these defensive battles really need some artillery, if you take a catapult and put the tank shell as its projectile you get pretty good artillery. Putting it on the catapult gives it a pretty good arc and you can get the fire over the front lines. You can do the same with archers and make the 'mortar' units.

The battle got stuck long before you noticed.... I think what would make a 'stuck' battle more interesting is selecting even just a few dozen or a few hundred defenders and set them to attack mode. Perhaps that could dislodge something and get the attackers moving again, and at least it'll be more interesting to watch.

Had the same glitch with the trolls, you should try to control one of them manually (not RTS mode) and walk a few up to the frontlines, the rest (or some) should follow, just make sure you take an unit on the front were the others are stuck behind. Hope that works^^

Finally got to see the specters. I kept thinking they would be transparent ghosts but I didn't understand how anyone could attack a transparent ghost.

The glitch might have to do with their hit boxes since they might have a hotbox too big to fit through the mountains of bodies and other units and get stuck
