The addition of Chance to the group really gave Home Free a lot of new options. The fact that Tim sang no bass at all in this song is proof of their versatility. And Chance can also get up in that tenor range too. We all know that Tim has a 5+octave range, but Chance is no slouch with a 4 octave range. These men just cover so much ground that there's never a empty space. Their vocal ranges overlap so seamlessly that you never quite know what is going to happen next! ❤

I really can’t pick a favorite member of this group. They are all geniuses. I still marvel every time I hear them that we get the benefits of 5 of penultimate talents in one place. They are each incredible, and together, they amaze me every time.

This is the song that helped me understand how much these guys take advantage of each other's versatility. There's such a wide range of talent with each of them ... there's no question in my mind that they all beatbox, there are several counter tenors, five capable regular tenors, three and a half baritones and two epic basses there if they need it (possibly more). When they need a sound there's someone who can pull it off and someone else that can fill in ANY part seamlessly. I think that this is the key to the Home Free sound. They are a team that checks all the boxes - every time.

Adam's beat boxing was amazing and really made this song!
Although there would be no Home Free without the Rupp boys Adam and Chris after Chris left the addition of Adam Chance was a stellar addition.
His added base makes their sound so much more rich.
Their version of Take Me Home Country Road is so good.

@@DanFromHali Chris has a really nice voice and it was his vision that started Home Free and his tenacity that kept it going. That last thing is huge. So many a cappella groups had come and gone while Chris poured everything he had into this group. Some time you should go find the speech Tim gave about Chris on their last concert together. It gives you some insight into how completely respected and beloved he was (and is -- there's a reason they still do collabs with him). And there are older songs where Chris definitely drops down and takes the bass line while Tim is singing lead (I noticed it especially in the Butts Remix during Honkytonk Badonkadonk). But, his range is definitely on the higher side of baritone. He arranged a lot of their early songs. He knew what everyone's range was and how to take advantage of that. And he was happy to let others shine. Chris picked Chance as his replacement because he knew that was a gap that needed filled, especially if they wanted to take full advantage of Tim's whole range. I've got nothing but respect for him.

@@mettesrensen6116 And it's really deep, too! I love that Adam Rupp arranged it and was like, "Yeah, Chris can hit this really low note. And then I'll have him hit this ridiculously high note. And while I'm at it, let's let Tim drop 5 octaves in 5 seconds." The amount of confidence he had in his bandmates in that arrangement, man! Home Free's got swagger, but Adam Rupp is a whole other level of swagger.

  • @primalmojo9599

I was glad to wake up to this alert this morning, always good to start your day with Mayday! Glad you understood the intricacies of the arrangement, and I think you see now why so many of us said to wait a little bit first, so you knew their normal roles and ranges. I've seen so many reactors jump into it because people love the song (and for good reason!), and they like it, but the vocal exercise is lost on them because they don't really get just how far "out of the box" this song goes for many of them. And then the fact that it was done in the same key as Cam recorded it in, that's a big deal in itself, but they CRUSHED IT. It doesn't just sound good, it sounds amazing. Anyway, glad you got to see it and really appreciate it, and also that we got to share it with you. Great as always.

When you are looking at other groups, no one ever seems to react to one of my other favourites, and I've no idea whether it's because they are wrong kind of obscure, or whether their record company causes issues. They seem like they might be your kind of thing - do you know Runrig? They're a Scottish folk rock group, but their lead singer for the last 15 years of their career was Canadian. If it's not for you, then no harm.

@@brettmajeske3525 because i want to do reactions to songs that i feel will actually give me a reaction. Amazing Grace isn't one of those. I went out of my comfort zone to react to How Great Thou Art even when I said I had no interest in it... People kept requesting it.
The result were comments telling me I looked bored, accusing me of being unchristian, telling me to quit, etc. All because i reacted in a way they didnt like.
So I deleted the video all together.
With every passing day that goes by, more and more people seem like they aren't really here for my honest reaction, so much as they want me to say the same positive stuff that everybody says... And I am not about that. I am not going to force myself to have those gasp moments, or choreographed reactions.
Others do that, and a lot of other reactors, reacted to Amazing Grace and other such songs.
If I do them I would be uncomfortable as they are songs I dont have any interest in reacting to, which means any reaction I give would ultimately be disingenuous... And be a disservice to viewers, the song, and the artist.
      So I would rather not

@@DanFromHali Wow. I'm sorry that has happened to you.
I don't get why people say those kinds of things. It's your channel and you should react to what you want to with sincere interest.
Both of those songs are standards so why anyone would expect a particular reaction is a bit out there to me. Been there done that kinda thing.
Just so you know, I'm not going to be offended if you never get to my suggestions. Because there just that suggestions.
This makes me wonder if these reaction videos are a good idea.?
I watch because I enjoy sharing good music with others, laughter and smiles are contagious and good medicine for the soul.
You do you and know that at least one person out here is supporting you fully in doing just that.

    • @DanFromHali
      @DanFromHali  3 роки тому +1

@@brettmajeske3525 Right, you get it. And thats what I like too. I like having a smile, a laugh, talking about music... As much as hearing good vocals. Great vocals can only add so much to any song, Nevermind a standard.
Its the way a song is arranged, the chemistry of the artists, the little things they do to stand out.
The problem with standards is that, that is hard to do.
You can do it in front of the alps, and shoot the video with a drone, but it doesn't make the song any different.
And as good as the song is, that doesn't interest me.
And some people took that disinterest, as apathy toward Christianity, and got a little ugly. So I just want to do what I feel interests me. As well as discover new music.
So if you tell me Home Free has an original gospel song (so long as it has nothing to do with Snow or Christmas at the moment), I am way more inclined to say yeah, thats something I could do... Because hearing something new, will very likely get a reaction worth sharing, whereas hearing a song I have no interest in listening to done by even a great artist... Is still a song I am disinterested in.
Its the same reason why I didn't re-do my reaction to Seven Bridges Road, when I had a technical hiccup. I loved the song, loved the video, but I want to share a sincere and genuine reaction to a song. I don't feel like I can do that with something like Amazing Grace.

That's a shame. To each their own, I suppose. Not everyone is interested in Renaissance music. There's a lot of stuff that other people really rave about that does nothing (or less) for me, too, so there it is.

    • @DanFromHali
      @DanFromHali  3 роки тому +1

@@Smilodon1985 nope you get me wrong. Greensleeves is an amazing piece of music, and peter and tim do a great job with it... Its just, there really isn't much to add to it, they don't really make it there own. So outside of making a comment on peter and tim's vocals, there really wasn't much to react to.
It would be different if they did something new and fresh with it... But again its greensleeves. If you listen to the same amazing song over and over again, you are eventually going to run out of things to comment on, and it goes from being a great song where ___________ does __________... To Yeah it's a great song.
I want to react to music that isn't just great music. I want to react to music that will actually give me a reaction worth sharing. And unless you are going to do something new with a standard, chances are everything has been said already.

Hi Dan don't know if you have this on your list you should check out Adam rupp's drum solos live and I know they did snowglobe during their Christmas concert but to me that is year-round and could we sang anytime it has an important message. Tim is singing in his higher range and chance is doing the Baseline and they switch off when Chance is doing his solo Tim does the bass.
