Hi, I work in die casting foundry. I work with guys which claim that holes (H7 type) for ejector pins should be machined on SIP and hole grinder. What do you think?
It depends on what the hole is used for. A core pin hole needs to be located very precisely and have very accurate dimensions, where an ejector hole the tolerances of location and fit are less important. An ejector pin will always have some flash just because of the nature of the ejector pins moving. A core pin hole if sized correctly will be a perfectly clean parting line where the core pin and mold body meet and it will stay that way as long as the mold functions. Jig boring and jig grinding are traditional hole methods. Wire EDM is also a good method for making accurate holes but requires more overhead for machine capable and a machinist with the right know how to achieve accurate results.
@@CncFrezar Oh no, you're kidding me 😁😁😁 Do you have one base on the table? This trade doesn't pay what it's worth. I got out of this trade because the pay wasn't worth it. But I would've done that part in half the time. I would've used the high feed to face the first side with the same speed you were cutting with, and then I would've just cut the pocket in on the other side and just faced what was needed, and then drilled the holes. And would've drilled the holes that opened up when I got down to the depth. I was pretty good programming and setting up. I liked the trade but corrupt democrats sold this trade out to China
If I understand you right they way you're talking about would have been a lot harder to fixture and possibly not possible with what they have. Sometimes, it makes more sense to just let the machine work.
@@85CEKR it's doing the same thing but not using the slow face he starts with, and it's not wasting drilling all that depth and just cutting it all out. When you can cut it all the way down and then drill! Wasted time one drilling, Wasted time on using that slow facemill, and then Wasted time on facing the opposite side when you are cutting most of it away because of the pocket.
Not everything, I machine the copper anodes that actually get turned into microchips, one of our parts got bid out to be made in China, it only took 2 months before the quality was so bad the part came back to our company, these parts have the strictest surface finish and cleaning procedures you can imagine, China will never be able to make the highest quality of parts we make in the USA. More likely for European countries to take our parts, they are way better and automation to make cheaper prices
