers, you can’t hear them anyway. Most music doesn’t contain these frequencies for that very reason but even 25Hz can be hard on your subwoofer if it isn’t designed to play that low.
      There are many opinions about where to set a subsonic filter. 5Hz below what the box is tuned for… ½ an octave below what the box is tuned for… We recommend simply turning your system up to a maximum volume and playing a song that you have that hits the lowest frequency. Or find a test tone disc that has a variety of low frequency tracks and adjust your subsonic filter until your subs play as low as possible without bottoming out. Keep an eye on your subs and listen. Find a setting that sounds good to you and your subwoofers don’t appear to stop moving at either end of

      @@Silentjustin06 I’ve been in the game a long time and I’m familiar with that specific song as well as the sdr and it’s factory enclosures. My sdr 15s in the skar boxes were easily able to play down to 18hz. Moved a bit of air also. The low note in the song wouldn’t even tickle that sub lol. It’s set way too high. Also you obviously haven’t been in a good build if you think 20hz is as low as you can go. 18hz on my T2’s will tickle your brain hahaha. I can hear that without a doubt. Also lots of ground pounders will play into the teens without any issues. Sdr has a relatively peaceful Fs once it gets loose. The skar box is tuned around 28-30 if I remember right. That’s the range that my subs had the least amount on excursion. The port in those enclosures is a terrible design but somehow allows a good peak down low and up high. Won’t play the low 30s range for crap though. 17-25 and 35-43 where where mine peaked. Everything else was Ass.

I demo with that song occasionally 🤔 the amp should have no issue dropping that low note. Could be the video too but I don’t see it moving in the slightest where that note should be. I doubt your deck has a subsonic. Though I had that issue before and it turned out my rca outputs were set to rear speakers instead of sub. The crossover setting on the radio cause me to have no lows at all. Just 40-50hz and up lol
