FYI: If you get to the step where you access the RetroPie shares and Windows won't let you connect, it's because the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update turned off guest access in SMB2. To turn it back on go to "Group Policy" in Windows 10, go to "Computer configuration\administrative templates etwork\Lanman Workstation", and turn on "Enable insecure guest logons". That should fix the problem for you. Also you can access the shares with \\RETROPIE too.
It takes time and promotion to build an audience. I - like probably many other people - only found Craft Computing by means of one of his videos showing up as a suggestion from YT. Now if someone like Lazy Game Reviews or Techmoan were to reference a Craft Computing video, then you might see a big uptick in views and subscriptions.
tfw I'm subbed to all three of these great guys and also found Craft Computing through YT suggestions. They get a lot of hate, and most of my suggestions/Up next queue are things I have oddly already watched, but I'm glad this is the channel that peeked through.
How good have the Buffalo Classic controllers been for you? I picked up a pair last year, and found out that they have this problem where they will randomly register control-pad-left button presses even when you're not holding the controller, and I discovered that this was a very common - almost universal - problem. Have you noticed any such problem?
Just had a session from Founders the other day, definitely a staple considering the good price and quality, I was wondering if this could be a linux box too?
Yeah, I thought so, the display seemed to bright for a front-lit model. Damn shame that they don't really exist over here (they never differentiated the packaging, so nobody knew they were a thing). Oh well, at least I can use my GBA as "flashlight."
Active cooling for SNES emulation? Yeah, probably not necessary as long as the case isn't an absolute oven. I've been running a Pi media/emulation center for about a year and a half now, and I only needed to switch cases and add a 30mm fan when I started experimenting with playing 1080p HEVC video.
So far my Nintendo 2DS is my favorite modern retro handheld. I am looking into Super Nintendo clone systems & I found a clone of the Super Nintendo classic so there's that
If I may ask a question, have you ever heard of a raspberry pi overheating on its second use? I got one of the Pi3 I think a while back and tried to do basically this, but once I turned it on it overheated and shut down within seconds and burnt my hand when I tried to unplug it.
Eh, no need for an ethernet cable. I know the Pi isn't exactly known for the range of its WiFi adapter, but it's adequate as long as your router isn't on the complete opposite end of a large house.
Not trying to be an SJW or anything either, but the most frustrating thing about the US NES and SNES design is that its just simply rooted in Japanese prejudice. They designed it this way because they thought we would actually put drinks and snacks on top of the console for whatever fucking reason, lmfao. It;s a mixture of stereotyping, a great product, and a case nobody liked. I cant say the Japanese are the best at marketing. They have about five thousand different inventions designs just for eating noodles without making a mess that nobody ever would use.
The US SNES was designed by an American and was not designed as a drinks holder but to appear more like a AV component. There's somewhat of an irony in leaving a comment complaining about prejudice whist at the same doing no research whatsoever.
What about the US NES? This is what ive heard from multiple sources about the shape being different. I heard from like three people that they designed it to be bulky on purpose for several reasons and that was apparently one of them. Whether or not an American made the final design of the SNES seems sort of like, why does that matter? He wasnt solely in charge of that design. Other people had input and its a Japanese product. What we all know is that the case for both US consoles are inexcusably bad. Its hard to not just dismiss though, video gaming and junk food have gone hand in hand in American ads since their inception so its no big surprise to me, and is why ive always believed this narrative. I can look into it more but it just seems like a really esoteric thing to ponder as I have alot of things to study that are directly more important in my life. I just have heard this over the years on UA-cam.
The NES case was designed by the same man, again to look like an AV component as they had little luck marketing a games console. And I have to say, I don't really mind the design of the NES.
There is just so much empty space in those cases that I find it hard to appreciate them. If the Famicom had longer cords I would consider it all around better also.
Look into a s905x box for way faster box. Internal emmc, case, and power supply for like $35. This is provided you don't care about the looks of the box
Ehhhhh. People find pirate sites with no effort at all if they need them, no need to advertise them. Everything on PDRoms is legal, either public domain, open-source, gamedev competition entries, or distributed under permission.
Still, good stuff man, love ur vids. Im also running a Pi 1 B and Pi2, both are primarily running on a CRT via Composite video @240p, and looks great. Quake for PC is fun on the Pi, and has a nice look running at that res

51k subs, WTF UR VIDS ARE LITERALLY PERFECT

Love different content like this, please, definitely keep these coming.
I love beers, I love tech. Brilliant!
Got one of these yesterday and iam so excited.
Super cool build. I’d love to build one as well. Thanks for your cool vids.
Dreamcast is my favourite every time!
Now I really wanna play some original PokéMon games.
I've been running through Y on my 3DS lately.
Craft Computing Did you ever get the chance to play Uranium prior to the cease letter?
Very nice! What fans are those in your pc on the right of the background? They look beautiful!
The case is the Stratos: amzn.to/2HGNLTB
Check out a review I did on the case here: ua-cam.com/video/Eb-b997i4Cg/v-deo.html
The fans come with it.
This is perfect and exactly what I needed.
That looks sweet! Can't wait for that budget build. Let's hope u don't get motion sickness

I haven't experienced that. I've only had my current set for a few months though.
Late response. But yeah those ibuffalo controllers are garbage. Especially seeing how we now have retroflag SNES controllers out now
This channel is great
Good work u deserve more subs
Thank you! You earned my sub
snes all the way !
🎮🤗💯
I love these things I plan to do some twitch streaming with one later on. I also planned a video on this as well but I guess you beat me to it lol.
Any additional set up for using two controllers?
And great video!
and now time to go buy one....
Awesome vid
@Craftcomputing is there a noticable input lag/latency with using the controllers? love the vids bro
Nothing more noticeable than a standard TV. I was considering testing this later with a CRT.
Thank you for the fast response. Ive just heard alot of stuff about certain clone controllers having noticable input lag. appreicate your time
I like an emulator where I can save. I love old games but cant get far without that lifeline! This is SUPER tempting though...
Killer Instinct was the best one
im trying to download retropie for some reason its not working what should I do?
Just had a session from Founders the other day, definitely a staple considering the good price and quality, I was wondering if this could be a linux box too?
You can install either Raspbian or Ubuntu Mate and get a pretty decent Linux box.
1. Great video. Thanks, I'll be certain to do that once I get the funds.
2. Is that a front-lit or back-lit GBA SP at the end?
Backlit
Thanks!
Good eye ;-) Mine is a backlit model. AGS-101. Took me forever to find one.
Yeah, I thought so, the display seemed to bright for a front-lit model. Damn shame that they don't really exist over here (they never differentiated the packaging, so nobody knew they were a thing). Oh well, at least I can use my GBA as "flashlight."
Klobi for President Over here being? You can spot them pretty easily in classifieds as their screens are a lot darker when turned off.
Daniel Flugt
Over here being Germany. Was the "classifieds" a case of autocorrect?

how can i connect a pi to Nintendo controller ports?

Aye that was good!
Is it possible to put Commander 64 games on a Raspberry Pi
Yes it is! Complete list of emulators can be found here: retropie.org.uk/docs/
Just click the Emulators link in the left column.
Eh, no need for an ethernet cable. I know the Pi isn't exactly known for the range of its WiFi adapter, but it's adequate as long as your router isn't on the complete opposite end of a large house.
at 0:10 what is that green led case in the BG

Craft Computing Thx, keep up the good work!
That's a pretty clever little case for the Pi. I wish it wasn't styled on the US SNES though. :/

Karl Johnson the Android box? Have you done this?
Tuff Teddy yes lakka os
as always... you're Jeff
You can also just mod the snes mini
nice
Does anyone know the ( link for ) rom's for 2 arcade games called : MAPPY and LADY BUG
psp and ps2 emulation for me with a beer and pizza yeah.
Can anyone tell me if the 'Donkey Kong Country' trilogy runs well on these?
This didn’t work for me. Doesn’t even show the SNES logo at startup
No u
Finally someone does actually legal ROM images.
There's probably a million on pdroms.de, but chances are, 99% of them are terrible.
Eh. Some not quite legal sites also have good ROMs, Emu Paradise comes to mind.
Ehhhhh. People find pirate sites with no effort at all if they need them, no need to advertise them. Everything on PDRoms is legal, either public domain, open-source, gamedev competition entries, or distributed under permission.
thank you daddy
Raspberry pi 3 + SNES case = *better than* SNES Classic.
It's JUST Start+Select to exit, fyi
Yep... oops...
Still, good stuff man, love ur vids. Im also running a Pi 1 B and Pi2, both are primarily running on a CRT via Composite video @240p, and looks great. Quake for PC is fun on the Pi, and has a nice look running at that res
Lol idk how cases like these can last anymore with the retroflag cases all out
i'd rather get one thats wifi enabled then have to run a 25 or 50 foot cable from the room i'd put it into, all the way to where my router is located.
The Pi 3 has WiFi onboard, and you can totally do that as well.
I doubt this will be viable for mining sadly.
Hey man I really like what you’re doing... however I feel that the beer can be a bit cringe. Keep up the vids though man
