Just picked one up and it's super cute! I grew up in Pomona, Ca. I loved The Ranch Pit Shop. I remember the JRX2's spanking the RC10's on that small track in back.
I owned the original back in the day, Never could get parts for it in small town New Zealand so after I broke it, it stayed broken until a family member went to Australia on holiday and I gave them a parts list and asked them to visit a hobby store. The next time it broke it stayed broken. Went looking for it over a decade ago and it would seem it ended up being thrown away.
Hey dude, I am almost positive you can buy 3d printed parts bro. People configure the dimensions to be 99% identical. Shapeways is a company that makes or sells downloadable parts that you can download on your pc if you know someone with a 3d printer. Just so you know: Nylon is the strongest plastic, so as much nylon as possible is what you look for. My friend had your buggy as well and used to win all the neighborhood drag races 25+ years ago. Peace brother!
Excited for this release! It's gonna look awesome sitting next to my 1989 Team Losi JRX-2 that I used to race back in the late 80's and early 90's! The JRX-2 was ahead of its time back in the day and it's great to see it being released in a smaller version!
Can I tell you I love this car! As kid in the 80s I had losi and tamiyas … today I have many arrmas that can do 62 mph but this new little mini retro losi is one of my favorites! Good job losi !
Losi/Horizon make it a 1/10 scale if you're going to make a re-release. The mini just doesn't cut it! Tamiya, Kyosho, and Team Associated made the right move with their 1/10 scale releases.
I think this one may of been before Brett’s time. 🤣😂. Regarding the colors, red is the original ‘88 box art, blue is the Junior 2 which was the entry level kit around ‘91 with bushings and the black one, which I preordered and haven’t seen one person review, is the JRxPro ‘90 box art.
Yup! I actually just commented the same, before I saw yours.. I know it for a fact, because I suggested my little brother buy a Junior Two, for his first buggy (Because I liked the box art so much!), and I was kinda mad when we opened the box and it had the updated disc wheels, in NEON red/orange, and I really wanted to do the body like the box ( the white 5 spokes were what really "set off" that paint scheme, imho..) lol
@@billymanilli I didn’t know these came with the disk wheels! I thought that started with the pro and pro se. I’m mainly a Tamiya and Kyosho guy so I never paid too much attention to these back in the day. I was more into driving around/light off road then racing or what they now call “bashing” in which you buy something for $800 and then crash it into a tree at 70mph because it’s “cool.” 🤦🏼♂️I got notification that my black/pink is shipping from Tower. Which one did you get and from where?
It really is one awesome reproduction! I love the vintage Losi’s a lot. I never was able to afford a JRX2 lol but I did have a XXXT and that thing was super cool.
I kind of feel like this was a missed opportunity in that they made it 1/16th rather than 1/10th. It's cute and all, but if you're going to do a reproduction, you might as well go all the way with it. I still take my old JrxPro out for street bashing 30 years later, and it's still fun. If they had done this in 1/10th, I would have new replacement parts! :)
I have a Mini T myself, Helion body, mini Revo wing, it's a blast around the house. Hopefully the Jrx2 will have some aftermarket stuff soon. Although I wasn't around rcs when to original came out, the new looks pretty cool. 👍 Great video Brett!
I love my Mini T 2.0 (its even my profile picture) so I have high hopes for this. I preordered the blue one and can't wait to try it out and see how different it is. Eventually I plan on making it brushless like I did on my T.
Fun fact, each body represents all three JRX buggies. Red/JRX2, Black/JRX PRO, and Blue/Junior2. I loved the Losi buggies when I was a kid, when I got good with my Traxxas Hawk I saw the new car in RC Car Action magazine, saved my money and built a JRX PRO SE as soon as it released and raced it at the local track. My brother had an LX-T at the time.
I own the original jrx2, bought at the ranch pit shop in Pomona, CA. Real car's chassis was graphite, all the rage from losi back then. Lost use graphite everything whereas Team Associated used an aluminum chassis, plastic A arms, and fiberglass shock towers.
Looking forward to an upgrade video on this...hopefully...I remember when the original was released...I was really into nitro planes back then...didn't get into R/C cars until my later teens
If I remember correctly , the original jrx2 came with a plastic chassis. Soon after the came out with the upgrade kit that eliminated the trailing arms and upgraded the chassis to a carbon fiber one . Along with other various upgrades
That's what I remember as well... Also the Blue body he has is the Box art body for the Junior Two, rather than the JRX2, which isn't right for the chassis, but makes me REALLY want one, as that was one of my ALL time favorite paint schemes. I remember my brother actually buying a Junior Two when we were kids, and I was really disappointed it came with newer "disc" rims (in NEON red), rather than the 5 spokes, because I wanted to paint it to look like the box..
@@billymanilli I had the one with the red paint scheme , it came with orange spoke rims , could have sworn it was a plastic chassis . I built a truck out of the carbon upgrade chassis .
They came with a graphite chassis. I had one as a kid. I remember being intrigued at the use and stiffness of the graphite. It’s like a mix of fiberglass and carbon fiber without the carbon fiber look/pattern.

I still have my original JRX2 from the late 80's and just got it up and running again. 🙂 Now I got the bug again and just yesterday I bought a Typhon 6S BLX.
I have a fully modified mini b for racing at my clay track, and I might get this one to keep for looks. I think tossing some brushless system in this think would be fun. Im glad the chassis is way different from the mini b so it isnt just a reskin.
My dad had the 1/10 version when I was little. I remember him ripping it around the yard when I was little. It got thrown out/lost when he passed about a year ago. No one knew it was worth anything. I went to my local hobby shop a little bit ago to check this out but the guys there said this would be too slow to have fun with and I walked out with the Arrma granite 1/10. It's a fun r/c but I wish could get that team losi buggy 1/10 in blue and just upgrade the components. This JRX2 really looks cool.
@@michaelbrajkovich1999 I get that thought yet true collectors only want originals so I find that with past re releases the original models prices aren't effected much.

Awesome review as always!
yeah its interesting to see a kind of multi link design for the suspention on an rc car

Where’s the aftermarket support for the jrx2
Were this 1/10 scale I would buy it. Shame they scaled it down.
Does it have a ball diff or slipper clutch?
Is it the same size as the mini b 🤔
i prefer old shool body look then the new front cab
Will the back wheels fit on the mini b
Same wheel hex so yes
Looks so retro 🔥👍
