$80 for a steak and no sides. These prices are ridiculous! For that same price I can grill 4 good sized ribeyes at home. They may not be cooked by Gordon Ramsey, but he sure ain’t behind the grill there either.

UA, I just started watching and had to say that your assessment of Chef Ramsay is SPOT ON. We’ve eaten every GR restaurant in Las Vegas. You are one of the most intelligent and credible reviewers on the internet.
Another great review. I really enjoy your channel. There are so many reviews out there but what really makes yours great is quite simply, you. You have a great personality & yet ensure your videos are primarily about the food. Congratulations & best of luck with the channel moving forward
Here's a video idea. Go to a Korean BBQ restauant and spend the same amount of money as you would for a steak at a nice steakhouse and compare the experience: the price/to pleasure ratio, the amount of food you get (e.g. all the free side dishes you get at a Korean BBQ), and the dining experience. I love steak, too, but these kinds of prices are ridiculous for a piece of meat and some steamed/mashed vegetables.
I love Gordon Ramsey and his shows. Been to 2 locations of his and like most, the steaks were decent but there’s other better places with cheaper prices. His signature dishes and sides can be spotty. Sticky Toffee Pudding is definitely the best part. His desserts, wine selection and staff service are always great.
@@uaeatsHahaha yeah. More honesty, because that's what the video showed 100% and I don't blame you when quality steak, well cooked is involved. But I'm a bit stingy, I'll get scotch fillet from Aldi and go home and season it up with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper before blasting it in a cast iron skillet heated up until it's lightly smoking. That way it's AUD $15 to 20 for 500 grams, and I'm in heaven anyway. Although I do think about doing it on a grill for something different from time to time
One of the best steak experiences of my life was at Dokotah Steakhouse in Rapid City South Dakota. Worth a shot if you are ever in the area. I respect your honesty when reviewing big name restaurants and I look forward to seeing your channel grow. If I could give you some advice it would be to make some videos/reviews that tell us more about who you are and where you grew up. Thanks for all the great content UA.
I just came back from AC and tried Gordon's restaurant. I agree with the Wellington. Although it was good, it was missing some punch. The crabcakes were very nice. My wife had salmon with the Shrimp Risotto which was very nice. Overall a bit spicy, worth an experience.
Thanks for making videos again. I must say, Peter Lugar's is getting some high praise online but I enjoyed your honest review more. I'd appreciated this one as much so I can have a sneak peek into what to expect!
The prices in Atlantic City are definitely higher than they are in Las Vegas. As an example, the seafood tower for two is $109. A good steak should never need any steak sauce …
Great video, UA! I'll definitely check this place out next time I'm in Atlantic City, even though I'll have to take out a loan to eat there! Anyway, I'm always looking forward to your next video!
I was enjoying the video til you said Gordon Ramsay put beef wellington on the map...bro Julia Child made it popular in the 60's and it never went out of popularity.
Love your channel.. when you’re enjoying your food the look on your face is priceless.. Lol.. Old Homestead Steakhouse in AC is my favorite. The Gotham is incredible (Porterhouse)
New to your channel and love it because of the detailed and descriptive narration. Honestly, from looking at these Ramsay steaks, it feels like they could be mechanically tenderized. I could be wrong, but they look so soft that it couldn't be real.
The invisible rubber band is called caul fat (aka fat netting if you are an original iron chef fan). Food looks way better than I expected. Would be surprised if Ramsay has stepped foot inside of that restaurant more than 3 times after the 1st year it was in business.
I think I ran into you "almost" in jersey city the other day 😂. I was going to grab some hotdogs @ boulevard but if course there was no parking. Caught the light around the corner. That's when I noticed "you?" Walk across the street in front of my car. So cool 😆.
One thing I don't like about restaurants like that is the noise level. There's a steak place in Austin I know that has the best steaks but the noise level ruins the experience.
As I've said before, you and I usually agree on steakhouses. So, next time I'm in AC, I'll give it a go! It's a vacation week for me, so I may just wind up at Gallagher's as I have Broadway tickets. Thanks for another great review!
Gallaghers and a show, sounds like an amazing evening! And yep while Gordon Ramsay Steak was a bit overpriced I overall enjoyed it. I think it's worth trying!
I really appreciate your appraisal of the NY strip; I agree with your rationale for choosing it above the other cuts; I appreciate what you mean about the crust of grilled vs pan broiled, and I totally agree that if a steak is of fine meat and skillfully cooked, the various sauces are unnecessary. Now by the same token, if the meat in Beef Wellington is the same as in the steak, all the pastry and froufrou is even more inappropriate than sauce on a steak. Of course pan deglazed au jus or a beurre maitre d'hotel or anchois may often be appropriate, and like lemon in Italy may enhance a not quite perfect piece of meat. Oh. but Filet Sauce Bearnaise is so good. . .
You got it backwards. A ribeye is harder to cook than a filet, strip or sirloin steak, because of the high amount of fat that separates the fat cap from the rest of the steak. This can lead to the steak breaking apart and not cooking evenly. It’s why some places tie the ribeye together before cooking it. The easiest steaks to cook are always one solid piece.
Ribeye is easier to cook because of the fat as its easier to get tender, the fillet dosebt have tge fat so much easier to dry out, same as with turkey, harder to cook as most dry out because less fat.
@@mikeymike1854- You’re basically saying if you overcook your steak a ribeye will still taste good, because of the fat content. That’s true, but it’s easier to cook a NY strip, filet or sirloin evenly and at the desired temperature, because it’s one solid piece.
@@MrPatagonianFoxYou may be right regarding the doneness. My take though was more that ribeye is easier to make tasty, due to its high fat content and even if you overcook it a little it's still going to be juicy. Other cuts are not as forgiving
isnt there supposed to be a layer of parma ham in the wellington? could be why it seemed soo thin maybe? id of been gutted lol good review though very honest and had its up and downs rather than completely slating them or completely blowing smoke up their asses either 👍😂👍💪🏼
Not surprising they is no consistency with the Wellington..depends on the chef working that day, like any high end restaurant..you’ll only find uniformity at McDonald’s, and even then, some are better than others…
Thanks for giving it an honest review. Most people just can't get past the Price. Why can he charge what he does, because look at the place. there is always a full or near full house.
It’s hard to find beef welly, even in big cities. The few places that do serve it usually only serve it seasonally. Ramsay’s restaurants are the only places I know that always have it. Your right about the mashed potatoes, they are fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding is also fantastic.
Hey UA, I noticed that you often say things are "too steep" and such. Do you have a video of some kind of price guide for steaks when at restaurants or the butcher. I searched - but I couldn't find any.
Good question! It of course depends on the city and the quality of the restaurant, but I would say in NYC for example you should not expect to pay more than $70 max, even at a bougie place. The top end would be ribeye (and for $70 it better be a big ribeye), NY strip should be cheaper, then filet mignon, then everything else like sirloin etc. Btw $70 is a highhhh end for a very high quality ribeye. I would even say more like $60 is more fairly priced. As for the butcher, this depends on fluctuating meat prices and inflation etc, but I would say for a prime ribeye you can expect to pay about $20-25 per pound, and around $17-20 for a prime NY strip. For choice quality steak I would not pay more than $12-15 per pound max.
the trick to great new york strip is cutting part of the fat on the edge off, and dicing it. rendering the fat out in the pan, and then cooking the strip in its own fat making it absorb it like a sponge.
And it's so NOISY there. I couldn't go to a place for those prices with that much hustle and bustle. It sound like the Port Authority. You're right the crust is usually thicker on Wellinton.
Thx for the Cool review, Ive been curious to see ramsays restaurants and there's not many good vids about 'em. Maybe that has something to do eith with the Ramsay prices😅, even if i made super good money i might have to turn down a Ramsay ribeye. But the strip did look awesome.
That was a good review as always ! Pricing aside the strip steak look on point and a demi glaze on the plate look wonderful who needs steak sauce as far as the beef wellington you can keep it I want my filet mignon by itself itself on the plate don't need some pastry dough wrapped around it! Way overrated and hyped😮 oh and the bread like sleeping on a TempurPedic mattress so light and fluffy😂 I love good bread and butter before a steak and surf along with either french onion soup or lobster bisque prices were not too bad considering where you were you're paying for a real estate and the name
Great comment on the mustard in the steak sauce. Weird;; very weird with steak. I was wondering about the mustard on the side of the NY strip. Mustard omission great with pork and not so much for beef. Maybe that’s a Scottish/English thing but I never experienced that in England.
The best steakhouse I've ever been to is Del Frisco's in Las Vegas. I hope you get to do a review there and compare it with other steakhouses, especially this one.
i think NY strip is my favorite cut(although i've never had Filet mignon) i love making it with some bourbon pepper pan sauce(chef johns recipe) with mash potatoes and roasted asparagus but that steak does look amazing
Yes these days I buy my own steaks and Chops and cook them myself since I've been a cook for many years so not interested in making Gordon Ramsay richer than he is.
My preference is black & blue, this one lacks a good searing. The beef Wellington is on point. Enjoy the review. Less grimacing would be helpful, just IMO. Lol.
Prices are ridiculous. I can buy a wal mart steak and cook it and comes out looking just like that for less that $10. Crazy!!! No wonder Gordon so rich.
Hey U.A, the crew over here was wondering how much they would have jacked you for the A1 steak sauce had you chosen it over the complementary bowl ?!? BTW - for future reference, this particular casino isn't pronounced "Hoorah's" it is actually "Harrazz" Hope this helps Yo ! 🎭🎲 🔍
I am wondering - if that black stuff on the butter with the foccacia wasn't black salt? :) Or did it actually taste like poppy seeds? It does look like black salt to me :D Also! What is that egg-roe looking side "dip" next to the new york strip?? mustard or? :o I'm curious now :D
I've eaten at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas which is a bit noisier. Never had straight steak, I always go for the Wellington which seemed smaller in the video. Probably due to shrinkflation. 😂 Another great steakhouse is Prime at Bellagio in Las Vegas by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. They serve a trio of complimentary steak sauces, but their signature one is the bomb. 🤤
Okay UA. Nice video. But Gordon Ramsey did not popularize Beef Wellington. When I was 10 years old, I heard of Beef Wellington as one of those classic British dishes - and I didn't know that much. Beef Wellington, Baked Alaska, Pate, Pheasant under Glass, Chateaubriand for Two. Maybe cause I watched Gilligan's Island, if you know the episode.
This is my favorite steak house in Vegas among several other fantastic steakhouses. Yes, it’s pricey but I’ve never had a bad steak here…I believe 99 percent would agree it’s money well spent.
You need to get a miniature tri-pod that swivels your phone. Why don't you do this? Ransay didn't popularize Beef Wellington, my mother made it in the suxtues, seventies rtc. Julia Child used to make it too. It's an old dish. Cheers

@@MrPatagonianFoxYou may be right regarding the doneness. My take though was more that ribeye is easier to make tasty, due to its high fat content and even if you overcook it a little it's still going to be juicy. Other cuts are not as forgiving
Oh man, I'm having flashbacks the last time I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Good memories.
It's so good! One of my favorite desserts ever
isnt there supposed to be a layer of parma ham in the wellington? could be why it seemed soo thin maybe? id of been gutted lol good review though very honest and had its up and downs rather than completely slating them or completely blowing smoke up their asses either 👍😂👍💪🏼
UA is one of the best reviewers out there.. Keep it up!. UA is one of the best reviewers out there.. Keep it up!.
Thank you!
Agree
I genuine like your review , awesome
My favorite part is when UA takes his first bite, makes a face, and says, "Mmmm." Another great video review.
It's like a reverse Mark Wiens signature reaction. The better the food tastes, the smaller the eyes get.
Hey ua love your reviews have a ? About the new York strip what are those ball looking things next to the steak
What camera are you using now?
Not surprising they is no consistency with the Wellington..depends on the chef working that day, like any high end restaurant..you’ll only find uniformity at McDonald’s, and even then, some are better than others…
Im in Brazil(The Land Of Beef) cracking up over these prices.🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
UA's personality and voice, and the old-timey music together are UA-cam umami.
Thank you!
i knew a steak video was coming
Thanks for giving it an honest review. Most people just can't get past the Price. Why can he charge what he does, because look at the place. there is always a full or near full house.
It’s hard to find beef welly, even in big cities. The few places that do serve it usually only serve it seasonally. Ramsay’s restaurants are the only places I know that always have it.
Your right about the mashed potatoes, they are fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding is also fantastic.
For sure. Even in NYC only high end British style restaurants serve it consistently, one being Clocktower, a former Michelin star restaurant
@@uaeats , thanks for the benchmark.
Thanks UA, but now we need a place to get a decent stake at a reasonable price. Where? 🥩🤔
You should review his restaurants in London!
I actually plan to! Once I'm able to go full time with the channel I want to do a UK trip and one stop will be Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
I want to try the beef Wellington.
Some people call those "poppy seeds," "black salt."
the trick to great new york strip is cutting part of the fat on the edge off, and dicing it. rendering the fat out in the pan, and then cooking the strip in its own fat making it absorb it like a sponge.
What is that grainy looking stuff on the plate with the NY strip?
Wholegrain mustard
Great comment on the mustard in the steak sauce. Weird;; very weird with steak. I was wondering about the mustard on the side of the NY strip. Mustard omission great with pork and not so much for beef. Maybe that’s a Scottish/English thing but I never experienced that in England.
You make great videos, I really enjoy them!
Thank you!
The best steakhouse I've ever been to is Del Frisco's in Las Vegas. I hope you get to do a review there and compare it with other steakhouses, especially this one.
They actually have Del Frisco's in NYC. Maybe I'll try it someday!
I love Gordon Ramsay but those prices are absurd! Glad I have a sous vide at home to make my own. Save that money!
i think NY strip is my favorite cut(although i've never had Filet mignon) i love making it with some bourbon pepper pan sauce(chef johns recipe) with mash potatoes and roasted asparagus
but that steak does look amazing
Dude's forgetting about the big pile of caviar sitting right on his plate which easily costs at least $10
Anyone else worried about the woman at 6:11
Yes these days I buy my own steaks and Chops and cook them myself since I've been a cook for many years so not interested in making Gordon Ramsay richer than he is.
Looking. But not tasting.
What part of South Jersey are you from? Im from Vineland
I love a busy restaurant
I was wondering who you damn remind me of and I finally got it - you are the Birdperson from Rick and Morty! :D
I love your content!❤ CNN should recruit you.
Hey Brother,SunnyV2 mentioned you on his latest vod about Salt Bae
Price will be high bc of Gordon’s name and the casino. Too many people using casino comps…prices get inflated.
I am wondering - if that black stuff on the butter with the foccacia wasn't black salt? :) Or did it actually taste like poppy seeds? It does look like black salt to me :D
Also! What is that egg-roe looking side "dip" next to the new york strip?? mustard or? :o I'm curious now :D
You are right about that being black salt. And that is whole grain mustard seeds as a garnish.
@@mikeymutual5489 Oh I see! Thanks for confirming :D
Interesting!
UA Eats, you´re in Sunnyv2´s video about Salt Bae!
Cheers
