- Celebrating the release of the Fender '57 Custom Deluxe Twin, Nashville-based guitarists Patrick Sweany and Laur Joamets got the chance to demo this extraordinary amplifier and take in its sweet, singing tone and highly responsive dynamics.
"I'm an old-school guy, and I like those old-school sounds. I like to use those tones to write new music," said Sweany. "This is what you're supposed to plug into when you want that Twin sound."

Patrick Sweany and Laur Joamets Demo the Fender '57 Custom Series Twin Amp | Fender

That Laur Joamets guy is REALLY good!!
Sturgill must be missing him.
I know that this amp is from a particular "series" (being the '57 Custom), but it should noted that these rare small box Twin cabinets were more common between '55 and '56 . About half way through '57 Fender changed the cabinet back to the wider "big box" configuration that they were using in '53-54. Understandably, the small box design is slightly lighter to pack around, and these amps sound incredible regardless of how those speakers are sitting in there. The "low-power" Twins have that tube compression and sag that is really nice for playing jazz. Amazing machine. ;)
i just got one of these. Sounds killer. Just like in the vid. Loud AF but sounds great low volume as well.
Keep pressing all those boutique manufacturers. This is the real deal.
Damn, Laur must be loud as hell to get that Twin to break up like that!
Shop link in the description isn't working :/
They're using an SM-57 and what's the other mic? Is that a Beyerdynamic M 130?
If you are in the netherlands, look up Tube King, they make fender like amps and cost half the price of these! (got a tweed twin from them myself)
absolutely love the sound of this amp! @ 0:51 why does a human doing the work make all the difference in the world? And why is handwired a more stable true platform to run your pedals? In general, I've seen way more spotty human soldering than I have machine soldering. Sorry, but can't help but poke at the "justification" to get a handwired amp. Again, this amp sounds fantastic to me, so HW or not, it is on my list to try!
What's that lick at 1:08? Sounds like Johnny Cash "I've been everywhere" but I'm sure it's been used in 100 songs.
Workin Man Blues by Merle Haggard I believe
@@hunterfontaine5832 nice! Coming through on a 3 year old question! Thanks
so I wasn't alone in thinking if you did that while johnny cash was sitting next you, he'd have found something to sing to it!
Does anyone know what tele is being played here?
It looks to be a custom shop Telecaster. Likely a mid-60s era model with a solid maple neck.
A true reliable stable platform is likely a solid state amp. I don’t buy tube amps for reliability or stability, I just like the dirty sound.
I don’t know how he can stand being in the same room as that monster. Seriously I’d be afraid of hearing damage. Sounds sublime though!
I have a Fender Mustang Micro and this is my favourite amp on it 🥰
Is that a freaking octobass in the back?
Wonder how these amps run with an attenuator ...
I'm wondering too. Specifically an Ox box
Daniel Cannon they should run well especially with the ox box.
I have one of these. I can't get any dirt out of it without pedals. Just a loud muddy mess.
Grow a set of balls and crank it
$3000 for a simple Deluxe circuit, assembled in Corona's Custom Shop with foreign made parts. Get one and immediately take to have it re-capped. For the money you're better off getting your Tweed from Speed Shop, Carl's, Tungsten, Kendrick K-Spot, Carr Rambler, Magic, Clark, Victoria or pick up an old Brian Cox(RIP) amp. Better parts and components, better amp.
You obviously don't know what the 5E8A Low Power Tweed Twin is. What it is NOT is a Deluxe circuit. Do some simple research before posting wildly inaccurate information. 🤨
Teriffic sound
Jesus Loves You
P2P is a myth and this dude is perpetuating it. I don't blame Fender. If idiots want to pay the price for P2P, I'd build it too.
The person who captioned this was getting blitzed. It started out good then… it became an incoherent mess.
What does hand wired have anything to do with having a good pedal platform? Matter of fact what does hand wired have anything to do with anything except that its hand wired?
Stop perpetuating misinformation to try to sell products. Just give people the truth. If its quality for a good price people will buy it.
Amen, dude. Point to point only makes an amp easier to fix....and easier to break. lol
its marketing bullshit. as you can see people are stupid enough to fall for it. If you told them Leo rose from the grave and wired it himself they would believe it
i beg to disagree. handwired makes a huge difference & is why ive always relied on my blackface & silverface fender amps over the years. they are easy as shit to repair, lots of times you can trouble shoot the problems yourself without taking it in to a tech & they hardly ever fuckup. pcb surface mount amps are just a nightmare & semsative to heat from the tubes.
If price is what youre worried abt either buy an old amp & update or you can build one of these in a kit for pretty damn cheap.
CrazyCow500 Please explain how to mass manufacture putting glass tubes in an amp? Do you really want a machine doing that? It’s a delicate process that can only be done by hand. If you want a circuit board built amp it will not have the same warmth and organic dynamic range. The hand wiring has to do with the Delicate nature of the components that produce the vintage tones.
$3,000 for a 40 watt amp. yep I'm convinced the people at Fender are smoking crack
You're paying for all the labor, I believe.
its a scam. only a moron would pay that.
They all sold and at the end of the day that's what matters when you're in business.
$3000? Are you serious? It didn't cost Fender $200 to make it.
It sold out in like a day. that's why
you can make one for around $150 and it will sound the same
PhuckHue2 I'd like a link to those plans please and thank you
You can make these for $150?
I'll take fifty.
+LARRY and you really believe that? how much do you think somebody earns building that amp together and how many hours it takes? besides costs for the hardware incl. speakers, etc.
$200 is pretty delusional
