If you saw it on PC, chances are it was modded in. Technically yeah it's possible, but you're more likely to get attacked by a shark while being struck by lightning. Ain't knocking em though, grind's awful for people who have no time.

Coincidentally, I got a Narga Medulla from Carve AND Quest Rewards just yesterday. I needed two, and this was after I started a fresh character after farming for 3 hours previously on a different character.
This isn't the saddest reward screen I've seen because when I replayed MH3 and finally beat Ceadeus all I got were literally 4 fucking scales. That was all. 4 scales.

idk I feel like the rng in general is even more generous on the pc version. I haven't played too much on switch but I feel like I am getting plates and gems left and right. beast and wyvern gems especially.
I'm the opposite, 2 time has it happened that I got 2 mizutsune plates and 1 mizutsune orb, in the same prize box, same deal happened but with zinogre, and while hunting bazelguese for the first time I thought he dropped an item after moving areas, turns out it was from the almudron that was in the area earlier, I got the golden almudron orb, this all happened within the span of about 12 quests, as someone who's only play mh4u and mh3u beforehand I was just dumbfounded how I didn't even have to try for these items compared to the sheer grinding I had to do in the old gens
Funny enough similar things are happening to me too. Stopped at HR6 on the Switch due to bad RNG. Thought I take a break and just ended up never playing again. Then I grind the same set I originally wanted on PC and all it took was about five hours.
This confirms that bad monster rewards = better charms, you can't convince me otherwise.

That talisman was secretly a quest reward for hunting the nargacuga. That's why you got no rewards, they were only half your rewards screen
