Thank you! Hey perhaps you will make it to one of them someday! I try to film in a way so the viewer feels what it's like to dine at these places, so hopefully my videos will suffice until then
I enjoy my frugal home alternative: Chargrilled boneless highly-marbled NY Strip Steak seared medium-rare placed on an 8-inch golden-toasted buttered sweet French Garlic Loaf then TEAR INTO IT like a ravenous glutinous carnivore and wash it all down with a chilled bottle of German imported extra dark Spaten Optimator Beer!😋
I knew you were going to mention Gallaghers when you panned up the street at Times Square! Best lunch deal ever and great service! Love their brown walnut bread, yum 😋
The original palm, where I visited a few times, was a very different and wonderful experience. There was sawdust about two inches in depth all over the floor. There were original drawings of caricatures of many people. The lobster was to die for. The price was about $80.00 for a very large, l Maine lobster. I'm thinking this was in the early eighties. Don King the legendary boxing promoter was there every time I went. He had his seat , at the same place, all times that I would visit. Great memories!!
UA,,, do you think you put enough garlic on that steak? lol..... I love you ate it hot and talked about it later. Thank you for another honest and great video! I trust what you say,,,,,,,
As always, another wonderful review UA. It looked good, but I guess it looked better than tasted. For having Italian roots, the sauce didn't look appealing. The salad did look amazing. I didn't know that Boston Market has any open locations but agree you should review. Wishing you and Tina a great rest of your night and look forward to your next review
UA excellent review. May I ask that you try an Argentinian restaurant for your review ? Try La Fusta in NJ. Great place. Looking forward to your review . As always keep up the great work !!
UA! Good review buddy. The steak looked more medium but still in the ballpark. That garlic would have been great on some nice bread. Margaritaville is over on 7th Ave. I think. Thanks man . TC 👋🏽
I really love your New York Steakhouse reviews. Brings back good old memories. The boys from work and I used to give us a treat at a different location once in a while in the nineties. One thing I can say, after moving back to Germany: New York steaks are the best. And yes, I enjoyed the NY strip at the palm back then.
Hey UA! We went to the palm last December right before going to see Wicked. We were able to walk right in without a reservation and sit in the bar area. Thought the food was solid and service pretty good. Could you consider trying out Emilio’s Ballato? Love the videos. Keep doing your thing!
Back in the day i was a frequent diner at Palm 1 & 2 on 2nd ave...the steaks were outstanding & also had some of the best Veal Parm ever..the place had old world atmosphere..grizzled old time waiters..don't ever remember a menu being shown, just order what you knew they had..walls had peeling faded paint with old drawings of some stars not as cartoony & flashy as the modern day versions.sawdust on the floors....the 4 lb lobsters were insane ..really loved the grit and atmosphere of the place..miss it a lot..NYC has changed quite a bit since but, the memories of those steaks remain...Truly a 4-star legendary place in its day...
Wow. Love your shows UA! BTW The Palm has been my favorite restaurant steak ever! Dont live in the US so have not had the chance to try out many other steak houses yet!
Restaurant week is like “Sampler week”. It’s not a cheaper rate just for the sake of being cheaper. It’s actually usually less food, or fewer options (as in the case of a churrascaria)
Great review. I’d give this place a try. That park looked great. I can’t believe that I’ve never seen a garlic clove used like that on steak. Usually roast it to make garlic bread, but this is a whole new experience. Thanks for the vid UA.
That waiter was an absolute legend 45$ before tip for all of that in NYC or anywhere is a damn bargain Props to the waiter, that guy deserves a big tip on every table he serves Most regular dine in restaurants near chicago charge damn near 30$ these days for a decent chicken parm A steak that good? 30-50$ depending on the place Hell a caesar salad over here without chicken is usually about 10$ This was a flat out steal, my man
Everything looks great with really good portions too.Love your food reviews…keep up the great stuff UA!!! You are now a celebrity I see.You got recognized on the street🏆well done!!!
Been to the original twice. My job at the time was 3 blocks from it and my bosses took the staff there for lunch. Great times, great food, miss both the job and the original Palm. I’m going to have to try this new Palm, maybe take a date I really like there sometime.
I ate at the Palm in Tribeca (west street) several times about ten years ago (before it closed, obviously) and I loved their salads. It was great. (And PS - I LOVE LOVE LOVE carrot cake - that looked like really good carrot cake too).
The Washington, DC Palm back in the 80s and 90s was the best steak and seafood restaurant in the DMV. It was THE place to be seen if you were a politician, lobbyist, lawyer or business executive. It had a real New York irreverence about it that made it unique, particularly in a stuffy city like DC. Tommy and Ray Jacomo ran the place and hired the best waiters ever. I miss those good ole days.
My father worked at the palm, he worked at the east Hampton location and the bay harbor Island in Florida. I think he worked at the Chicago location but that was only for less than a year. I met Ray Jacomo once when I was a teenager.
I've been to The Palm in Atlantic City which was located at the Tropicana Casino. I've ordered the Caesar Salad which they prepared tableside. I remember our waiter asking us if we like anchovies in our Caesar Salad, to which we answered with a resounding YES! After which, our waiter added whole filets of anchovies in the salad bowl as he prepared our freshly made Caesar Salad. It was the best Caesar Salad I have ever eaten! I would definitely go back just for that awesome Caesar Salad!
Thanks for sharing your new dining experiences -- what a great jourrneey. I have dined at restaurant week for many years... in different cities and I always ask to see all menus before ordering and get clarification on portion size and avaiability. Not to mention there may be options I want not on the RW menu. I will go online to check out the dinner menu as I will be in midtown for a conference next month. Is it necessay to tell the waiter when placing your order you will be taking food home with you? Just curious if I did not like the food I would not take it home; Like the Chicken Parm, I know from your video I would not eat it. I walk out and give it to a homeless person so it is not wasted.
The lunch special on second ave at the original location was an NYC gem. Add a lobster and you had an extravagant experience. The Hamptons location was also good. Even before Palm Too. Now it is like going to Morton's or Flemings. Not bad but not local.
Hi UA there was just NY then they opened an outlet in Miami always had a good meal they had giant 5-7 lb lobsters cooked differently and good steaks . Then they got bought out by a restaurant group that opened up a bunch of locations even one after security in terminal 5 at Kennedy Airport . Was never the same after the family sold out . But not bad . Still love your Chanel . Keep up the great work 👍🏻😊. RK
You have to go to Belmont Tavern in Jersey! Old school Italian spot. Home of the chicken savoy dish. They have an amazing shrimp dish but I know you can’t have it :(
I always order Chicken Parm as my side dish at the Palm. I love the preparation and the flavor. Overly sweet sauce means low quality. They actually use Muenster for the cheese. That restaurant week steak is not their typical cut and quality compared to the regular menu.
Love garlic, but garlic overload I think. Your videos and commentary are becoming more refined. Enjoyable to watch your reviews, as they are very natural. And yes, dry aged is better than wet aged IMHO.
Jesus I can’t believe this joint closed it was good in 90s and Vegas was good too I’m sure pandemic had something to do with it Thanks again sleepy Joe
owh man roasted garlic, thats a side on a steak i tend to always make at home as well, just cook them in their skin slowly untill they have turned to mush on the inside, and spread it like a little peace of butter on your steak, simply lovely.
There are a few steakhouses that serve roasted garlic with their steaks. Have you tried the Strip House for steak? They have great steaks there with roasted garlic. Their mashed potatoes and creamed spinach are to die for too.
I think the one in DC closed years ago. I remember my father loved taking us there but at one point we stopped going and I’m pretty sure it was because the restaurant closed.
It's cool to see the extra stuff they give you and to get and understanding of what they're putting out there. In this case they're definitely trying to put a solid foot forward and this overall says alot. Definitely says the carrot cake would be a good try at The Palm. Also let's be honest, every extra item getting reviewed is just another UA reviewed item.
The problem with the steak is not that it is wet aged, the problem is that it is very poorly seared, and no sear at all on the bottom. I would have returned it.
Since you like anchovies check out Song E Napule (they have 3 locations in NYC and one in NJ) and try their MARINARA STARITA or the Napoletana. You won’t be disappointed. 👌🏼
If you're doing a Texas BBQ, I recommend you try Barbs-B-Q and Redbird BBQ and order a full tray. They're the #1 BBQ in the U.S.A., and #1 Cajun BBQ in Texas, respectively. I recommend watching Ant's BBQ Cookout video "I Tried the Best New BBQ Spot in the U.S.A." and "I Tried the #1 Cajun BBQ in Texas."
My nephews and nieces love Tonys. MEH They remember going to the herald square location during a blizzard probably a decade ago. We still meet up on the UES location occasionally. My folks live on East End Avenue. Dad’s turning 90 in October. Probably Tonys again 😣
One of my favorite UA-camrs! It would be so cool to go to one of the spots you have reviewed!
Thank you! Hey perhaps you will make it to one of them someday! I try to film in a way so the viewer feels what it's like to dine at these places, so hopefully my videos will suffice until then
Some of these comments are pretty mean guys. He's not claiming to be an expert just some dude who eats and tells us his opinion.
Agreed. He generally does a great job....though I do still give him sh*t when he wears a mask! 😅
@peterjabattack1 yes thank you! Someone gets it!
Yup... Just a dude who likes to eat. Chill out on the rudeness
The only thing weirder than the fact that I like to watch a random guy eat lunch on youtube is the idea that any of us are doing this "wrong"
I 100% SUPPORT UA!👏👍
Your channel is so good! Thank you for taking us to all of these restaurants. The food looks delicious!
Your videos always make me hungry. I'm really glad you venture out on a variety of foods. Keep on eating.
never cared to go to new york til I found UA’s channel. my new favorite channel
😂 you tried to switch menu specials after you ordered. 😂😂😂 the best.
The waiter was ready for it.😂
lol yeah not a great idea to ever do that...don't want to make the kitchen angry
What a cheap ass!
Tried to switch up the special he ordered mid meal! Classic UA! Love it!
Roasted garlic and steak are 🔥 together. Glad you got to experience it.
Yes I baste my home steak 🥩 with garlic 🧄 butter 🧈 just as an aside I was not impressed with the way the server explained things
had great roasted garlic hummus w oil and garlic topping from the store
1:56 UA Eats Hello, I am Korean and my name is Choi Mimi. I subscribed and liked it. 😍🙏💗
I like the Garlic clove idea ! I will be trying it out as I ususally cook my steak at home.
Thank you UA for this video. I made the "Roasted garlic clove in Olive oil and basted it on the outside of the Steak. Took the meal to another level.
Hey UA. Hope to run into you whenever I get back to NYC.. LOVE the videos. Keep up the awesome work 👏
If you run into me definitely don't hesitate to say hi!
I knew you were going to mention Gallaghers when you panned up the street at Times Square! Best lunch deal ever and great service! Love their brown walnut bread, yum 😋
You are definitely the most underrated food reviewing channel, my brother.

nice sir, really liked your objective food review. One of a kind.
UA,,, do you think you put enough garlic on that steak? lol..... I love you ate it hot and talked about it later. Thank you for another honest and great video! I trust what you say,,,,,,,
Looked just ok. I’ve been to the River Palm in NJ. That place is excellent. Thanks for sharing.
You do great in-depth reviews.
I love carrot cake & that cake looks so tasty! ♥️♥️♥️
I think there is one left in NJ. I will try to get to it ASAP before it goes under...

UA excellent review. May I ask that you try an Argentinian restaurant for your review ? Try La Fusta in NJ. Great place. Looking forward to your review . As always keep up the great work !!
Great video as always!! Could you someday go back to trying sushi restaurants? I discovered you doing sushi nakazawa
UA! Good review buddy. The steak looked more medium but still in the ballpark. That garlic would have been great on some nice bread. Margaritaville is over on 7th Ave. I think. Thanks man . TC 👋🏽

Outstanding UA-cam video UA, I actually ate at the Palm in Las Vegas. It was good from what I remember. Please keep making those videos I love them 😁👍
That looks like a proper Caesar salad. I made these tableside in fine dinner houses as a Captain, from the original Tijuana Mexico recipe.
I have fond memories of the original Palm on 2nd Ave. A throwback to old school New York.
New subscriber here! Appreciate your content! Keep going !
Palm is good. They have on in Nashville, so I’ve been to a few all over USA and it feels the same.
Hey UA! We went to the palm last December right before going to see Wicked. We were able to walk right in without a reservation and sit in the bar area. Thought the food was solid and service pretty good.

I took a bread course. One class was pizza. Everyone one of us made a pizza with anchovies. You are not alone in your love of pizza with anchovies. 😊
Anchovies pizza is the best :)
woot!! UA is back at it! 👏
Wow. Love your shows UA! BTW The Palm has been my favorite restaurant steak ever! Dont live in the US so have not had the chance to try out many other steak houses yet!
Looks solid!
That Caesar salad looked to die for.

Love that giant first bite of steak you took. A true professional. I definitely would have added a small bit of sauce to the first bite of parm though
you cant eat right from the cow cut it in half and cook it
Great review. I’d give this place a try. That park looked great. I can’t believe that I’ve never seen a garlic clove used like that on steak. Usually roast it to make garlic bread, but this is a whole new experience. Thanks for the vid UA.
Enjoy your meal! Thanks for this video UA
Never been to any. Everything looked delicious❤😊
That waiter was an absolute legend
45$ before tip for all of that in NYC or anywhere is a damn bargain
Props to the waiter, that guy deserves a big tip on every table he serves
Most regular dine in restaurants near chicago charge damn near 30$ these days for a decent chicken parm

30-50$ depending on the place
Hell a caesar salad over here without chicken is usually about 10$

I had dinner at The Palm in Buckhead Atlanta years ago, it was fantastic.
Fun Fact, their chicken parm uses Munster cheese, they have a Ribeye at Dinner which is great. This place and S&W are my favorites...
Ive been to the original way back in the 70s and it was great.
I love anchovies ❤that salad looks so appetizing. I like anchovies & pineapple on my pizza thin pizza❤

Love your video man wish u come to Vancouver,Canada and I will take to some places for u to review.
I've been told you have the best sushi in north America. Have an opinion?
The pasta looked good the steak didn’t look any better than what I grill at home. 👍
The Washington, DC Palm back in the 80s and 90s was the best steak and seafood restaurant in the DMV. It was THE place to be seen if you were a politician, lobbyist, lawyer or business executive. I ate at the original Palm. Great food and awesome seafood tower.
A first class review with all high end choices would be interesting
I’ve been to the palm in Atlantic City and thought it was very good
Put some of that garlic on your chicken parm. Add more parm like a lot, maybe black pepper ❤

You have to go to Belmont Tavern in Jersey! Old school Italian spot. Home of the chicken savoy dish. They have an amazing shrimp dish but I know you can’t have it :(
The roasted garlic would be good on some bread and also add to yr underseasoned pasta marinara.

There is one in Tysons Corner in VA - where I'm at. Also at Tropicana in AC.
UA is doing this channel well
The streak is more towards medium than medium rare but I’d still smash this
That steak is a perfect medium.
Wow two people could share those portions!
Definitely could use more salad sauce.

I didn’t notice if you were given bread. Usually you squeeze the roasted garlic onto the bread, but on the steak it great too…
Looks like a nice place to eat!
