I crochet for therapy for myself and to keep my hands busy. My mom and grandmother tried to teach me as a pre-teen and while in nursing school and it was awful. Thanks to your videos, I now can crochet and even came up with a couple of little patterns myself. Every time someone asks me to teach them I refer them to you and even write your name down form to find you, that's how much you have helped me. Thanks so much, Yolanda! My mom is now asking me to reteach her and my grandmother would be so proud.
I have not crocheted in about 10 years and I was never more than a beginner so when I decided I wanted to make a baby afghan I struggled for 2 days with a pattern I did not understand. Then I found this video and YOU made everything so simple . I have a good start on this afghan now. Thank You!
I love all of Yolandas videos they are super easy to follow and she makes it fun to follow Along.I like this spin on the chevron ripple and plan on making a baby blanket ! Thank you
So many people complaing about the decrease. There are literally hundreds of videos explaining how to do this. Be grateful that someone has taken the time to show this pattern. She doesn't get paid for it so is giving her time freely. And if you watch until 24 mins you can clearly see a decrease anyway.
I am not quite sure where all this negativity is coming from. I have been crocheting for about 4 years now and I learned completely from watching UA-cam. Yolanda is one of my absolute favorites. I did not feel that there was any confusion with this project for me. This isn't a video on learning crochet stiches as much as it is learning a specific stitch. It is understood, at least to me that you already know the basics. I am excited about doing this as a baby blanket. I have never done this stitch before and I am so happy to have access to Yolanda to help me branch out with my craft.
I'm not sure why some people didn't get it. I honestly thought it was well explained and well shown. For people who didn't understand how to do the dc decrease I would suggest looking it up before starting this pattern. It's not a big deal. Anyway, thanks for taking your time to show us Yolanda! I'm going to try it out now! ;)
+yadontknow If some people don't get the DC decrease, doesn't mean you should be rude with comments. Maybe instead you could've posted a tutorial vid for others, as I am going to.
Good for you Denise! Informing people to check out a video on a DC decrease before attempting this pattern isn't rude at all actually. Please explain to me how it's rude.
I really liked how you showed how to do the double crochet instead of saying double crochet 8 times like some videos. Thanks for doing that. I love your videos!
Your tutorial is so clear! I've never known why i should decrease at first and last. Because nobody explained it to me and I got it perfetly now:) Thank you!
Thank you so much for explain the math behind making a full blanket with your swatch. I've been crocheting for years and have never heard an explanation as good as the one in this video! You get a like and favorite from this woman!
I saw the unique blanket you did in grey, pink, and white, but it was on pintres and I would love to make that one....I have been following for over a year now love your work.
ive tried to watch so many other videos to find out how to remake my childhood blanket, this one finally got through to me. thank you so much, now ive got a new skill for life
Hi Yolanda Somewhat new to crochet- this is my second project; the first was a car-size afghan for my wife. This is the first EASY to understand Ripple I've seen. Thanks for the nice, easy instructiions!
Well explained It was indeed a pleasure listening to you and of course learning the ripple stitch so patiently counting the DC's and continuing ....This makes us confident and difficult tasks are handled easily.Hats off to you.thanks.
I'm new to crochet and I had watched countless videos to learn how to do the chevron stitch. In the end I was always frustrated because I just wasn't getting it, until I watched your tutorial... because of you I was able to make my cousin a beautiful baby blanket for her first child! Thanks so much, god bless -Rachael.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
Thanks for including metric in your tutorial, no one ever does that, which is why I don’t follow them. Yes, I could convert it myself but it makes me feel as though they don’t care about viewers outside of the US.
Hi Yolanda I watch a lot of your videos because I can understand and follow along very well with you your very clear usually. I am partially blind so I really enjoy your video you make it easy. I was disappointed on the ripple stitch you did not explain the decrease very good and maybe changing color on the second row might have made it difficult Please could show again in same color I am sure I will get . Thank you so much for your help Yolanda for sharing your special touches. Merry ChristmasYour Fan LG
I don't know what Nickys problem is but I think you are awesome and I find watching your videos easy ... So thanks for taking Your Time to help those of us who appreciate your kindness and help.... God Bless You and your family :)
Thank you !! Ur instructions were very easy to follow. Made my blanket and added a sc all around.. I would download a picture but I don't know how. Thank you. Will be looking forward for more of your patterns.
Ms Yolanda I really have to thank you for posting this video...I tried to make this pattern and just couldn't do it... Your video made it so easy as slicing a piece of pie... thanks again
I am new to your videos and rapidly getting addicted 😁! You have such a lovely quality of humility and humor! I watched a few more current videos and decided to start at the beginning because I want to get to know this charming southern lady! Thank you for keeping me company on this lonely, rainy night! - Ginny Sue
If you want your blanket to be smooth on the back side go thru both loops of the yarn every second row, then you only have the ripple effect on one side of the blanket and the other side of the blanket will be smooth ... Hope you understand what I mean, I'm from Denmark so english is NOT my native language. Love your tutorial by the way.
Thank you so much for this!! I've been wanting to make a blanket for my 16 month old twins but haven't been able to.. I'm going to try this.. I love your videos..thanks!!
Have you made a video on how to put a border on these so the ends are straight? I have made one but I want that finished look by putting a simple border on it.
Hi Yolanda, Can you please explain the decrease? I haven't ever done them before. I have saw online how to do a decrease but i don't know how often I'm supposed to do them. Do you do this once on each end? Is this done on every row?
Hi Yolanda, I'm going to try this. O tried another version by someone else and my stitches were off. A common in that thread. Here's to hoping this works. Hugs and Happy crocheting from Arizona.
how any chains would i need for a king size blanket ? im using a 4.25 size hook. sorry im bad at math. and im combining this pattern with some crochet basic sqaures
I appreciate that you want to hide the tails but the decrease is much more important to show. I can’t get the decrease because of your concentration of the tails
Hi, love the teapot and the cozy setting, as well as the demo - nicely paced. I'm not sure about the jazzy synthesizer music in the background - maybe a bit distracting? Ideas: no music; or music that equates with the cozy home feeling e.g. slower paced and softer like folk or light classical or spa. Thanks for the help! I can now finish my project.
make the small swatch I show here. And then measure it to see how many chains it takes to measure an inch..(you hsave to make sure it is at least the number of chains for each repeat- so the width might be a little wider than the size of the bed) . take that number and multiple it by the width measurement of your bed, and chain that manyamount of chains to begin. Then keep adding rows until you reach the height you want.
I don’t get the count on pattern repeat. So 15+2 =17. Don’t you do 8 up 2ch and 8 down Plus 15 for end of last chevron. If doing a larger project??? The count confuses me, I want to make a blanket.
how do I figure a chain for a blanket? is it chain of 17? please tell me how to figure my base chain. other than that lovely tutorial. I love your videos.
+Trisha Jackson The 'average' gauge in regular straight crochet is normally about 4 stitches to an inch (using J hook). However, when you make the ripple, you lose about 1/2 an inch per ripple, from what I've been able to discover by pure trial and error. The longer you chain in between your increase/decrease (where the ripple effect is actually created) the wider your chevron will be. So right now I'm doing a throw rug in multiples of 11(+1). My chevrons/ripples are about 2.5 inches wide. Going into a chain of 17 or 25 will increase the width of the chevron accordingly. Hope that helps. You have to do a little bit of math! :)

Very easily explained tutorial. God bless 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Yolanda from Victoria, Australia. xo
I love this blanket I've made it so many times, but i like to watch it again before i start a new blanket. I had to search for ages to find this video

Well, I grew up in Mexico and we use the metric system, so sometimes that feels more natural to me. Thanks for watching.

Have you made a video on how to put a border on these so the ends are straight? I have made one but I want that finished look by putting a simple border on it.
you can add a little if you like.
You explain pattern so well, thank you! This is the second pattern of yours that I am using :)
Love your videos on crochet, I'm really discovering different patterns
I miss you guys so much
So on your last stich you ch3 and turn do you a dbc in same space but dont count the chain 3 as one of the 8 dbc ?
Hi Yolanda,
Can you please explain the decrease? I haven't ever done them before. I have saw online how to do a decrease but i don't know how often I'm supposed to do them. Do you do this once on each end? Is this done on every row?
I like our work on Puto rippleen #crochet
Hi Yolanda, I'm going to try this. O tried another version by someone else and my stitches were off. A common in that thread. Here's to hoping this works. Hugs and Happy crocheting from Arizona.
u made this patern very easy for me thanku
I like Yolanda a lot 😄
Thank you. I just did the first few rows of my baby afghan,.
Hi Yolanda,,I love your work ,,did already few of them...now question? is it posible to work this Ripple stitch in Triangel?
I love watching you make the ripple blankets but I seem to have a problem with the pattern coming out even?
How many would I use for a half size bed for this stitch ?
I what to crochet this for king size bed how many foundation I must do
how any chains would i need for a king size blanket ? im using a 4.25 size hook. sorry im bad at math. and im combining this pattern with some crochet basic sqaures
the best way to determine is to measure the gauge.
do you have a video like this for beginners?
I appreciate that you want to hide the tails but the decrease is much more important to show.
I can’t get the decrease because of your concentration of the tails
when you turn around and chain 3 do you do 2 double crochet in your first stitch? what do you mean by decrease?
17 chains are in one section? Including the skip 2 and add 2?
Por favor las instrucciones en español, gracias.
Es muy lindo, lo quiero hacer.
When you went to row 2 how did you decrease? I could not see that. Did you DC in the bottom of your chain 3?
Go to the time of 19:20 of the video.. I decrease over the 2nd and 3rd stitch. A double crochet decrease...
I don't understand how you are doing the Decrease. Will you make another video that display how you decrease the ripple blanket?
Hi, love the teapot and the cozy setting, as well as the demo - nicely paced. I'm not sure about the jazzy synthesizer music in the background - maybe a bit distracting? Ideas: no music; or music that equates with the cozy home feeling e.g. slower paced and softer like folk or light classical or spa. Thanks for the help! I can now finish my project.
Thanks! I'd forgotten how to do this pattern!
How do u start and end ur second row
thank you I just found this today and it is very nice tutorial.
What is the multiple for this stitch.
Okay ❤️
can u tell me how many to chain for a baby blanket 36 x 36 ....
how many stitches do I cast on for a double blanket
make the small swatch I show here.
What's the difference between a RIPPLE Stitch and a CHEVRON Stitch?
Can I download a pattern from this please?
I don’t get the count on pattern repeat. So 15+2 =17. Don’t you do 8 up 2ch and 8 down Plus 15 for end of last chevron. If doing a larger project??? The count confuses me, I want to make a blanket.
Oh by the way I am just starting to crochet so I am a newbie at it
how do I figure a chain for a blanket? is it chain of 17? please tell me how to figure my base chain. other than that lovely tutorial. I love your videos.

how many chains to make a nice size lap blanket?
