Thank you! Trying to remove them now. They will just make a new profile though. Really hoping for some help from UA-cam soon with this
I just removed and reported one now
oh I think that just happened to me! Thank you!
I've been getting that alot on other reaction channels.
Me too. Knew it was a scam, but glad you put out the warning!
You guys would also like "Our House". This "group" just listed their names because they didn't feel themselves to be group in the common sense. They enjoyed playing together, they composed and performed amazing music and, and when Neil Young wanted to sit in, they just added his name.
"Our House" is a very very very fine song. :)
There were also three albums that were just Crosby/Nash and one by the Stills/Young Band.
@@Shrykespeare 😁
@@Shrykespeare With Three Cats singin' the lines
Our House was written by Graham Nash when he was living with Joni Mitchel. They had just come home, Graham sat at the piano and wrote about the moment of their arrival.
"The song originated from a domestic event that took place while Graham Nash was living with Joni Mitchell (and her two cats) in her house in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, after they had gone out for breakfast and had bought an inexpensive vase on Ventura Boulevard. Nash wrote the song in an hour, on Mitchell's piano."
Their use of Lyrical (Poetic) "Alliteration” in this song is both brilliant and magical.
yes, hopelessly hoping...wordlessly watching etc.
Why did you put alliteration in quotations when you couldn't be more correct that their lyrics in this song are the epitome of the definition?
@@DianaJG8 haha I wondered the same thing!
@@janicetrimmell6897 “love isn’t lying it’s loose in a lady who lingers…”
@@goldboy150 That's so perfect.
RIP David Crosby!! Such a group of talent! ❤️. Thank you for this!!! Actually one of my favorites. Those harmonies!!!! Priceless!!!
it's been a very weepy week for me. So sad, although I don't think that's what David wanted. He loved doing what he did and wanted us to savor and enjoy it. I'm working on getting there.
I had the privilege of seeing CSNY in the Boston Garden in the early 2000’s with my mom (who introduced me to them) I liked their sound and harmony, but seeing them live was one of those experiences I’ll never forget.
My favorite song by Crosby, Stills and Nash. Haunting and moving. RIP David. You will live forever through your music.
I've got this same message a couple times and have just assumed it was fake. Too bad they try to cause problems with people just trying to enjoy music together.
Guinevere also.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Marrakesh Express"!!!
When you get back to CSN&Y, you'll love their "Our House", "Carry On", "Find The Cost Of Freedom" and "Deja Vu"!!!
edit- from 1969-1987 Neil Young was only on 1 studio album, 1 live album and 1 compilation album with CSN. Very briefly with them btw '69-'70 and '74-'75(during their classic period). fyi, Boston's harmonies were all done by lead singer Bradley Delp on the first 3 studio albums.
Carry On and Deja Vu should definitely be on the listen list.
@@robynsmith3040 Carry On from 4 Way Street! Nothing better!
Home Free does a beautiful rendition of this song. I love this original version because it embodies the times and the essence of the band at that particular time in history. Chills!
Yes!!! Check them out on this song, plus many more
As a Home Fry, I must agree that you should check out Home Free's a cappella version of this song. This version is great, but IMHO Home Free's version is even more so.
Yes! I was also going to suggest they check out Home Free's cover.
Home Free does a Beautiful rendition of Everything they Try
1st song I ever heard by them was "Man Of Constant Sorrow" :}
"Almost Cut My Hair" is a CSNY song that David Crosby takes lead vocals on. Great jamming song. "Helpless" is one that Neil Young sings lead on. Both are from their first album featuring Young (2nd in their discography if you consider CSN and CSNY the same band) titled "Deja Vu". Some really great songs on that album
"Almost Cut My Hair" & "Helpless" are two of my faves!!
I thought that was Stephen Stills on lead on that song
Agreed 100%. "Almost Cut My Hair" is such a staple of the times. Fantastic song. Phenomenal album.
You forgot about his brilliant Country Girl tune finishing off deja Cu!
"If you smile at me, I will understand, because that is something everybody every where does in the same language." Rest in Peace David Crosby
Their harmonies are truly second to none. They just match so perfectly and they need no over dubs. It's like pieces of a puzzle. Different shapes but together make the perfect picture.
I think Young came in on the second album playing on some songs so they added his name. He brought a more electric sound to the group and some edginess.
There are overdubs in this song. Stephen Stills voice can clearly be heard double tracking. Oher multitrack tricks are done here also. The studio magic still cannot compare to CSN's raw talent though. I have loved CSN since I bought this album on its initial release.
@@jjsoundguy, thanks. They did sound as great live as they did on record I guess is what I'm trying to say.
“I love music. I love making songs. I feel like I’ve been given a path where I can contribute, where I can protest if somebody does something really obviously wrong or inhuman right in front of me, where I can make a difference. Where I can most especially elevate, make you happy, elevate the condition, elevate the thing.” David Crosby.
Rest in Peace.
CSN alliteration in this song is so brilliant!
1 person
2 alone
3 together
4 (for) each other...🙏❣️
I heard "free together"...
@@kevinlcarlson all the lyric’s have the number 3. and it makes sense with how he is naming off numbers in order.
I'm sorry but that's not what alliteration is. The alliteration in this song is like:
Helplessly Hoping her harlequin hovers
or
Love lying loose lady lingers lost
And now you know. Cheers!
My favorite part too and I love to sing along right there!
For me personally this was one of the first bands to have such a high level of harmonies. This song is a perfect example of that. Their harmonies are almost angelic. The words are exceptional as well. They were a true force of nature.
Glad you’re paying tribute to David Crosby. While “Helplessly Hoping” is a great song, Crosby wrote “Guinevere”. The live version with Crosby & Nash on the BBC is intricate.
Then there Crosby’s first solo album “If I Could Only Remember My Name”. You’ll particularly like “Laughing” and “Music is Love”.
The Bee Gees and CSN harmonies are different. Each unique and beautiful.
Grateful Dead has some amazing harmonies like the song Box Of Rain. The Dead was coached on their harmonies by CSN when the were making the Working Man's Dead album in a neighboring studio. And then the Dead continued with a lot more harmonies in their songs. CSN/Y is the best imo.
Amber, I think with the harmonies of the Gibbs brothers, they blend so well because they are family (genetics). I’m sure you’ve heard of fathers and sons or brothers having a very similar voices (tones). With Crosby, Stills and Nash you can hear each individual voice because they have different tones. They all blend well in their own way!
The late David Crosby once said that he and Graham Nash decided early on that they would not sing harmonies in "major triads" like most groups did. That is one thing that provides their unique sound. Nash once told an interviewer "We don't have a monopoly on the notes, but NOBODY sounds like David, Stephen, and me when we sing together." Love this song - you really can't go wrong with CSN or CSN&Y. Great reaction again Jay and Amber.
RIP David Crosby. 😢There will never be another voice like his. He left us with some beautiful tunes. ❤
I've always loved the story of how they started singing together. They were all at Cass Elliott's house and Steven and David played a new song they'd just written (You Don't Have To Cry). Graham said "play it again", so they did. Then Graham asked them to play it a third time and he joined in on the high harmony. And thus greatness was born.
Oh you NEED to watch Home Free’s version of this. It is one of two of their master class of harmonies.
Fantastic Stephen Stills composition with his lead vocal. Graham Nash on this exquisite high harmonies and Crosby expertly filling the space between.
Wooden Ships is one of their best songs and one of the best songs in rock in general. The musicianship in incredibly good.
If you're thinking of the studio version of the song, from their first album, the musicianship you refer to is Stills and Stills alone.
One of the most beautiful, building choruses ever . . .
They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other
My absolute favorite CSN song. Those harmonies hit heartstrings.
This song gets me in the feels every single time, and I don't know why, maybe except because it's just beautifully done and I agree with Amber.. they are heads and shoulders above the Bee Gees, in my opinion. Thanks guys... another great reaction!
"Delta" is one of my favorite David Crosby songs. It's very languid and beautiful. So not good for a "banger" day. "Guinevere" is good too. David loved his alternate guitar tunings. "To the Last Whale" is a great song from the time when Crosby + Nash were working as a duo.
Young was in and out of the band. “Ohio”is a great song that has the 4 of them
I'm with Amber, they are my favorite harmonizers of all time, and this song is my favorite harmony. You can see the layers unfolding in the chorus when Stills starts it off with one person in his midrange vocal, then Nash adds the two alone high part which sounds great, but it isn't complete until Crosby adds that three together deep rich bottom and they are for each other. My pleasure to see them 3 times, the harmonies live were amazing. Love you, David.
Joni Mitchell Circle Game has rift at the end of this song! They were all great friends!! Joni couldn’t go to Woodstock but watched her friends playing there on tv! That is when she wrote the song Woodstock!Much Love ❤❤❤❤❤
This song shows the perfect simplicity yet complex beauty of their harmonies. ♥
Wooden Ships - best line ever: “If you smile at me I will understand, Cause that is something everybody, everywhere does in the same language”.
Of all the great harmonies of CSN, this is my favorite. Just magical.
You should check out "Just a Song Before I Go". It was written in the back seat of a cab by Graham Nash after the cab driver challenged him to do it during a ride to the airport.
Every time I hear this tune, the original or a cover, I lament that it's so short. I want more! These three worked very hard on their vocals, knowing that they had three vocal instruments blending with the guitars. Home Free's cover is worth a listen.
@Gerald H Agreed!
If you want to understand the difference between CSN and CSNY then you must listen to the “Deja Vu” album from 1970. If you’re particularly interested in Neil Young’s contributions then listen to “Helpless” and “Country Girl”.
Both of these such amazing songs
The voices are mixed in the song so that there is one in the middle, one on the left, and one on the right. That's one reason they can be heard so well individually. CSNY with Neil Young did a song called "Carry On". Check it.
A week later still hasn't gotten any easier.
The beautiful harmonies are going to be in my mind forever, with perfect alliteration. One of the greatest poetic and musically well produced albums ever. RIP David. 😪😪💕💕Thanks for the memories. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I heard Graham on Public Radio last week say that when he first sang with Crosby and Stills at Joni Mitchell''s house, he knew he had to follow that sound. He left the USA and met with the Hollies to tell them he was done.
I'm almost 70, had there pictures out of the teen mags at the time in my bedroom along with everyone else of that time, Stephen wolf, Sonny and Cher, Mama's and Papas, Jim Hendrix ,Janis Joplin, Beatles and on and on and on...so glad this was the music of my youth . The new music of the 2000 can't compare! Some good but back then THEY WERE ALL GREAT! And all partaking as well we their fans which enhanced their music even more so. Geez you get a contact high at the concerts back then...lol Listen to Zeppelins production ,the panning back and forth on headphones, speakers laying on the floor. What do you think that was done, besides being clever, long Drum solos, guitar solos ..ALL for the experience while under the influence. Great memories...music that still holds strong today when played ,and we're older and straighter ...lol
Mesmerizing harmonies. And the picking of the acoustic guitar is perfect! No need for elaborate sounds. The vocals are enough.
It's great to journey back with you. A memory shared is new again.
Alliterations are always altogether amazing!
Amber & Jordan, First of all, Rip to this iconic legend of a man who was the founding member of the Byrds & Crosby, Still & Nash. My condolences & sympathies go out to the Crosby Fam. Gone but will always be remembered by his fam, friends & fans around the world. God Bless The Crosby Fam.!!!
I say this is one of the most beautiful songs ever! When I say that I mean like the top 1% of the top 1%.
❤❤❤❤❤I love this song. Makes me tear up. So beautiful. I’ll miss David Crosby and his voice.
Yes, so beautiful ❤
His voice was so often in the background but his influence in the lyrics and music was front and center.
Another example of the genius of Steven Stills...This was my late mother's favorite song from CSN. I loved it as well. And I quite enjoyed teaching myself the guitar parts.
Rest In Peace David
Neil Young was in Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills. He was later asked to sing on the album “Deja Vu.” He was like a guest star and floated in and out of the band. He had a lot of music in his head and liked to be on his own. As a young man he had polio, diabetes and epilepsy. On a different note, I would like to see you react to some early Bee Gees, like “I Started a Joke.”
A lot of bands sing in unison, but few have the actual harmonies of CSN(&Y).
The chorus
They are one person
They are 2 alone
They are three together (she's pregnant)
They are for each other
The verses use a classic poetic form of alliteration, the repetition of a consonant sound like
Wordless watching he waits by the
Window and wonders
Or
Heartlessly helping himself, etc.
Thanks for reacting to this one.
Their second album included Neil Young. If you want to hear his voice specifically, he does the lead vocals on “HELPLESS”.
Great reaction to an even better song. CSN&Y "4 way street" is an awesome album. You would absolutely love Home Frees' take on "Helplessly Hoping" since you're both home fries!
Love this. "JUST A SONG BEFORE I GO" please. It's a short song but it's the kind you close your eyes and listen.
While on a ski trip back in the early 70’s I found this album in the lodge and played it. I’d never heard anything like it before. What immediately struck me, was not only their beautiful harmonies but the poetic alliteration. It is poetry set to music.
It’s time to listen to Ohio. This is CSNY with Young having wrote the song after seeing the Life magazine cover of a shooting victim from the Kent State shootings. Powerful song.
One of the reasons why their harmonies are so unique is they share singing the melody when they're singing harmony. If you listen carefully, you can hear it move between the 3 of them as they're singing, especially on the chorus.
I am one who sings harmony and can definitely pick out all three voices and have sung them with my brothers and sisters...I am the oldest of 8! Their harmonies are not just singing a higher or lower of the same melody...they are singing definite and dissonant harmony...they were unique, and pull the voice right out of my lungs!
Love these guys!! Deja vu is one of the best albums ever!! Love, Almost Cut My Hair, David sings lead but Neil young’s guitar is sooo great and different!!!
That what was what we grew up listening to, Rob Squad. It was a very strong part of our youth. We draw back to it the same as you are drawn to it now, Thank you, Rob Squad.
For me, this is the best 3 part harmony track ever!
I recently recommended this song and I'm so happy and grateful you reviewed it! Whenever someone wants an example of a song with great harmonies I always recommend this song!
The next CSN song I'd love for you to review is "Wasted On The Way." Thanks for reviewing this song!!
The alliteration in this song is wonderful.
One reason The Bee Gees sound is harmoniously similar is by being brothers their voices have the same timbre….were as CSN are 3 distinct voice timbres
I’m a sucker for beautiful harmonies.
What most seem to forget is that when these guys first came out in the late 60's early 70's there was the hippie movement, the get back to nature movement and blue eyed soul. There was also commune living and these guys were a group of choice for those folks. Many of their songs were written for the grassroots people specifically and generically for the rest of us. And with their off the charts harmonies they could of used any old instrument and found success. These guys influenced whole generations of musicians.
“OHIO”
Is a very serious song and “message “!!
Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young!!
Here’s one where you get “Neil Young “ too!!
You were saying you wanted to hear him too!!👍
I learned how to sing harmonies by singing along with each of their individual voices. You can hear each of them so clearly.
Another wonderful song by Stills.
******* NEIL YOUNG joined the band in 1969, just in time to perform at the WOODSTOCK Festival.
Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young;
Crosby & Nash
The Stills-Young Band
and solo albums from all four of them
When they were first going out on the road, they felt they couldn't play a lot of their songs because Stephen Stills played so many instruments and obviously he couldn't do that live. David Crosby auditioned Neil and David said Neil played him 4 of the best songs he'd ever heard (written by Neil). That's when Neil was added. Neil is a genius. He took them to an even higher level.
Amber you said it perfectly once again "they enter your heart, they enter your soul " you guys are the best.. love you guys keep on keeping on
The superb harmonizing from each of Crosby, Stills, and Nash was due to their each coming from bands where harmonies were a key element of their sound - Nash from The Hollies, Crosby from The Byrds, and Stills from Buffalo Springfield. They also were at the back end of an era where experimentation with vocal harmony had been going for a while, complex harmonics in unusual keys and tones had been developed, and the foundations for a lot of what they were doing had been worked out. Listen to The Byrds "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better", The Hollies "Carrie Ann", or Buffalo Springfield "On The Way Home" to hear where they came from.
Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Taylor and Reeves? That’s what my memory gives me but yes, favorite album this one.
CSNY and CSN are an awesome sound, brought together by the desire to give us great harmony. Each individual has had great careers and together a force….
What separates CSN's harmonies from all others is that the harmonies are front and center, the music is simply a soft background. Most harmonies tend to compete with the vocals to hide certain imperfections.
Both iterations of the band are excellent listening!!!
Classic Steven Stills tune. Check out “ Four and Twenty” by him and them on the Deja Vu album.
“ Guinevere” is Crosby’s masterpiece along with Wooden Ships ( cowritten by Stills and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane. )
These beautiful harmonies in HH are very folky bluegrass like.
Young came in on the Deja Vu album.
Deja Vu is where Neil Young comes in. Crazy good album from start to finish.
As noted earlier, Stills and Young played together in Buffalo Springfield. Stills has said that he and Young were like brothers in music. A guitar players, the worked together in an organic/complimentary way. The were both equally adept on electric and acoustic guitars. Plus Neil is a prolific songwriter so he brought a lot to the CSN table. On the other hand, like some brothers, they would have some tensions/fights. When they were on the same page, they were magical. 🎸😎
A monumental album full of amazing music with Helplessy Hoping being one of my favorites. CS&N broke the music barrier in my home growing up. My beautiful mother heard Suite Judy Blue Eyes on "her" radio station and bought me this record for my birthday in December of 69 which allowed "hippie music" to be played on the family stereo. Still have the vinyl. Rest in love David.
🎶 Not a lot of people know "Hopelessly Hoping", but it's really one of their very best!
Such a late comment, and this story may be told already (I didn’t real all the comments!) But legend is, Stills and Crosby had already teamed up as a duo, when Mana Cass invited Nash to her house in LA, where Stills and Nash were hanging out. Nash heard Stills and Crosby play THIS song. Then he asked them to sing it again, and then a third time. On the 4th time, Nash joined in, having memorized the lyrics and imagined the harmony part he would add. When they finished that 4th time, they all looked at each other in amazement, knew it was special, and thus formed Crosby, Stills and Nash. Thank you, Mama Cass, for bringing this great group together for the first time!!!
My favorite song from these brilliant musicians....thanks.
For me, predecessor of my favorite harmonizers, the Eagles.
CSN and Y included members of some of the most important bands of the 60’s and 70’s. The album Deja Vu, with Young, is one of the seminal albums of the time. . ‘Carry On’ and ‘Helpless’ are two that I know you guys would love. Specially for Jay, the piano on ‘Helpless’ is so gorgeous as are the visuals Young painted with his lyrics.
Graham Nash and David Crosby produced several duets that are stunningly beautiful.
My favorite, hands down, is Guinnevere. Their live acoustic performance is heavenly. Crosby played around with various guitar tunings and came up some amazing songs to fit them.
You don't get much better than CSN&Y. We grew up in that age and feel so blessed to be part of that era. RIP David
Their second public gig was at Woodstock circa '69. Mentioned on stage during the recording of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Blackbird, Helplessly Hoping, Guinnevere, & Marrakesh Express.
That's a good point about them being like a supergroup. When Neil Young joined, it became even more of one. And the result is a super sound, perfect blending and talent done with what seems to us a seeming ease. The Traveling Wilburys are another example of a natural supergroup blending together with ease.
Don’t forget to do some CSNY, when Neil is with them it’s also pretty damn incredible.
Hi you two guys, regards again from the Black Forest! So wonderful to hear your comments on those songs that came out long before you were born. So, as you're interested in Neil Young's contribution, I would suggest a song from the album Déjà vu - actually you could pick any song, but it would be Helpless, or my personal favorite, Country Girl. And going back to the roots:
The Byrds (David Crosby) - Turn! Turn! Turn! or So You Want To Be A Rock & Roll Star
Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills & Neil Young) - For What It's Worth
The Hollies (Graham Nash) - I Can't Let Go or He Ain't Heavy.
Keep it going and thanks for your channel!
You asked when Neil Young entered, well he was actually already there. If you take this album cover and turn it around, you will see Neil Young looking though the glass door. This album was done in 1969, the same year as Woodstock. CSNY played their second gig there. Young bring Politics, and hard driving Rock, and a Social conscience to their music. You really need to listen to Carry On and Southern Man from 4 Way Street.
My favorite album. Every song a gem.
Mine too!!
Combination of literary alliteration and harmony is wonderful.
Graham Nash took the Hollies to the top of the charts many times with his great lyrics and voice.
I love this song. It's fun to sing along with each one - sometimes David, sometimes Graham, sometimes Steve. Sometimes mixing it up. A great song!
for harmony, I've never heard anything to beat the Eagles live version of Seven Bridges Road. How to blend those voices live on stage, just incredible.
I remember when the album came out and it was "what am I hearing!"
And one of the great albumscovers ever.
And that's how harmonies are done!!!!!
