What is even more amazing is that Tim Foust has stated that Adam Rupp actually has the widest range in the group.

It's a beatboxer thing. Same is true of Layne Stein in VoicePlay.

@@shirleykarr560, and he is naturally a tenor, which is scary. It's a myth bass singers have narrow ranges... they actually tend to be wider than average - tenors tend to actually be the narrowest of male voices. Adam Rupp has hit both the lowest and highest notes recorded in their music.

I wouldn't doubt it! In fact, I actually suspect that he has one of (if not THE) widest ranges in music these days. Im convinced that he just hides it behind the "sounds". He's utterly REMARKABLE!!!

This is why Chance joining Home Free was so awesome. It allows Tim to explore his upper range, and Home Free knows they have a very competent bass to fill in for him. Chance carried the bass that whole song too. Your reaction when you heard Chance drop that note was priceless !!!.

Yes, This is the song with surprises. Home Free is so good. All the switches they do is amazing. Super sung. The Inhuman and Incredible Adam. Tim's high notes, (underrated)Chance's deep bass. Rob and Austin taking a different pitch too. Home Free is the group for me. They are so great, but still keep their own identity. No egos, no rivalry. I can really listen to HF all day long

Great analysis! This song is one of my favorites. This is why we ask reactors to wait to react to this song till they are familiar with the individual members. Then they are surprised at hearing the switch ups in the voices. Tim who is known for his bass can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. The original song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original range.

Chance was the bass singer in the group he was with before Home Free, Street Corner Symphony. You can see them in season 2 of the Sing-Off where they came in second place. He's usually baritone with Home Free since Tim already had the bass slot. But when Tim want to stretch his 5+ octave range and go an amazing tenor on us, Chance steps into the bass notes.

It was a b2. Normal note doubled up in production. Easy for any decent baritone to hit but cool effect. The eyes bulging out were a great reaction! Glad you liked it. These guys get better and better. They stuck to the original key that Cam the female singer did it in. There's so many great songs to review this time of year so I hope you take advantage. For holiday songs I recommend Do you Hear what I hear, Full of Cheer, Christmas ain't for the Lonely, Christmas in Dixie, Star of Bethlehem, Mary did you Know?, Warmest Winter, What Child is This and of course Alde Lang Syne for New Years.
Other non holiday songs that are less popular but awesome, Woman Amen/Female, Cover me Up, Moonshine, In the Blood, Hillbilly Bone, Country Road. Love em all!

It’s so good. It’s the ole switcheroo with Tim going high and Chance going low. Tim just showing off his 5 octave range and Chance was a bass in his other group so he can cover for Tim when Tim goes high. It’s so well done and Adam killed the beatboxing. Good reaction Daniel.😄

@Daniel Earnest -- A good way to compare things under a microscope is to stain the sample and/or change color and angle of illumination.
" Two COUNTRY Singers try singing OPERA - "Nessun Dorma" - Austin Brown and @Rob Lundquist "
N.B. -- Tim sang in the key and register of the original.
Also, I liken Tim to a bassoon which, piano aside, has the widest range in the orchestra. In fact, Home Free's best orchestrations are those that treat them as woodwinds.

I’m adding to the suggestions for Rob and Austin singing “Nessum Dorma” on Austin’s channel. I expect that Rob will blow your mind. Some other HF songs: “End of the Road “, Rob lead, and the soul just oozes from him. “I Can’t Outrun You “, Chance lead, 5 part harmony, and Chance directed the video. It’s hauntingly beautiful. Another Chance lead is “Cover Me Up”, an emotive performance by him. Since we’re heading to the Christmas season, “Do You Hear What I Hear “, arrangement by Adam Rupp. I never liked this song until I heard their rendition. “ Angels We Have Heard On High “, a beautiful, sophisticated arrangement. And a hidden gem , HF at the Hosanna concert 2013, “Joy to the World “. It’s a jazzy, funky rendition, Rob has the lead and he’s amazing. There’s even a beatbox breakdown by all of them.

Wow! I learned so much through your reaction. I've always noticed what you called “lens flares,” and thought how much it adds to the emotion of a piece of film. Do I understand you correctly that this effect can be added in post-production? If so, that blows my mind! You’ve heard it said, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” And I’m beginning to be able to discern between chest and head voice through your demonstration with your voice. It seems to me that in some reactions, reactors sing only because they like to hear their own voice. No so in your case - you use your own voice to teach. I appreciate your ability to convey complex vocal concepts so well that even a novice like me can understand!

I haven't heard any indication that you've seen the Vault series. As a videographer I think you'd really like and appreciate those videos. For the last couple years, usually on the first Monday of the month (skipping holidays like this month) they'll release a "making of" type video onto youtube. This last one from last month, for Mayday, is the 19th episode of the 'Home Free From the Vault' series. You can actually watch (speeded up) the guy in the camera rig filming what we see on screen. And the guys being goofy on the set or wherever they're filming, joking around while rehearsing or between takes. They're a lot of fun to watch.

Honestly believe if ya "listen" a few more times -- you'll hear even more out of AdamR, just sayin' :) Now, a few reactions back on HF -- you'd mentioned Tim performing bass and a lead part too, as in multi-track (Ain't Goin' Down...) ........ but, many times it's Chance on the bass; they switch off a good bit and really hard to tell the difference. These 2, Tim and Chance, have near the same range .. then ya add in AdamR, with his bass (yeah!) Like in Listen To The Music (kinda featured the freak!). Damn good stuff they have -- actually very RARE!!! Be Safe

  • @patriciamcl54
    @patriciamcl54 Рік тому

I actually prefer Tim's tenor range to his lower register. In Ring of Fire, for example, where Avi is guesting, Avi simply makes a more pleasant noise than Tim, and I can quite happily listen to him for an hour or so with pleasure, whereas if I had to listen to Tim's bass for an hour, I'd probably kill myself from sheer boredom. By contrast, here Tim produces a sweet sound with no sense of reach or strain. Tim occasionally sings high background vocals when Austin is leading, eg in A Great Day to be Alive, where he even points upwards to tell us that "Hey! That's me up there in the rafters!"
Range seems a particularly American obsession, treating various singers' ranges like football stats, as if singing were a competitive sport. Surely it's what you do with your voice that counts, rather than how high or low you can go with it.
Trivia corner: Cam, the original singer of Mayday, was doing the TV meet and greet at the CMAs just before this was released, and seemed very taken with the band. "Why don't you give us part of your latest?" she said merrily to very embarrassed looks at the thought. of singing her own song back to her. (At least the band looked good enough to eat apart from Chance, who is just not the right shape for a suit).
A very informative and entertaining reaction. Thank you.
