Only available at Chicago Music Exchange! The Fender Custom Shop built a limited run of Champ 10 Relic amps, specially hand-aged by Master Builders Shawn Greene and Jim Dolmage. The amp starts with a ’57 Custom Champ chassis and a custom-made solid pine cabinet designed to house a larger 10-inch speaker. Then the magic begins, with each hand-finished amp bearing a specific “back story” as to how it ended up with its own distinct wear and tear.

To me this is one of the coolest concepts I've seen in a while. I love the way they gave them a backstory. Who cares that they're 4k? It's not like I'm planning to buy one and by the looks of it neither is anybody here. We should just appreciate the creativity of them instead of bashing it over the price
I was not expecting that Sleep riff.
Is this April Fools Day?
$4,000 MF dollars for a Fender Champ?
Shark, you've been jumped, son.
not yet.. there are still quite a few fools waiting to be separated from their money. If fender, couldn't sell a champ for $4k, they wouldn't try.
LOL
You can buy a legit 1950s champ for less money..
Actually being rich is not required, only stupid. They will gladly help you finance at 29.99% over 48 "Easy" payments. So at the end of 4 years you've actually paid nearly $7,000 for this little gem. Suddenly a $300 used Blues Jr or even a Peavey Classic 30 sounds amazing.
@@wilson4180 2-3 of them.
Awesome rendition of Mama Tried.
I turned twenty-one in prison!
Before everyone gets all riled up about relic'd amps keep in mind that the Fender Custom Shop is about making unique pieces that don't always put practicality front and center. It's about having something truly unique. I will say that, of the set, I love the corrections one. That's a great nod to country music history!
I love CME and these seem like sick amps but $4k is a Gibson-style slap in the face lol. Give me a break.
Clearly these amps are not intended for your average bedroom musician. Like the typical Tone King type boutique amp which are often priced in this ballpark, they are for working guitarists who want a specific sound and don't mind paying to get it.
There are lots of working guitarists that can’t swing it, and a lot of cheaper ways to get the sound. Like I said, cool stuff, but priced for rock stars.
@@marike1100 lol no working guitarist will ever own this piece of shit over priced garbage
all in the hand of the customer - don't buy that shit and next time they reconsider. That's amp is max worth a couple of hundred bucks. And it sounds crappy.
Sam Hill rich dude toys, and the whole "ye olde replica" thing is super-corny. Dude dressed as an incarcerated person in a cage? Seriously, wtf (what the Fender) were they thinking?
I am not sure but I think you can buy an original 1950s champ around $2500. But these sound great and look awesome if money is no subject! Also, these are mind boggling marketing strategies that might put the industry in a bubble. Recently, we have seen a $12,000 1958 Slash Les Paul, now $4,000 champ. When I bought my 59 reissue in 2014, I thought that was a lot of money:)))))
For the Slash model you're actually paying more for the collectibility of the instrument and Slash's signature... As far as these amps, i see it as a more reliable way to get a really vintage sound, the old ones might be cheaper, but might also break down after an hour of playing, these are new "old sounding" beasts, and if they break you have warranty and all, i don't think you can reclaim the warranty of a 50 year old amp ;) hahaha
Luis Coll the old fender amps are actually really simple to service. If they didn’t have the electronics melted inside!
I didn’t know it was April 1st already!
Enough about the amps - let's all enjoy Nathaniel being an incredible player. Could listen to him all day.
smwatson1512 cheers mate!
Two years later and this is still an underrated comment. I’m a total old-school country fingerstyle wannabe and pretty much EVERY new gear purchase I’ve made in recent years has been inspired, to some degree, by one of his demos. The most recent was a ‘57 Custom Tweed, directly because of this video. Not sure if you’ll see this but thanks for all ya do, Nathaniel!
N22 really do a great job 👍 Champs are the champs, of course)
They are actually relicing amps now? .....

Hey they make these at the custom shop in my hometown, nice!
Hi,
I have two Custom Shop Champ Amps. Paid over $3k each. Best money I have ever spent.
They say if you have to ask what it cost, this is not for you. And now they are selling online used for over $4k. How high will they go?
Orange is the new tweed,
Yup using one now tried many and I mean many, said to myself let me try one of these and im really happy with it and it's not one of the more expensive model's either, I do love the rverb mkiii and will get one sooner or later but ain't getting rid of what I'm currently using nor will I spread myself thin getting one, because of what I got is so good. It can literally handle anything well not kinda and it rules , I've tried so many amps not just cheap ones looking for tone versatility and simplicity, without losing the feel of the amp touch sensitivity and character in any tone I set. Orange rules and im not a biased person I care about what I hear not namebrands looks or anything like that.
Jack Wallace * sounds like you're the happy owner of CR120 pro head 😉
Don't want to be the basher here, the amps sounds very good but of course they are going to be overly expenses if they have this kind of aging. I understand it is fun to do but do we really need it ? Instead of spending hours thinking and doing that kind of aging they could save on that and so being able to sell them for way cheaper, focusing only on the sound and components.
Guitar players today hear with their eye's. Sad
Relic stuff is like rolling around on the sidelines to get grass and dirt on your uniform so your Mom thinks you got in the game
I don't mind reliced guitars but reliced amp stickers are a bridge too far.
man those are really neat.
I've got a 57 Eric Clapton vibro champ and a vintage 66 black face with JBL's oh my the juice is nice
They sound great, but I'm not a fan of the relic style. If I'm buying a new amp, I would rather it look new. The same goes for guitars. I have no issue with actual used stuff looking used, though...
Anyone knows whats the song on the beginning? Or is it original from the player?
is the melted candle comes with the amp? what a bargain! I'm sure it adds warmth to the sound!
I like the sound of a 10” speaker in the 57 Custom Champ, but I’m not a fan of relicing, especially considering the added cost associated with it. Would be cool to hear one of these compared to the standard 57 Custom.
Anyone know what mic is amping the Two Hours Later scene? It sounds great
They sound ok, but so does my 57 RI Champ with 8" speaker. Why do these limited reissues have 10" speakers? Anyone?
I mean, this is neat - but I'm just trying to figure out why they dont make a general production no bells/whistles Champ with a similar feature set for under $600.00. They'd sell a million of them.
Is it still a champ if it’s not an 8 inch?
$4k????? Crazy. I'm perfectly fine with my 8" 57RI champ... Which costs way less than $1k used these days...
That's a theme!!
Nice little amp I love my 63 tweed champ. Would I pay twice as much for a reissue?
Mama tried I guess
Like if you get it
Why is he in jail?
Merle Haggard, & Luther Perkins chicka boom!
He tried to steal money because no one can afford that amp
Percy's Guitars and Amps * He wanted to buy one of these fender amps but couldn't afford one so he robbed a bank ! Funny thing is the teller only gave him $2700 bucks , not enough to even get this amp let alone the guitar too 🤣 fuck fender acting like Gibson.
reliced amps? I think we have gone too far now! They sound good though.
where have u been?? reliced amps started years ago
Nonsense - especially with Tweed it makes all the sense in the world. And it will come, so get over it.
Ehh if it keeps the collectors away from driving the prices up on the real vintage amps, I'm fine with it
Paul Manafort signature model? 😄
wait.. are these named after stickers?
This project feels like a heat test.
you can get a hand wired Victoria 5112 (champ copy) for about $1k.
Fender we just want an affordable Jim root Jazzmaster. 1500 dollars is ridiculous. Half the price of it and make it in the custom shop finish he has. Not hard to make the fans happy
BigStarch96 * No it's not difficult to make the fans happy, but if they did that then they wouldn't have any more customer according to the marketing research at fender.
3:00 Re the "Deadhead", IIRC, I don't think Jerry or Bob used a Champ....
what's a first lick? I
I think the two guys from Trading Places made a $1 bet...
Why would someone destroy those amps like that?
Man if it comes with tabs for those first two songs, it’s worth 4 grand.
What songs are they
@@Nico-lq8ik The first is an arrangement of Mama Tried. The other is a Johnny Cash song.
Benjamin Bailey mama tried by Merle and Folsom Prison by Cash
@@User-es2yz thank you and also you benjamin
i don't think had tube guitar amps in prison. calif or anywhere else..... whats up w/ the cdc thing? signed ...b824xx
Merle Haggard spoof
We're doing the reliced amp thing now? Who the hell buys a $4000 reliced amp? They sound great but jesus.
You know what you could get for $4000 instead of this ? Try a top of the line hand made Swart ST45 with accompanying 2X12 Cab. This is just comical for Fender to make these.
$4000 huh. Hmmm. I think not
If I pay an extra $1,500 up-charge, will you spill beer on it, and give it a few "authentic" cigarette burns before shipping it out. I really want the genuine experience. I don't mind paying the premium price because i'm just ridiculously rich, and the way I got to be so rich is by making numerous impulse spending decisions in an attempt to satisfy a mountain of personal inadequacies.
It's all about the 10" speaker, get a champ and shove a 10" alnico jensen p10r f in it...or an Eminence GA10..any Champ.
y tho?
S.O.B.....
those of us that actually play shows can't afford shit
should've had a "closet classic" style in the range for cheaper
I can get a real 50's tweed champ for like 1500 bucks. cmon guys
For people with more money than sense
What's the message? İf we buy, we will go into jail?
I have no doubt that there are at least 10 wanna-be collectors who can afford an amp that they will never play because it's too expensive.
Personally, I think the whole aging process is the stupidest thing ever. What else? Rappers with fake bling. Do the damage yourself or know what your getting into by buying something that's got miles on it. If you come home in a clean uniform then you weren't in the game.
The amps do sound great though, or is it really the guitarist?
I'm in the process of building a Tweed Princeton that's going to sound as good if not better than this for ~$500. $4k my ass.
Noice
First of all... Do they FINALLY have 6V6 in the Power section ? & ... Yeah, Waaaaay INSULTING for "Fender" to Sodomze The customer base.... THAT ACTUALLY PLAYS !!
This makes perfect sense with how fake the world has allowed itself to be with things like face book and shit like that where any one can appear to be something they are not. $4,000 for fake ass shit, makes perfect sense.
That amp goes great with a $2000 relic tele from Nash Guitars....
Fender, please stop trying to recreate past circuits with a new look. Why don't you try to design a new circuit that is similar to these tweeds with high end parts and point to point? Obviously you are trying to appeal to people have some money to spend. Would it be too much to ask for a new amp that isn't total crap and isn't copying something Leo designed 60 years ago?
Or buy a real vintage Tweed Deluxe
Oh no. These amps are hard "yikes!" Please stop with this crap, guitar industry. Please just stop.
SLEEP !!!
Garbage amps. Give a 150$ peavey classic vt anyday.
A Fender Champ is a garbage amp? What a stupid comment!
Well it's no firebird x yet but it's surely a waste of 4 grand
