    I have the mini t & love it. However, Losi should sell the lower shock spring retainers as a replacement part. I am not the only person that "lost" one this weekend.
    I guess if your suspension is adjusted to a stiffer spring rate it probably is not really an issue.

    On its own, this thing looks awesome. But I don't see it taking off with the club racing crowd it's being marketed towards. It's too small for most tracks (I actually managed to lose track of my Mini 8ight on a 1/10th scale track and that thing's significantly larger), it's too small to practice with even on smaller tracks since it would just get monster trucked by everything, and it doesn't seem like enough racers are willing to give new classes a try. There's just not enough support for anything that isn't stock 1/10th scale buggy.
    For this to take off in the racing side of the hobby, Horizon's going to need to push this thing HARD.
    Meanwhile, as a basher, it's definitely going to be an indoor only car, even more so than the Mini-T.

    • @rcdriver
      @rcdriver  3 роки тому +4

      Probably because if they just threw a buggy body on the Mini-T chassis, it would have looked awkward. The existing suspension setup works great as is so it makes sense to reuse it, plus parts support and aftermarket options are already out there and available.

    • @alajeunesse254
      @alajeunesse254 3 роки тому +1

      The size solves a number of issues. The Mini-T 2.0 chassis wouldn't have been able to accommodate a buggy body given that the ESC/receiver mount on top of the battery; this being the only option to fit electronics within the existing configuration restricts it to an open truck style body. As mentioned previously, stretching the chassis also allows proper scale when using the existing front/rear suspension components which saves Horizon $ on production by limiting the number of new molds/parts needed (which in turn saves us, the consumers, $), and it allows those that currently have a Mini-T 2.0 to utilize a lot of the same spare parts, upgrades, etc. on the new platform.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 3 роки тому +1

      @@alajeunesse254
      One thing I want to note, though, is that the stock battery is huge compared to batteries of a similar capacity and voltage. I run a Tattu (Gens Ace's FPV Quad racing department) of the same voltage and capacity in my modified Mini-T 2.0 and I actually have to stick the connector under the battery strap to get it to stay in. There's room for an entire second pack of the same size under there, I could probably fit a 4S if my Hobbywing EZRun ESC was capable of handling it.
      In short, though, the battery could have been a lot smaller than it is, and it's what's making the interior of the vehicle so cramped.

    • @alajeunesse254
      @alajeunesse254 3 роки тому

      Size of the battery is a tough thing to discuss here as you're comparing a hard case to a soft pack (apples and oranges, really). To your point, they could have potentially made the 650mah pack smaller as they now offer a 800mah 50C pack that is the exact same size, but this also could just be progression of tech/manufacturing/etc. within their battery supply chain. Also, the argument to have initially made the pack smaller and reduce cramping inside of the cab would have provided a much smaller stock battery location, which would have limited the options for aftermarket packs that I know many people like to run. They could have (this is a guess, not knowledge based) sized the original pack around a desired battery tray dimension rather than the constraints of the pack itself to provide a bit more room for the consumer.

      That's possible it was to allow for larger batteries. Still, the amount of space the stock battery takes up is far more than what would be necessary for most upgraded packs, unless Horizon is planning on releasing a 4S pack for this thing (which would be outright overkill).
      Meanwhile, a hardcase version of the batteries I'm running wouldn't really be much bigger. Maybe 1mm or so in every direct at most.
      In short, I understand that they'd want extra room for bigger packs, but how much more do they really need?

    I would be more interested in this as a kit. I will stick with my 144001 in this scale.

    Awesome buggy, I’m sure they will be releasing a brushless version. Still waiting for Losi to release a new Monster truck.

    Got mine today! Picked up some hole shot tires for the rears! Nice and soft. Anyone know what size rims and tires fit the front? Going to see if I can find some softer compounds for the fronts!

      @@williamperri3437 oh it is a blast! We race purs at our local 10th scale clay offroad track. We put a brushless kit in and it runs the track just as smoothly and fast as the 10th scales! The only thing weve had trouble with so far is ball cups popping off. Other than that no broken parts yet. Absolutely recommend! Most fun I've had with rc in awhile!
